Laminated lumber is an engineered wood products using stress rated, seasoned and selected lumber. Each piece of lumber is graded, and then end jointed to produce the required length. This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of wooden artifacts with laminated lumber. It is expected through this research that wooden artifacts, which have originality and local character, can be developed by making design of wooden artifacts through the use of plentiful resources around the local area. A development of new design products, an improvement of distributive structure and the achievement of international competitiveness will contribute to develop the industrial artifacts art in Korea. And, it is necessary to develop a corporation system between industrial craft companies and universities.

Woodcraft activity is inseparable with our ordinary life and its relevant research should be consistently maintained because it has significant educational value to blossoming students. These days, which interest in woodcraft is rapidly expanding from early childhood to old age, this study was done to provide images to those who work in this field or who have interest. Out of the 43 jewelry and gift boxes used in this study, species of white which has low proportion of packing materials consists of species of Fir (Abies spp), Birch (Betula spp) and Amercia basswood (Tilia americana Linnaeus) and the higher proportion species of Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Bayor (Pteorospermum diversifolium Bl), Snakewood (Piratinera guianensis aubl.) and Bintangor (Calophhyllum spp.) were used in valuable products. It was showed that out of 56 works selected from ‘400 Wood Boxes’, the species of Walnut (Juglans regia), Cherry (Prunus serotina), Wenge (Milletia laurentii De. wild), Ebony (Diospyros spp.), Ash (Fraxinus spp.) and Cocobolo (Dallbergia cultrata Grah.) were frequently used.

Woodcraft activities have an inseparable relationship with our daily life, and it is a field that needs to be continued because of the value of education for the growing students. The interest in woodworking from childhood to old age is rapidly expanding nowadays, therefore this study has been done to provide images to those who are engaged in woodcraft business and also those who are interested in this field. If we look at the use of wood in our daily life, We can classify it into Architecture, Civil engineering, Furniture, Musical Instrument, Packaging, Recreational instrument, Exercise instrument, Stationery, Daily commodity, and Industrial use. Among them, We examined kinds of stationery and which type of woods were used. As a result of classifying 101 stationery products in 22 countries, stationery materials using wood can be used for Business cards, Envelope houses, Box houses, Pen holders, Locker plates, Stationery baskets, Book holders, Stamps, Paper knives, Bookmarks, and Photo frames. It was found various wooden stationery are made in USA, Japan, UK, Canada etc. And the most frequently used species are hardwoods such as Walnut (Juglans regia), Maple (Acer spp.), Cherry (Prunus serotina), Birch (Betula spp.), Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Tulip (Liriodendron tulipifera Linnaeus), Bubinga (Guibourtia tessmannii J. Leonard), Wenge (Milletia laurentii De. wild), Cocobolo (Dallbergia cultrata Grah), Zebrawood (Microberlinia brazzavillensis A. Chev.) and Ebony (Diospyros spp.).

Crafts is like aliving organism that growing up continuously with human history. Craft is a beautiful instrument made by human hand, a creative art and a cultural inheritance of mankind. Craft is an aesthetic of life that is permissed on ‘use’, it’s practice, and a mirror reflecting the epoch as well. It also is cosilience of science, art and life, and a fruit of communication. Woodcraft activities have an inseparable relationship with our life, and it is a field that needs to be continued because of the value of education for the growing students. The interest in woodworking from childhood to old age is rapidly expanding nowadays, therefore this study has been done to provide images to those who are engaged in woodcraft business and also those who are interested in this field. In Wooden ornaments, the most frequently used wood species are Oregon Myrtle wood (Melia azedarach), Table dog wood (Cornus controversa Hemsl.), Betula (Betura schmidtii Regel), Basswood (Tilia amurensis Rupr.), Spruce (Picea jezoensisb Carr.), Jelutong (Dyera costulata Hook.), Ruber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Muell.), Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra Fr). Maple (Acer spp.), Juniper (Juniperus spp), Bamboo, Plywoods and Laminated woods. In piano, the most frequently used wood species are hardwoods such as Mahogany (Swietenia macrpphylla), Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra Fr.), Ebony (Diosypros spp.), Black walnut (Juglans nigra L.), Maple (Acer spp.) and Red oak (Quercus rubra Linnaeus).

터널 갱구부 저토피 및 관통부 변경에 따른 안정성 검토 사례 연구

국토의 70%가 산지인 우리나라는 도로건설 등에 필요한 토지가 매우 부족할 뿐만 아니라 환경에 대한 국민들의 관심이 고조되어 터널 시공이 증가하는 추세이다. 남해고속도로 냉정~부산간 확장공사 대동1터널 시공 시 계곡부 위치 및 갱문 이격으로 저토피가 발생하였고, 민원 등으로 착공이 지연되어 관통부 변경이 불가피하였다. 이에 다중TSP를 적용하여 관통부 위치를 변경하였고 안정해석을 실시하였다. 해석결과 터널의 안정성 에 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 시공 중 추가적인 안정성을 확보하고자 계측기 설치 및 기계굴착, 저토피구간 추가 보강, 반단면 굴착을 실시하였다. Around 70% of Korea is mountainous, an increase in tunnel construction. It’s due to the growing interest of the public for the environment and land required for the road construction is very scarce. During construction of ‘Daedong 1 tunnel’ in the expressway expansion project between Naengjeong and Busan, there are shallow shaft due to this tunnel located in the valley and the shafts are separated, and penetrating location change was inevitable for construction was delayed because of complaint. So, we change the position of the penetrating by applying multi-channel TSP, and conducted a stability analysis. The analysis results showed that there is no problem on the stability of the tunnel. To secure the construction of additional stability, We installed instrument, performed mechanical excavation, added reinforcement at shallow shaft and conducted bench cut.

Wood carving has been extremely widely practiced, but survives much less well than the other main materials, being vulnerable to decay, insect damage, and fire. It therefore forms an important hidden element in the art history of many cultures. Even though wood is less durable than either steel or stone, it has been used for a long time due to its usefulness. Wood has a lot of benefits. So people have used wood for materials in houses, trains, cars, bridges, and simple utilities in their ways according to their own religions, climates, and environment they are living in. Nowadays, there are wood products that are made up for its weaknesses and this has made wood be used in variety fields. Moreover, wood has been widely selected materials for sculptures, interior, and also for architecture thanks to its colors and textures. Wood has helped our life more abundant and beautiful.
