      • Selling a Myth in Mordogan County

        G?k?e ?zdemir,Turgut Var 세계문화관광학회 2008 Conference Proceedings Vol.9 No.0

The destinations are becoming vastly competitive worldwide. New destinations emerge with the pressure of globalization and the competitiveness it creates. Tourists are pulled to the destination by the combination and variety of attractions, events and services they promise to offer. There are many advantageous tourism resources in the region such as the spring of Narcissus and the elephant fossils. Myth, representing unrecorded history, is an important means of selling the culture and enhancing the image of the destination. Therefore, when compared to the natural and historical riches of the region, it is marked that tourism is not at all at the level where it should be. This study examines Mordogan County as a tourist destination and offers a positioning strategy in regard with its myth.

Maximization of Total Surface Area of Pt-SnO₂/Al₂O₃ Catalyst by the Taguchi Method

        zdemir, Cem,Akin, Ays¸e Nilgu¨n,Yildirim, Ramazan 한국화학공학회 2003 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.20 No.5

The maximization of the total surface area of Pt-SnO₂/Al₂O₃ catalyst was studied by using the Taguchi method of experimental design. The catalysts were prepared by sol-gel method. The effects of HNO₃, H₂O and aluminum nitrate concentrations and the stirring rate on the total surface area were studied at three levels of each. L? orthogonal array leading nine experiments was used in the experimental design. The parameter levels that give maximum total surface area were determined and experimentally verified. In the range of conditions studied it was found that, medium levels of HNO₃, H₂O concentration and lower levels of aluminum nitrate concentration and stirring rate maximize the total surface area.

Determination of gold and palladium in environmental samples by FAAS after dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction pretreatment

        Cos¸ kun O¨ zdemir,S¸ erife Sac¸macı,SenolKartal,Mustafa Sac¸macı 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.6

A new dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) method is proposed for rapid separation, simultaneous extraction and preconcentration of gold and palladium at ultra trace amounts. Theextraction of the analytes was performed in the presence of 5-[(E)-(2,6-diaminopyridine-3-yl)diazenyl]-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol (DAT) as chelating agent. Chloroform and acetone were used as extraction anddispersive solvents, respectively. The variables affecting the complexation and extraction conditionswere optimized. The calibration curves were linear in the range of 1.1–85 and 0.9–124 mg L-1 with thedetection limits of 0.4 and 0.6 mg L-1, and with the enrichment factors of 94 and 113 for Au and Pd,respectively. The precision (RSD%) was better than 2.4%. The accuracy of the method was verified byanalysing the certified standard reference material (CDN–PGMS-10). The results show that thedispersive liquid–liquid microextraction pretreatment is a sensitive, rapid, simple and safe method forthe separation/preconcentration of gold and palladium.

      • Quantum plasmonics

        Tame, M. S.,McEnery, K. R.,Ã,,zdemir, K.,Lee, J.,Maier, S. A.,Kim, M. S. NATURE PUBLISHING GROUP 2013 Nature physics Vol.9 No.6

<P>Quantum plasmonics is a rapidly growing field of research that involves the study of the quantum properties of light and its interaction with matter at the nanoscale. Here, surface plasmons-electromagnetic excitations coupled to electron charge density waves on metal-dielectric interfaces or localized on metallic nanostructures-enable the confinement of light to scales far below that of conventional optics. We review recent progress in the experimental and theoretical investigation of the quantum properties of surface plasmons, their role in controlling light-matter interactions at the quantum level and potential applications. Quantum plasmonics opens up a new frontier in the study of the fundamental physics of surface plasmons and the realization of quantum-controlled devices, including single-photon sources, transistors and ultra-compact circuitry at the nanoscale.</P>

Oral Immunotherapy in Food Allergy: Where Are We Now?

        Özdemir Pınar Gökmirza,Sato Sakura,Yanagida Noriyuki,Ebisawa Motohiro 대한천식알레르기학회 2023 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.15 No.2

Food allergy (FA) has become more prevalent and problematic in the last 2 decades, and it poses important individual, social, and economic burdens. Besides treating reactions induced by accidental exposure and periodic evaluation for acquiring natural tolerance, the primary management approach is still allergen avoidance as a global standard. However, an active therapeutic approach that can raise the reaction threshold or accelerate tolerance is needed. This review aimed to provide an overview and the latest evidence of oral immunotherapy (OIT), which has recently been used in the active treatment of FA. FA immunotherapy, particularly OIT, is gaining considerable interest, and substantial effort has been made to integrate this active treatment into clinical practice. Consequently, growing evidence has been obtained regarding the efficacy and safety of OIT, particularly for allergens such as peanuts, eggs, and milk. However, several issues need to be addressed regarding the availability, safety, and long-term effects of this intervention. In this review, we summarize currently available information regarding tolerance-inducing immune mechanisms of OIT, data on efficacy and safety, gaps in current evidence, and ongoing research to develop new therapeutic molecules in order to enhance safety.

Articular Cartilage Regeneration Utilizing Decellularized Human Placental Scaffold, Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Platelet Rich Plasma

        Özdemir Erdi,Emet Abdülsamet,Hashemihesar Ramin,Yürüker Ali Celalettin Sinan,Kılıç Emine,Uçkan Çetinkaya Duygu,Turhan Egemen 한국조직공학과 재생의학회 2020 조직공학과 재생의학 Vol.17 No.6

Background: Articular cartilage repair has been a challenge in orthopedic practice due to the limited self-regenerative capability. Optimal treatment method for cartilage defects has not been defined. We investigated the effect of decellularized human placental (DHP) scaffold, mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on hyaline cartilage regeneration in a rat model. Methods: An osteochondral defect was created in trochlea region of the femur in all groups, bilaterally. No additional procedure was performed in control group (n = 14). Only the DHP scaffold was applied to the P group (n = 14). The DHP scaffold and 1 × 106 MSCs were applied to the PS group (n = 14). The DHP scaffold and PRP were applied to the PP group (n = 14). The DHP scaffold, 1 × 106 MSCs and PRP were applied to the PSP group (n = 14). Outcome measures at 12 weeks included Pineda histology score and qualitative histology. Results: The mean Pineda scores of P, PS, PP, and PSP groups were significantly better than the control group (p = 0.031, p = 0.002, p < 0.001, p < 0001, respectively). There was no statistically difference in mean Pineda scores of P, PS, PP, and PSP groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, the DHP scaffold appears to be a promising scaffold on hyaline cartilage regeneration. The augmentation of DHP scaffold with MSCs and PRP combinations did not enhance its efficacy on articular cartilage regeneration.

NOTES ON GENERALIZED FIBONACCI NUMBERS AND MATRICES

        ( Halim Özdemir ),( Sinan Karakaya ),( Tuğba Petik ) 호남수학회 2022 호남수학학술지 Vol.44 No.4

In this study, some new relations between generalized Fibonacci numbers and matrices are given. The work is designed in three stages: Firstly, it is obtained a relation between generalized Fibonacci numbers and integer powers of the matrices X satisfying the relation X2 = pX +qI, and also, many results are derived from obtained relation. Then, it is established more general relation between generalized Fibonacci numbers and the square matrices X satisfying the condition X2 = VnX - (-q)nI. Finally, some applications and numerical examples related to the obtained results are given.

A Rare Complication of Lumbar Spinal Surgery: Pneumocephalus

Uğur Özdemir 대한신경손상학회 2017 Korean Journal of Neurotrauma Vol.13 No.2

A 25-year-old male patient with severe thigh and right side pain was presented. In the lumbar magnetic resonance images, there was a contrasting spinal cord tumor image with 1 cm in diameter at the level of the L3 vertebra. The patient was operated and the tumor was totally removed. All the pain of the patient recovered. The patient’s postoperative two days werevery comfortable and the patient was early mobilized. On the third postoperative day, the patient complained of severeheadache, nausea and vomiting. Immediate cranial computed tomography (CT) images was performed. Cerebral pneumocephalus was present in CT. The patient was treated with defnite bed rest and plenty of fluid replacement. After threedays, the patient’s complaints were completely improved. This improvement was confrmed by performing a cerebral CTscan. In the formation of pneumocephalus, air is compressed into the intradural space during operation and this passes tothe cerebral space. Defnite bed rest, abundant fluid replacement and, in addition, highly inspired oxygen therapy are suffcient to correct the condition.
