Although many problems of interest in various fields are related with compositional data on the simplex space, there has been little effort to develop basic operations and norms on the space itself. The widely used logratio analysis converts, by the logarithms of ratios of compositions, the compositional data on the simplex space to the unconstrained data on the Eucleadian space, reformulate the underlying problem in terms of these logratio compositions, and make use, wherever possible, of standard multivariate statistical procedures. Jung and Ahn(2005a, 2005b), in an effort to understand and analyze the compositional data directly on the simplex space, proposed some basic operations and norms on the simplex space. This study investigates the sampling distributions of the norms above mentioned. 비율형태의 많은 정보들이 심플렉스 공간에서 발생하고 있음에도 불구하고 심플렉스 공간에서 정의되는 구성비 데이터 분석을 위한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 정연선과 안성진(2005a, 2005b)은 구성비 데이터의 분석을 위해 심플렉스 공간상의 기본적인 연산들을 이용하여 s-노옴, 심플렉스 차이측도, 중심화 s-노옴 등 몇 가지 측도들을 제안하였다. 그런데 이들을 이용하여 구성비 데이터에 대한 분석을 하려면 이들의 표집분포가 알려져 있어야 한다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 s-노옴의 표집분포를 밝히고자 한다.주요용어 : 심플렉스 공간, 구성비 벡터, s-노옴, Dirichlet 분포, 로지스틱 정규분포.

많은 전쟁문학 작품속에서 작가들은 병사들의 전투행위를 묘사하면서 인간의 잔인성에 놀라움을 금치 못한다. 과연 병사들의 잔인한 전투행위는 어떻게 생기는 것일까? 어떻게 죽음의 공포를 극복하고 적진에 돌진하며 잔인하게 적을 살상하게 되는 것일까? 그들의 돌진은 소위 우리가 말하는 고귀한 이상인 용기, 영웅심, 애국심의 발로인가? 본 논문은 이러한 의문점들을 프로이트의 정신분석적 이론을 통해 규명해 보고자 하는 것이다. 전투 및 심리의 양상이 다양하기 때문에 프로이트의 정신분석적 이론의 적용도 그 많은 양상 중에서 하나의 해석 밖에는 제공하지 못할 것이다. 단적으로 프로이트는 전쟁에서 보이는 인간의 잔인성의 근원을 인간의 무의식속에 잠재해 있는 원시적 심리로 돌린다. 그에 의하면 원시인은 죽음에 대해 긍정과 부정이라는 서로 상충되는 두가지의 태도를 견지했다. 적의 죽음은 곧 증오하는 대상의 절멸을 뜻하기 때문에 그 죽음은 당연한 죽음이지만 자기 자신의 죽음은 상상할 수 없는 부정의 대상이었다. 그렇기 때문에 프로이트에게 있어서 병사들의 용기나 영웅심 같은 도덕적 덕성은 사실과 같지 않으며 인간의 무의식이 자신의 죽음을 믿지 않고 불멸인 것처럼 생각하는데서 나온 행동의 표현일 뿐이다. 또한 전쟁이라는 것도 무의식속에 잠재해 있는 새디스트적 심리요소에 의해 발산된 파괴본능의 외적 표현인 것이다. 한마디로 프로이트 이론의 심층 심리속을 파헤치면 인간은 도덕적 존재가 아니며 원시인이 무의식속에 도사리고 있는 야만적 존재일 뿐이다.

This study introduces the quasi-binomial and quasi-multinomial distributions, and derives their statistical properties. These distributions were encountered in the process of tackling the probabilistic classification problems for compositional data on the Simplex space. They are useful for generalizing the relationships between the binomial and beta distrbutions, and the multinomial and Dirichlet distributions. We derived, in particular, the relationship between the quasi-multinomial and Dirichlet distributions held for real parameters, similar to the relationship between the multinomial and Dirichlet distributions held for integer parameters. 본 연구는 모수가 양의 정수일 때 베타분포와 이항분포 그리고, 다항분포와 Dirichlet 분포간에 성립하는 관계를 모수가 양의 실수인 경우에도 적용할 수 있도록 확장하는 과정에서 만나게 된 유사이항분포와 유사다항분포를 소개하고자 한다. 우리는 유사이항분포와 유사다항분포의 통계적 성질을 규명하였고, 이를 토대로 유사이항분포와 베터분포와의 관계 그리고 유사다항분포와 Dirichlet 분포와의 관계를 도출하였다. 특히 모수가 정수인 경우에 다항분포와 Dirichlet 분포간에 성립하는 관계와 유사한 관계가 유사다항분포와 Dirichlet 분포간에 성립함을 보였다. 유사이항분포와 유사다항분포는 성분데이터를 토대로 한 확률적 분류규칙을 유도하는데 이용되었다.

The Great Gatsby와 The Grapes of Wrath에 나오는 자동차의 문학적 사용

본 논문은 1920년대와 30년대의 대표적인 미국 소설이라 할 수 있는 The Great Gatsby와 The Grapes of Wrath에 나오는 자동차의 의미를 통해서 양시대의 문화의 한 단면을 고찰해본다. 관심의 대상은 우선 미국문화와 사회속에서 부와 지위의 척도로서 간주되는 자동차가 문학작품속에서 어떻게 투영되고 있으며 그 상징성이 무엇인가를 찾아보는 것이다. Fitzgerald의 작품에 나오는 화려한 자동차는 20년대 미국사회의 물질적 풍요를 대변하는 대표적 산물이지만 오히려 이 문명의 이기는 인간의 도덕적 타락과 정신적 빈곤을 초래하는 부정적 산물이 된다. 반대로 Steinbeck 의 작품에 나오는 고물자동차는 30년대 공황기의 미국사회의 물질적 빈곤을 대변하지만 오히려 이 자동차는 새로운 삶의 터전을 찾아가는 사람들의 수송수단이 됨으로서 인간에게 도덕적 이상과 정신적 풍요를 가져다 주는 긍정적 산물이 된다. 두 작품은 양 시대의 대표적 시대물로서 높은 문학성과 더불어 역사적 다큐멘트임을 발견하게 된다.

고등학생의 인터넷 중독 실태와 비만도 및 체력에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of Internet addiction on the physical fitness of high school students. The subjects of this study were the first and second grade students of high schools located in the S and C cities of Chungnam Province. Data collection was conducted through the questionnaires of 306 randomly selected students. Statistical descriptions, one-way ANOVA, and t-tests were performed for data processing, and scheffe′s testing was done for post verification. Results were obtained as follows. First, it was apparent that males had a more serious degree of Internet addiction than females. Second, it was revealed that the purpose of Internet use was for overcoming stress, impulsive use, passing time, and doing homework in the order. Thirdly, it was shown that the group which used internet cafes as their primary means of internet use, suffered the most addiction as compared to those who surfed the web primarily at school or home. Fourth, the evidence suggested that groups which exercised for more than two hours per day, suffered from a lower degree of Internet addiction than those groups which got under two hours of exercise per day. Fifth, it was shown that the obesity degree was shown more in the high risk-group of Internet addiction than in the general user group. Sixth, it was shown that physical fitness such as flexibility, reflexes, and endurance were all shown lower in high-risk group of Internet addiction than in potential-risk group and general user group. From the results mentioned above, it was shown that Internet addiction had a bad influence on teenager's obesity and factors for physical strength. Therefore, in order to maintain and improve their physical fitness, I suggest that we should not only stress the positive aspects of utilizing Internet but also devise creative ways to offset adverse effects of the Internet. It will allow teenagers to aggressively participate in physical activities related to the Internet, and also to play a leading role in an information-oriented society.
