Influence of load on the recycling stability of nanospheres attached platinium ion for determination of glucose

Elvan Hasanog˘lu O¨ zkan,Nurdan Kurnaz Yetim,Dilek Nartop,Nurs¸ en Sarı 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.25 No.-

New nanospheres have been prepared with Pt2+ and Pt4+ for compare enzymatic properties of glucose oxidase enzyme (GOx). In this study nanoparticles, (aminomethyl)polystyrene (APS), 2-hydroxy-5- methylbenzaldehyde and Pt2+/Pt4+ have been synthesized by means of template and investigated the enzymatic properties of glucose oxidase enzyme (GOx) immobilized on there. The characteristics of the immobilized glucose oxidase (APS–Pt2+–GOx and APS–Pt4+–GOx) enzyme showed one optimum pH value. The influence of temperature, reusability and storage capacity on the free and immobilized glucose oxidase enzyme have been investigated. It is found that nanosphere including platinium atom exhibits excellent performance as the immobilized supporter of GOx, the immobilized enzyme demonstrates perfected storage and recycling stability. APS–Pt2+–GOx retains more than 30% of the initial activity after 32 successive cycles, which is a remarkable result.

      • Immunomodulatory Function of Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells during B Cell-Mediated Immune Responses

        Ö,zkan, Bilgenaz,Lim, Heejin,Park, Sung-Gyoo MDPI 2018 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES Vol.19 No.5

<P>Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) play roles in immune regulation during neoplastic and non-neoplastic inflammatory responses. This immune regulatory function is directed mainly toward T cells. However, MDSCs also regulate other cell populations, including B cells, during inflammatory responses. Indeed, B cells are essential for antibody-mediated immune responses. MDSCs regulate B cell immune responses directly via expression of effector molecules and indirectly by controlling other immune regulatory cells. B cell-mediated immune responses are a major component of the overall immune response; thus, MDSCs play a prominent role in their regulation. Here, we review the current knowledge about MDSC-mediated regulation of B cell responses.</P>

Application of Taguchi method in the optimization of dissolution of ulexite in NH4Cl solutions

Özkan Küçük 한국화학공학회 2006 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.23 No.1

Taguchi method was used to determine optimum conditions for the dissolution of ulexite in NH4Clsolutions. The ranges of experimental parameters were betwen 50-87oC for reaction temperature, 0.05-0.20 g·mL14Cl concentration, 5-25 min for reaction time, and (850+600)-(90) m forparticle size. The optimum conditions for these parameters were found to be 87oC, 0.05 g·mL1, 4 M, (30+212)m, and 18 minutes, respectively. Under these conditions, the dissolution percentage of ulexite in NH4Cl solution was98.37. Reaction products were found to be boric acid, ammonium tetraborates, sodium tetraborate decahydrate, calciumchloride, and sodium chloride.

Maternal Identity Development Education on Maternity Role Attainment and My Baby Perception of Primiparas

Hava Özkan,Sevinç Polat 한국간호과학회 2011 Asian Nursing Research Vol.5 No.2

Perpose There are no interventional study results directed at maternal identity development education, including all stages of maternity role attainment, for expectant mothers with healthy babies. This research was conducted to assess the effect of maternal identity development education on the maternity role attainment and my baby perception of primigravidas. Methods The research was carried out by using pretest-posttest quasi-experimental model with control group. A total of 120 mothers and their babies participated in this study. In the collection of the data, Personal Information Form, Semantic Differentation Scale-Myself as Mother and My Baby and the Pharis Self-Confidence Scale were used. Results It was detected that the training of identification development given for the mothers increased score averages taken from the scales of Myself as Mother, My Baby and the Pharis Self-Confidence Scale; this increase was statistically significant. There was a significant positive correlation between the Pharis Self-Confidence Scale post-test score averages and scales of Myself as Mother and My Baby. Conclusions Nurses should offer maternal identity development education, support the baby perception process in the early postnatal stages, and help develop the self-confidence of the mother in order for mothers to develop successful motherhood behaviors. Maternal identity development education should be routinely offered to all expectant mothers by specialized nurses, not just to primigravidas. There is a requirement for similar studies to be conducted on broader populations related to the subject.

Ceramic properties of a Turkish clay in the Aydın region

Ilker ÖZKAN 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2014 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.15 No.1

The aim of this study is to determine the ceramic properties of Karacasu clay (KC) fired at various temperatures. For this purpose, the clay sample was first characterized by chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), DTA/TG analysis and plasticity measurements. The mineralogical composition of KC was dominated by illite/mica, kaolinite, smectite, quartz and hematite. DTA/TG analyses showed comparable behaviour to those of illitic clays. The data obtained from plasticity tests indicated that KC was very high plastic clay. To evaluate firing behaviors, pressed clay samples were fired separately at temperatures between 850 and 1200℃. Fired specimens were evaluated by water absorption, linear shrinkage, bulk density, bending strength, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that there became a significant densification at temperatures especially above 1000℃. Based on the technological characteristics, KC could be used in the manufacture of structural ceramics.

TURKISH ECONOMY AND COMPARATIVE MAIN INDICATORS Turgut Ozkan After the global crisis which started in 2008, the production balance of the world shifted to Asia. Refraining from producing solutions for structural economic problems of Western countries caused them to be passive against this change. Turkey, analyzed the global change correctly, has canalized to have a correct position by making unimportant the policy of integration to the west which has maintained desperately for years. This study aims to determine whether Turkey has adequate economic and financial performance for the new roadmap or not. Thus, the main economic and financial indicators of Turkey are analyzed comparatively with other countries. A conclusion was reached that Turkey economy has a strong, effective and sustainable economic and financial performance except for the problems of unemployment and inflation.

Comparison of the Effects of Electroacupuncture and Melatonin on Nerve Regeneration in Experimentally Nerve-Damaged Rats

        Yasemin Özkan,Mehmet Turgut,Yasemin Turan,Mehmet Dinçer Bilgin,Sinem Sari,Mustafa Yilmaz,Yiğit Uyanikgil,Mahmut Alp Kiliç,Derya Tanriöver,Zehra Seznur Kasar 사단법인약침학회 2021 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.14 No.5

Background: Development of methods to accelerate nerve regeneration in peripheral nerve damage is important. Electroacupuncture is a new therapeutic method that combines traditional acupuncture with modern electrotherapy. Melatonin has been shown to reduce nerve damage. Objectives: In this study, we aimed to determine and compare the therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture and melatonin on rat sciatic nerve injury. Methods: A total of 56 adult male Wistar Albino rats were divided into four study groups with 14 animals in each group: intact control (group I), subcutaneous saline (group II), subcutaneous melatonin (group III), and electroacupuncture (group IV). Surgical procedure including unilateral (right) sciatic nerve injury was applied to groups II, III, and IV. Saline and melatonin started immediately after surgery for six weeks, while electroacupuncture was given two weeks after surgery for 3 weeks. Functional and histological assessments were used as outcome measurements. Results: Sciatic nerve damage caused a significant decrease in nerve conduction velocity. Both electroacupuncture treatment and melatonin treatment significantly increased the nerve conduction velocity. Both sciatic functional recovery and histological regeneration were faster in these treatment groups compared to the saline. However, no significant difference was observed between the two treatment groups. Conclusion: Electroacupuncture and melatonin are promising alternative treatment strategies for peripheral nerve damage and can be examined in detail in future studies.

Evaluation of wind loads and the potential of Turkey's south west region by using log-normal and gamma distributions

Ramazan Özkan,Faruk Sen,Serkan Balli 한국풍공학회 2020 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.31 No.4

In this study, wind data such as speeds, loads and potential of Muğla which is located in the southwest of Turkey were statistically analyzed. The wind data which consists of hourly wind speed between 2010 and 2013 years, was measured at the 10-meters height in four different ground stations (Datça, Fethiye, Marmaris, Köyceğiz). These stations are operated by The Turkish State Meteorological Service (T.S.M.S). Furthermore, wind data was analyzed by using Log-Normal and Gamma distributions, since these distributions fit better than Weibull, Normal, Exponential and Logistic distributions. Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and the coefficients of the goodness of fit (R2) were also determined by using statistical analysis. According to the results, extreme wind speed in the research area was 33 m/s at the Datça station. The effective wind load at this speed is 0.68 kN/m2. The highest mean power densities for Datça, Fethiye, Marmaris and Köyceğiz were found to be 46.2, 1.6, 6.5 and 2.2 W/m2, respectively. Also, although Log-normal distribution exhibited a good performance i.e., lower AD (Anderson – Darling statistic (AD) values) values, Gamma distribution was found more suitable in the estimation of wind speed and power of the region.
