There are people. however, who do not understand what science means, especially among those practicing Oriental Medicine. They associate science with machines and consider that science is something not applicable to Oriental Medicine because Medicine is for humans not for machines. Science is a system of knowledge of universal facts and laws obtained based on objectivity, which under the same conditions gives the same results no matter when, where and how it is done and no matter who does it. To achieve development of that level, knowledge and technology from all areas should be considered and, if found useful, should be accepted. The immediate hurdle is to make Bang-Jae Science understood. So far Bang-Jae Discipline as understood by the practitioners of Oriental Medicine is nothing more than selecting prescriptions inherited from the predecessors that match given symptoms. To make Bang-Jae Discipline a science. i.e. Bang-Jae Science, we should not only study the traditional literature to gather data, experiment and verify with them one after another. make them objective and carry our scientific systemization. It takes fresh and creative trials but it will surely contribute to the future medical science.

The development of Korean Oriental medicine is based upon the accumulation of experience and knowledge gathered over the centuries. The approaches taken are holistic and empirical. There is a need to understand their actions at molecular levels with more rational, objective and scientific studies. Today it appears that Chronic and age-associated diceases may be multifactorial and hence more complex. A different approach may be required. One claimed usage of Korean Oriental medicine is for the treatment and prevention of chronic and age-associated illnesses. Some of the botanical formulas used for this purpose were discovered thousands of years ago and continue to be used today. There are indications that these formulas may indeed be helpful in the treatment or prevention of chronic diseases. This multi-component medicine could not only be very useful meeting the unmet clinical needs but for defining a more synergistic therapy that supports and maintains the bodies natural curative abilities. The potential usefulness of Korean Oriental medicine embodies the belief of maintaining healthy homeostasis of the body through the proper balance of a mixture of chemical at different organs or tissues. This concept is different from western medicine and implies that multiple compounds may act on multiple mechanisms of action to maintain the balance of the complex web of biology. This is very important in view of sciences current direction to integrate fragmented information to develop future medicines. The western and eastern approaches to human health and disease are complementary to each other. The best approach in developing future medicines is to integrate both approaches.

Oriental medicine the system of which is deductive using the cosmic dual forces, is passive and stagnant while Western medicine, the system of which is inductive, active and positive. The importance of the existence of Oriental medicine needs to be understood from the more extensive standpoint, meanwhile, the thought is the hasty conclusion that Oriental medicine is the relic of the past and has no value of its existence from the scientific terms. The need for the contribution to the medicine of the future through the scientific study on the merit and characteristic of Oriental medicine is required. To make a scientific progress in Oriental medicine in the future, the first step is to emerge from the deductive method based on the cosmic dual forces, expropriate the mechanism of the human body through the modern scientific knowledge, rearrange the dialectic feature in Chinese medicine by examineing it scientifically along with rearrangement about the effect of a natural object generated by its combination as well as scientific examination of the natural object used as a medicine and the new thesis on meridian point which is the remedy system of acupuncture, moxacutery and massage. From now on through the active progress from the multilateral scientific study on Oriental medicine it must contribute to the medicine of the future.
