This study analyzed the persent situation of private tutoring, which is typical of the entrance examination-oriented education, in terms of the ecperience, type, and expense of private tutoring. Also this study investigated the concept of private tutoring, its causes and problems, and related policies. Especially the core causes of over-heated private tutoring were explained using the environmental and the educational factors. The environmental factor refers to the fact that the educational experiences are most highly estimated educationally, sociologically, and economically. The educational factor refers to the fact that the need for the enhancement of educational experiences, thus roused, cannot be satisfied by schooling. The related problems are; the over-heated private tutoring subdues the essential roles of schooling, and disturbs the fair competition in education.

The Korean polytechnics is the educational system for technologists, which is expending the continuing education opportunity, and taking the life-long education for its educational conception, and is the technologist educational system suitable for the modern industrial society. The Korean polytechnics is the open style of higher education which is established to tide over limitations of educational socialization in prior education system, in carrying out effectivly connection of school education and social education and its supporting function. Accordingly, it is earnestly reguire for government, college and business industry to be one cooperative system in order to be developed to promising polytechnics suitable for life-long education and modern industrial society.

Co2 assimilation and photosystem II (PSII) acivites various photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) conditions were compared in one-year-old cuttings of Vitis viniferaVlavrusca cv. ‘Campbell Early’ and ‘Kyoho’. Maximum Co2 assimilation rates in ‘Campbell Early’ and ‘Kyoho’ were 13.1 and 11.0 molám-2ás-1, respectively. Net Co2 assimilation rate was higher in ‘Campbell Early’ than in ‘Kyoho’ by 1-3 molám-2ás-1 depending on PPFD ranged from 500 to 2000 molám-2ás-1. However, apparent quantum yield, light compensation point, and dark respiration rate were not significantly different in the two cultivars. Quantum yields if PSII in both cultivars decreased linearly with increasing PPFD, except abrupt increase at 70 molám-2ás-1 PPFD. Electron transport rate (ETR) was higher in ‘Campbell Early’ than in ‘Kyoho’ beyond 500 molám-2ás-1 PPFD. Under PPFD conditions beyond light compensation point, net Co2 assimilation rate was curvilinearly related to stomatal conductance, indicating that Co2 assimilation was affcted by both stomatal and non-stomatal factors. Curvilinear relationship was also found between the responses of net Co2 assimilation rate and ETR to incident PPFD. Our results demonstrated that both cultivars had similar photosynthetic characteristics at low PPFD. At high PPFD, however, ‘Campbell Early’ exhibited higher Co2 assimilation rate.

The core of life-long education lies in the integration of education. In other words, it means the integration of the two ideas: the vertical and the horizontal education. The vertical education is what attempts to integrate the human education as a continuous process from the cradle to the grave. The horizontal education indicates various opportunities of education in a society such as home education, school education, and social education. The principle of integration in life-long education can be a theory of education which integrates the vertical education on the personal level with the horizontal educational opportunities of a whole society. Now the education of the whole world must be based on the principle of life-long education. Therefore, life-long education must be developed from the stage of an idea to the stage of a theory, and then from the stage of a theory to the stage of a policy. The system of life-long education is the education reformation which pursues integration and reorganization of each education area. In terms of policy, life-long education must be pursued as a principle in which the educational opportunity is guaranteed by the government and the society.
Evaluation of freezing injury in temperate fruit trees

Freezing is a major environmental stress limiting the geographical distribution, growth, and productivity of temperatefruit trees. The extent of freezing injury in the trees depends on the rate at which the temperature decreases, the minimumtemperature reached, and the duration of the freezing conditions. The ability to tolerate freezing temperatures under naturalconditions varies greatly among fruit tree species, cultivars, and tissues. Freezing injury must be precisely evaluated to reliablypredict the winter survival and productivity of the trees in specifi c regions, to screen for tolerant species and cultivars,and to develop cultural strategies that reduce freezing stress. Various methods are used to evaluate freezing injury in temperatefruit trees under fi eld and artifi cial conditions, including visual evaluation of tissue discoloration, thermal analysis,determination of electrolyte leakage, and triphenyl tetrazolium chloride reduction analysis. In this review, we describe themost frequently used experimental procedures for evaluating freezing injury.
