      • THE FLUCTUATION OF THE THERMAL FRONT IN THE SOUTHEASTERN AREA OFF KOREA

        The oceanographical condition of the southeastern area off Korea is inverestigated in the point of view of the fluctuation of the thermal front. although the fearure of the front is somewhat complicate, it can be classified intl three types. the first type is elongated toward north with the narrow cold water belt inside the front. The second type is almost parallel with the latitude of 36 N and the third type is the irregular one in which the cyclonic cold water mass and the anticyclonic warm water mass develop equally. The north-south directed fronts are strengthened either by the supply of the warm Daema Current (Tsushima Current in Japanese) of by the appearance of the cold North Korean Water along the coast. In the first type the thermocline inclines up toward the coast when the southward component of the wind is weakened. On the other hand, in the second typr the homogeneous and medium warm water spreads up to the coast and the latitude of 36 N, the second type front is formed.

      • Numerical Experiment for the formation of the Yellow Sea cold Water mass

        A simple three-dimensional cubic model is applied to the formation of the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass in Summer. We studied how the tidal mixing and the Kuroshio Water Mass affect the formation of the Yellow Sea cold Water. The tidal mixing effect is parameterized into the vertical diffusion coefficient because of the technical difficulties in the numerical model In this study, the thermal front along the coast could be formed only by the tidal mixing effect. However, the southern front of the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass has to consider the warm Kuroshio water. the resultant shows the opposite temperature distribution in upper layer and lower layer. the center of the model is warmer in the upper layer and colder in the lower layer than the coast. The resultant circulation pattern is also reverse, clockwise circulation in the upper layer and counter-clockwise circulation in the lower layer.

        조석잔차류와 해상풍에 의한 황해와 동중국해의 해수 순환과 부유물 이동 모델 연구

        The circulations and movement of suspended materials by tidal residual current and seasonal surface wind in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea are investigated by using a 2-dimensional barotropic model and a particle tracing technique. The tidal residual current is relatively strong around the south and west coast of Korea including the Cheju Island and southern coast of China. The current has a maximum speed of 10 cm/s in the vicinity of Cheju Island with a clockwise circulation. General tendency of the current, however, is to flow eastward along the southern coast of Korea. At the east coast of China from Shanghai to Tunghai, it also shows a eastward flow toward the South Sea of Korea. The anticyclonic circulation formed by wind-driven current and southward current prevails along the coast of Korea in the winter season(from October to April) when northerly wind is dominant. In summer(represented by July), however, the cyclonic circulation appears due to the influence of southerly wind. Suspended materials are advected by tidal residual current and wind-driven current. The long period(ten days) displacement by wind-driven current is bigger than that by tidal residual current. However, the tidal residual current would have the more important role for the advection of the suspended material considering longer period more than several months. 본 연구는 2차원 순압모델을 사용하여 황해와 동중국해에서 조석잔차류와 춘 하 추 동 4계절의 해상풍에 의한 해수 순환과 이러한 순환에 의한 부유물의 이동 궤적을 추적하는데 목적을 두었다. 황해 해수 순환의 주요 외력은 조석과 바람이라고 생각되어, 조석은 $M_2$ 조석으로부터 조석잔차류를 계산하였고, 계절별 바람으로서 1월(겨울), 4월(봄), 7월(여름), 10월(가을)을 사용하였다. 조석잔차류는 한국 남 서해안과 제주도 부근과 중국 양자강 하구역 부근에서 크게 나타난다. 제주도 부근에서는 10 cm/s 이상의 최대 잔차류가 나타나며 시계방향의 순환을 보이지만 전반적으로 남해안을 따라 동향류의 경향이 있다. 또한, 중국의 연운항에서 상하이 사이의 영역에서는 한국의 남해로 향하는 순환 구조가 나타나고 있다. 바람에 의해 형성된 순환은 북풍의 성격을 띤 1월, 4월, 10월에는 해역에 시계 방향의 순환이, 남풍과 열대성 저기압의 영향을 받는 7월에는 반시계 방향의 순환이 우세했다. 이로 인하여, 한국연안에서는 7월을 제외하고는 남향류가 나타났다. 부유물은 조석 잔차류와 취송류에 의해 이동한다. 10일 동안의 이동에서는 수 십 cm/s에 달하는 취송류가 조석 잔차류보다 크게 작용했다. 그러나, 수 개월 이상의 이동에 있어서는 수 cm/s의 조석잔차류의 영향이 더 크게 나타났다.

      • 금강 하구의 해수순환역학

        In order to understand the circulation dynamics of the Keum River estuary, an extensive study was conducted; (i) variability of salinity boundary layer (ii) fluid dynamic characteristics (iii) tides and tidal currents (iv) circulation, diffusion, and dispersion (v) numerical modelling. As first part of this series of work, the salinity data obtained at six sites by using instantaneous profil]ing technique were analyzed in detail. it is found that the amplitude of salinity variation increases toward the upstream direction and its magnitude is greater at neap tide than spring tide. And also duration of salinity boundary layer is much longer during the neap tide than the spring tide, As a result of this study, the Keum River estuary is classified as a typical standing wave type estuary. Finally, we present a schematic diagram for the duration of the salinity boundary layer, which will be useful for further study on flocculation phenomena and sedimentation dynamics.

        온실효과에 대한 학생들의 개념 분석

        The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of Greenhouse Effect as understood by middle school·high school·university students using a closed-form questionnaire. Based on results of the questionnaire which was administered to 619, the extent to which alternative concepts were held was quantified and compared the difference of various group based on grade level, gender, text and major. Also, subjects were divided into two groups, one is middle school students and the other is high school·university students and common themes within conceptual framework of each group were identified by factor analysis. The result showed that students confused Greenhouse Effect with ozone layer depletion in stratosphere and linked familiar contamination around everyday life, acid rain, radioactive contamination, nuclear arsenal to Greenhouse Effect. These trends were more appreciable in female than male, biology major than any other major and text did not make any significant difference. In addition, the result of factor analysis showed that two groups linked familiar contamination around everyday life to Greenhouse Effect and high school·university students understand the consequences of an increase in the Greenhouse Effect more systematically than middle school student, perceived the relation between the origin of an increase in the Greenhouse Effect and human activity but confused Greenhouse Effect with ozone layer depletion in stratosphere.

        멀티미디어 과학 학습 프로그램의 개발과 과학 학업 성취 , 학습에 대한 태도에 미치는 효과 연구

        The purpose of this study was to develop the computer assisted instruction program in multimedia environment, to examine the relative effects of two types of multimedia learning on science achievement and attitude towards science learning and to investigate the effects of treatment and students' learning ability. The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. On science achievement; The multimedia learnings were more effective than the traditional one. Difference between multimedia learning I(through individualistic learning) and multimedia learning II(through peer interaction) was not significant. There was not interaction effect of treatment and students' learning ability. 2. On attitude towards science learning; The multimedia learnings were more effective than the traditional one. The multimedia learning I(through individualistic learning) was more effective than the multimedia learning II(through peer interaction). There was no interaction of treatment and students' learning ability. 3. On students perceptions on multimedia learning; The students in the multimedia classes showed the multimedia learnings were good in causing interest, making students absorbed in studies, and giving many learning materials, but not good in a couple of points such as making students bored and not explaining in detail.

        중등학교 과학 수행평가의 평가 유형과 채점 방식 및 신뢰도 분석

        본 연구에서는 중등학교 과학 수행평가가 어떤 평가 유형과 채점 방식을 사용하고 있는지 분석하였으며, 이를 토대로 일반화가능도 이론을 이용하여 과학 수행평가 점수가 얼마나 신뢰로운지 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 과학 수행평가의 유형은 크게 지필형과 과제형으로 나눌 수 있었다. 지필형으로는 중등학교 모두 응답제한형 서술형검사만을 실시하고 있었다. 과제형은 과정 평가와 결과물 평가로 나눌 수 있었다 채점 방식은 1명의 교사가 모든 서술형문항과 수행과제를 채점하거나, 2명의 교사가 수행과제를 나누어 채점하고 있었다. 그러나 2명 이상의 교사가 서술형문항을 나누거나 교차하여 채점하는 경우는 없었다. 표집된 7개 중등학교 과학 수행평가의 신뢰도 분석 결과는 다음과 같다: (1) 서술형 문항의 특성이 수행과제의 특성보다 학생들의 수행평가 점수에 미치는 영향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다 (2) 수행과제 채점에서 채점자가 피험자를 다르게 채점하는 정도는 학교에 따라 상당한 차이가 있었다. (3) 7개 중등학교 과학 수행평가의 일반화가능도 (신뢰도)는 대부분 적정 수준인 0.80에 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났으며, 적정 수준의 일반화가능도를 얻기 위해서는 지금보다 더 많은 수의 서술형 문항과 수행과제 그리고 채점자가 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. In this study, we questioned what assessment types and scoring methods of science performance assessment(SPA) were being used in middle and high school, and how much these SPA scores were reliable(generalizable). To answer these questions, SPA data obtained from the seven schools were classified according to assessment type and scoring method. Based upon this classification, we analyzed the reliability by applying generalizability theory. The result, from the classification of assessment type and scoring method, showed that SPA types of the seven schools were divided into two types: paper-pencil type and task type. Paper-pencil type included answer(content)-restricted essay-type test solely. Task type has two parts: process and outcome assessment. As the results of analyzing scoring methods of the seven schools, there were two cases in the way of scoring methods: one case is scoring all essay-type items and performance tasks by one teacher, the other is scoring assigned performance tasks by two teachers. But the case of scoring assigned essay-type items or the case of cross scoring by two or more teachers were not found. The findings of the reliability analysis are as follows: (1) Effect of essay-type item to SPA score was larger than that of performance task. (2) There was remarkable difference among the seven schools' interaction effect of person and rater in scoring performance tasks. (3) Most of generalizability(reliability) coefficients of SPA for the seven schools were smaller than the acceptable generalizability coefficient(0.80). Therefore, the population of statistical parameters such as number of item, task and rater, should be increased for approaching the acceptable generalizability level.
