Vol.23 No.2
The stomach contents of the rock trout, Agrammus agrammus, in the littoral zone of Tongbaeksom, Busan, were analyzed in aspects to feeding ecology referred to relative frequency of prey, feeding period, selectivity and prey size. The fish were monthly collected by angling during daytime from July, 1982 to June, 1983. The organisms of the environment were collected by means of underwater sampling around the angling area for this study. Feeding activity of the fish was more intensive as time goes to sunrise and sunset. The food items consumed during the feeding period were mainly crustaceans, i.e. amphipods and isopods. It seems that the fish is a visual and epibenthic feeder. A shift in diet occurred during growth. The diets of young and old fish overlapped considerably, but a pronounced shift from Gammaridae, Dynamene sp. and Caprella sp. which were small to Synidotea laevidorsalis, Cymodoce japonica and Polychaeta which were large.

Using the synchronous culture method and the manometric technique, changes in respiratory activities, utilization of some organic acids (succinate, malate, lactate and acetate etc.) and its effect on glucose metabolism in Chlorella cells at different growing stages were measured. 1) Endogenous respiration of the cells was not active at growing stage and was almost constant throughout the early ripening, maturing and division stages. 2) Lactate was utilized as respiratory substrate better than other organic acids tested. Exogenous respiration of glucose was most active at growing and maturing stages and was decreased strikingly at division stage. 3) Succinate and citrate inhibited endogenous and glucose respiration of the cells throughout the all life cycle. 4) Malate and acetate were utilized in the cells at early growing and division stages better, and malate enhanced the glucose respiration while in case of acetate it was depressed. 5) Calcium ion inhibited not only permeability of respiratory substrate but endogenous respiration itself.
Vol.14 No.1
The chemical composition, respiration and nitrogen excretion of the mysid, Neomysis awatschensis were determined at monthly intervals for one year. Protein was high, approaching 71% of the dry weight, and was generally constant throughout a year but slightly decreased in January and February. Total lipid content was 12% of the dry weight. There were significant decreases in November, December, March and April. Carbohydrate content was very low, being 2.0% of the dry weight but declined in November, December, January and February. The respiratory rate at 15℃ declined sharply in January and February but increased markedly in May and August. Nitrogen excretion declined sharply to low levels in January and February but increased in April. Nitrogen excretion decreased again in early summer and increased gradually from late summer to autumn, and retained constant level until December. The relative proportion of oxygen utilized to nitrogen excreted was different from season to season.
