IL-9 is a known T cell growth factor with pleiotropic immunological functions, especially in parasite infection and colitis. However, its role in tumor growth is controversial. In this study, we generated tumor clones expressing the membrane-bound form of IL-9 (MB-IL-9) and investigated their influences on immune system. MB-IL-9 tumor clones showed reduced tumorigenicity but shortened survival accompanied with severe body weight loss in mice. MB-IL-9 expression on tumor cells had no effect on cell proliferation or major histocompatibility complex class I expression in vitro. MB-IL-9 tumor clones were effective in amplifying CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and increasing cytotoxic activity against CT26 cells in vivo. We also observed a prominent reduction in body weights and survival period of mice injected intraperitoneally with MB-IL-9 clones compared with control groups. Ratios of IL-17 to interferon (IFN)-γ in serum level and tumor mass were higher in mice implanted with MB-IL-9 tumor clones than those observed in mice implanted with control cells. These results indicate that the ectopic expression of the MB-IL-9 on tumor cells exerts an immune-stimulatory effect with toxicity. To exploit its benefits as a tumor vaccine, a strategy to control the toxicity of MB-IL-9 tumor clones should be developed.
Effect of 3 - aminobenzamide on DNA Replication in CHO Cells Exposed to MMS

Effects of 3-aminobenzamide (3AB) on DNA replication was investigated in CHO cells treated with MMS by alkaline sucrose gradient sedimentation analysis. The inhibitor produced a dose-dependent decrease in the rate of DNA replication. The inhibitor did not seem to affect the specific step of DNA replication, but decreased the number of active replicon, which can accomplish DNA replication. Since 3-AB increased MMS-induced DNA strand breaks and significantly retarded the rejoining of strand breaks, we examined the possibility that single strand breaks enhanced by 3-AB may influence the pattern of DNA replication in the presence of MMS.

3D printing is a technology that can transform and process computerized data obtainedthrough modeling or 3D scanning via CAD. In the medical field, studies on customized 3D printingtechnology for clinical use or patients and diseases continue. The importance of research on filamentsand molding methods is increasing, but research on manufacturing methods and available raw materialsis not being actively conducted. In this study, we compare the characteristics of each material accordingto the manufacturing method of the phantom manufactured with 3D printing technology and evaluateits usefulness. We manufactured phantoms of the same size using poly methyl meta acrylate (PMMA),acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) based on the international standardphantom of aluminum step wedge. We used SITEC’s radiation generator (DigiRAD-FPC R-1000-150) andcompared the shielding rate and line attenuation coefficient through the average after shooting 10 times. As a result, in the case of the measured dose transmitted through each phantom, it was confirmed thatthe appearance of the dose measured for phantoms decreased linearly as the thickness increased undereach condition. The sensitivity also decreased as the steps increased for each phantom and confirmedthat it was different depending on the thickness and material. Through this study, we confirmed that3D printing technology can be usefully used for phantom production in the medical field. If furtherdevelopment of printing technology and studies on various materials are conducted, it is believed thatthey will contribute to the development of the medical research environment.
$PbNb_2{O_6}$ 세라믹스에서 미세구조에 미치는 첨가제의 영향

PbNb$_{2}$O$_{6}$ piezoelectric ceramics have good properties, but the applications of them have been limited due to the problems of microstructures. In the present study, effects of additives on the phase stability, microstructure, and electrical proper-ties of ferroetectric phase were investigated. La$_{2}$O$_{3}$, Nd$_{2}$O$_{3}$ and Sm$_{2}$O$_{3}$ were added with the amounts of 1, 3, 5 mol% respectively. The results showed that single orthorhombic(ferroelectric phase) phase compared with the mixed phase of pure PbNb2O6 was obtained. In the case of 5 mol% Nd$_{2}$O$_{3}$ addition, relative density of >95% and dense microstructure with -2.mu.m grain size were obtained.d.
동기의 자기조정 : Kuhl의 의지(volition) 이론

Tolman, Lewin의 고전적 인지주의 이론과 Atkinson의 성취동기 이론, Seligman 등의 학습된 무기력 이론, Bandura의 자기효능감 이론 등의 기대가치 동기 이론들은 결과에 대한 개인의 예상 또는 기대가 미래의 행동에 영향을 미쳐 동기 요인으로 작용한다는 인지주의의 관점을 취한다. 그러나 이런 기존의 기대가치 이론만으로는 설명할 수 없는 예외적 현상을 발견한 Kuhl은 그의 행위통제 이론을 제시했다. Kuhl은 기존의 기대 요인과 가치 요인에 행위 요인을 추가하였다. 단순히 두뇌 속에서 일어나는 인지 작용인 기대나 예상보다는, 실제 실행력을 뜻하는 행위 요인이 개인의 행동을 설명하는데 결정적으로 중요하다고 여겼다. 그의 의지조정 이론은 개인이 의도한 행위를 경쟁적인 대안적 행위에 유혹되지 않고 계속해서 의도를 유지하며 집행하는 능력을 중요하게 여긴다. 그리고 새로운 행위를 시작하여 유지하는 능력, 실패 경험 뒤에 대처하는 인지 양상 등에 따라 인간의 성격을 행위지향성과 정태지향성으로 분류하였다.
