This study explores various English immersion programs recently conducted in elementary schools either with the support from local governmental offices of education or by enthusiastic teachers. It also investigates the critical issues of English immersion education from the voices of the seven elementary teachers who have recently participated in immersion programs. Through the analysis of the models and the teachers' voices, the following results were found. First, various types of immersion programs showed advantages and benefits of immersion regardless of the support from the local government education offices. Second, the models of immersion illustrated practical approaches to develop immersion programs in diverse ways through the teachers' immersion study groups, the designation of immersion schools, or individual teachers who are interested in immersion. Lastly, interviews with the teachers showed that there were not only some difficulties and problems to be solved for immersion, but also plenty of possibilities for and benefits from the introduction of the program. Based on these findings several suggestions were made to implement English immersion programs in public elementary schools in Korea.
Alginate/gelatin composite scaffold for the acceleration of skin tissue restoration

Attempts to replace and regenerate demaged tissues utilizing histotechnical techniques have greatly contributed to the improvement of the quality of life. In particular, skin health can have a great impact on human life from an aesthetic point of view. In order to accelerate the restoration process of damaged skin tisse, a method of accelerating physiological resilience in addition to physical filling is highly demanded. In this study, composite scaffolds were fabricated using alginate and gelatin in order to improve skin resilience and analytical instruments including SEM, FT-IR, and EDX were utilized for the analysis of their pshsical and bioactive properties. The biological functions were characterized using NIH-3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells. Thecurrent results display that the hybrid scaffolds are capable of stimulating cellular responses, such as proliferation and differentiation.
온도 및 전지 형태에 따른 리튬이온전지 출력 특성 연구

출력 특성은 다양한 온도, 충전 상태(State of Charge, SOC) 및 노화상태(State of Health, SOH)에서 안정적인 구동을 위해 매우 중요하다. 하지만, 리튬이온전지의 출력 특성은 전지 타입과 온도에 상당히 민감하지만 이에 대한 체계적인 연구는 아직 미흡한 수준이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 HPPC (Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization) 측정법을 통해 세 가지 타입(코인, 원통형, 파우치형)의 전지를 서로 다른 온도 (15, 25 및 30 °C)에서 출력을 측정한다. 그 결과, 온도 변화에 관계없이 각 전지의 용량 값은 거의 동일하지만 출력 값은 온도에 따라 크게 달라지는 것을 확인했으며, 온도가 1°C 증가함에 따라 약 2 ~ 3 %의 전력 값이 증가했다.
반성적 교수일지를 통해 본 초등학교 몰입식 영어교육의 실제

This paper investigates English immersion classes in elementary schools through reflective teaching journals. Two male and three female immersion teachers from Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do participated in the study. A total of 80 teaching journals were collected from the immersion teachers and analyzed under the 6 categories of the main issues from English immersion classes. The categories include the preparation for immersion classes, the development of immersion materials, language choice patterns, subject content learning, and evaluation of the immersion classes. The analysis of the teaching journals showed that there were various crucial aspects in the immersion classes in terms of immersion teachers' motivation and attitudes, class preparation and management, and roles of teachers and students. Based on the results of the study some suggestions are made for developing and maintaining English immersion programs in elementary schools in the future.
