Vol.- No.45
This essay is on the conceptions of Taoism, Idleness and peripeteticism which are the essence of the thoughts of Laozi manifested in the poems of the Naturalist of 1930’s. In order to study the characteristics of Taoism in the poems of the pastoral poetry in 1930’s, the pastoral poems of Dongmyong Kim, Sangyong Kim, Seokjung Shin, Daljin Kim are chosen and analyzed. As a result of this study, the fact that the Taoism in those poems is manifested as the poetic spirits of life on which people live the idle life and enjoy the peripetetic freedom according to the Natural Law could be clarified. Those poems have the poetic spirit of pursuing the principles of natural life in common. Specifically in the poems of Sangyong Kim the recognition of original Home, in the poems of Dongmyong Kim the consciousness of Nature as Mother, and in the poems of Seokjung Shin the pursuit of Ideal Taotic world are variably manifested. Besides the Taoism, the spirit of Idleness is regarded as the religious conception in terms of that it is an answer to the question of the way to live. The spirit of Idleness is manifested in the poems of Daljin Kim as the extention of realization and cosmic consciousness, in the poems of Dongmyong Kim, as the wisdom to transcend the death, and in the poems of Seokjung Shin as the process to have the spiritual freedom with just idle watching things. The peripeteticism of Chuang-tzu means enjoying the unrestrained life in the absolute freedom. In the poems of Sangyong Kim the thoughts of the peripeteticism is manifested as the absolute freedom which is not the means of any purpose in life but is the purpose itself, in the poems of Seokjung Shin it is manifested as the spirit of pursuing the harmony with Nature and in the poems of Dongmyong Kim. as the absolute freedom to transcend the time.
