The present study is to investigate the quantitative analysis on finger prints from the control and the blind groups. Percent frequencies of finger pattern types were 54.5, 46.1, 57.2 and 45.6 for whorls; 42.8, 49.3, 38.9 and 47.1 for loops; 2.7, 4.6, 4.0 and 7.3 for arches in the male control, the female control, the male blind and the female blind, in order respectively. There were significant differences between both controls, between both blinds, between the male control and the male blind and between the female control and the female blind, respectively. The total ridge counts were 148.34, 138.96, 138.66 and 124.90 for the male control, the female control, the male blind and the female blind, in order respectively. There were significant differences between both controls, between both blinds, between the male control and the male blind, and between the female control and the female blind, respectively. In conclusion, blindness may be associated with quantitative dermatoglyphics.

In this study, an epoxy (bisphenol-A type) was selected as a reactive compatibilizer for enhancing the compatibility of immiscible blends of polyamide6(PA6) and poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET). These blends possess highly desirable qualities, such as low cost and increased moisture absorption, and can be used to construct practical polymer alloys. Using epoxy as a reactive compatibilizing agent, the compatible blends of PA6/PET/epoxy were successfully prepared through melt compounding using a twin-screw extruder. The domain size of PET decreased by a factor of two in the PA6 matrix with the epoxy. The effect of the epoxy on the melt viscosity, crystallization, and tensile properties of the blends indicates that the high-molecular weight epoxy can be an effective compatibilizer in PA6/PET blends.

Toe prints of 185 Koreans has been analyzed. Samples were grouped into 103 males and 82 females. Percentile occurrences of pattern types on both feet exhibited 13.79%, 1.94%, 57.86% and 26.41 % for males and 11.22%, 3.29%, 60.00% and 25.49% for females in the order of whorls, tibial loops, fibular loops and arches. The occurrences of four diverse types of toe pattern in both sexes were not significantly different. Values of pattern intensity indices display 8.74 for males and 8.57 for females. The difference between the sexes was not statistically significant. The bipedal difference in the occurrence of pattern types was not statistically significant in each group. There were similar frequencies in most digits for the bipedal symmetry in both sexes. For the combination of patten types, no Korean showed full possession of 5 arches and 5 whorls, and combinations of 7 whorls or more have not been found. The total ridge counts in both sexes were not significantly different.

The effect of a reactive compatibilizer on the morphology, and thermal and rheological properties of alloy fibers obtained from poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/polyamide 6 (PA6) blends was investigated. An epoxy of bisphenol-A type was selected as the reactive compatibilizer for preparing the polymer alloy fibers by enhancing the compatibility of immiscible blends of PA6 and PET. The PET/PA6/epoxy alloy is expected to be used for preparing practically useful alloy fibers with various advantages such as low cost and high moisture absorption. The PA6/PET/epoxy alloy was successfully prepared via melt compounding by using a twin-screw extruder. The domain size of the poor component decreased enough to result in alloy fibers with reasonable mechanical properties. Further, it was found that the cold crystallization temperature of PA6 in the alloy decreased with increasing epoxy amount, but that of PET increased owing to the significant difference between the crystallization rates of PET and PA6. The $T_g$ values for both polymers in the alloy showed a shift along the direction between them. All the results implied that chemical reactions occurred between epoxy and end groups of PA6 and PET, resulting in improved compatibilization.

Fingerprints of 637 Koreans have been analyzed, Samples werw grouped into 250 male students, 250 female students and 137 male criminals. Percentile occurrence of pattern type on b8th hands exhibit 2.7%, 42.8% and 54.5% for the male students ; 4.6% 49.3% and 45.1% for the female students ; 4.7% 46.3% and 49.1% in the arch, the loop and the whorl for the male criminals in order, respectively. Among three intergroups there were significant differences in three types of finger pattern. Total ridge count showed 148.34, 138.96 and 138.72 for the male students, the female students and criminals in order respectively. There are significant differences for total ridge counts between the two control groups, and between the male students and the male criminals.
