Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the effects of Sasim-tang (SST) on proinflammatory cytokine production in a photothrombotic ischemia mouse model. Methods : Photothrombotic ischemia was induced in stereotactically held male Balb/c mice using rose bengal (10 mg/kg) and cold light. The target of photothrombotic ischemic lesion was 1 mm anterior to bregma and 3 mm lateral to midline with 2 mm in diameter, which are decreased by oral administration of SST. Results : SST protected ischemic death of brain cells through inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines production and catalytic activation of caspase-3 protease in photothrombotic ischemia mouse model. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that SST can have protective effects on brain cell damage in a photothrombotic ischemia mouse model.

Many publications of pointology have been conflicted to define fixed positions of acu-points. These underlying cause results from the historical fact that most of acu-points and meridian systems began at anonymous experiences of many generations. However, if we would believe that the acupoints and meridian systems exit clearly in all of the organism, there were exit the fixed position of acupoints. In this study, we performed bibliographically the investigation fixing the position of CV16. From the investigation, although supported that it exit 1.6 chon (寸) below CV17 in human being, we suggest that CV16 exit below the sternum met with the 7th rib, or the joined point between the sternum and the xiphoid process.

The goals of this research are to understand the regeneration characteristics in diesel particulate filter(DPF) using the cerium additive and throttling. The effects of accumulated soot mass and throttling time were studied to avoid DPF failure. The major conclusions of this work include; ( i ) the pressure drop is increased with increases of the engine load and the engine speed.; (ii) the inlet temperature of the filter is increased by about 120°C with throttling time, 40 seconds which leads to sufficient temperature to regenerate; (iii) the filter temperatures are ranged around 600°C which is far belowed for filter melting temperature.<br/>

Objectives:We investigated the effect of Dohongsamul-tang (DHSMT) on the production of various cytokines in lipopolysaccaride (LPS) stimulated peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from CI patients. Methods: Cell viability was determined using MTT assay. ELISA was carried out for investigating TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-4, and TGF-β1 Results:The amount of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-4, and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 in PBMC culture supernatant significantly increased in the LPS treated cells compared to unstimulated cells. We show that DHSMT inhibited the production of TNF-α, IL-1β IL-6, IL-8, and IL-4 induced by LPS in a dose dependent manner. The maximal inhibition rate of the TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-4 production by pretreatment of DHSMT (1.0 mg/ml) was 38.52 ± 2.5% (P < 0.01), 44.02 ± 3.5% (P < 0.05), 45.32 ± 2.3% (P < 0.01), 42.30 ± 3.1% (P < 0.05), and 49.70 ± 3.1% (P < 0.05), respectively. On the other hand, DHSMT significantly increased the LPS-induced TGF-β1 production (P <0.05). Conclusions:Taken together, these results suggest that DHSMT might have regulatory effects on cytokine production, which might explain its beneficial effect in the treatment of CI.
