<P>Nanoelectromechanical (NEM) switches have received widespread attention as promising candidates in the drive to surmount the physical limitations currently faced by complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology. The NEM switch has demonstrated superior characteristics including quasi-zero leakage behaviour, excellent density capability and operation in harsh environments. However, an unacceptably high operating voltage (4-20 V) has posed a major obstacle in the practical use of the NEM switch in low-power integrated circuits. To utilize the NEM switch widely as a core device component in ultralow power applications, the operation voltage needs to be reduced to 1 V or below. However, sub-1 V actuation has not yet been demonstrated because of fabrication difficulties and irreversible switching failure caused by surface adhesion. Here, we report the sub-1 V operation of a NEM switch through the introduction of a novel pipe clip device structure and an effective air gap fabrication technique. This achievement is primarily attributed to the incorporation of a 4-nm-thick air gap, which is the smallest reported so far for a NEM switch generated using a 'top-down' approach. Our structure and process can potentially be utilized in various nanogap-related applications, including NEM switch-based ultralow-power integrated circuits, NEM resonators, nanogap electrodes for scientific research and sensors.</P>

The glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common malignant brain tumor in adults. Despite combination treatments of radiation and chemotherapy, the survival periods are very short. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the potential of ginsenoside $F_2$ (F2) to treat GBM. In in vitro experiments with glioblastoma cells U373MG, F2 showed the cytotoxic effect with $IC_{50}$ of 50 ${\mu}g/mL$ through apoptosis, confirmed by DNA condensation and fragmentation. The cell population of cell cycle sub-G1 as indicative of apoptosis was also increased. In xenograft model in SD rats, F2 at dosage of 35 mg/kg weight was intravenously injected every two days. This reduced the tumor growth in magnetic resonance imaging images. The immunohistochemistry revealed that the anticancer activity might be mediated through inhibition of proliferation judged by Ki67 and apoptosis induced by activation of caspase-3 and -8. And the lowered expression of CD31 showed the reduction in blood vessel densities. The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 for invasion of cancer was also inhibited. The cell populations with cancer stem cell markers of CD133 and nestin were reduced. The results of this study suggested that F2 could be a new potential chemotherapeutic drug for GBM treatment by inhibiting the growth and invasion of cancer.
High-throughput screening of protein variations in soybean seeds.

The protein in soybean seeds accounts for approximately 40% of the dry seed weight. Two major storage proteins, 7S and 11S, constitute 70-80% of the total storage proteins in the seeds. In this study, the variation of total soluble protein extracts from 1152 soybean landraces that have been collected from South Korea were studied using high-throughput screening method with HT Protein Express Labchip (Caliper Life Sciences, Inc.). Seven distinct protein band patterns - four protein sub-units of 11S and three sub-units of 7S, were taken into account and their presence or absence were analyzed. Among the 1152 landraces, 525 genotypes were identified as lacking lipoxygenase, 255 lacking α1 subunit, 680 lacking α subunit, 169 lacking β subunit, 140 lacking acidic, 114 lacking Kunitz Trypsin Inhibitor (KTi) and 199 lacking basic protein patterns. The high-throughput protein analysis is helpful in screening a large number of populations with less time and minimum labor. The selected genotypes with low amounts or lacking of anti-nutritional factors such as trypsin inhibitor, lipoxygenase and α subunit would be used for future breeding purpose of quality improvement in soybean protein.
압력용기 구조물 용접부에서 잔류응력이 피로균열진전거동에 미치는 영향

This paper is to investigated the influence of welding residual stresses on the fatigue crack growth behaviors in the vertical direction to the weld bead. So, Co₂Automatic welding was performed on the ASTM A5l6 grade 60 Steel. For skip and continuous fillet welding, the specimens of fatigue cracks are initiated at toe end and beginning of welded specimen. The fatigue life of continue fillet welding is greater then that of skip fillet welding. The fatigue lief of as welded specimen is longer than that of PWHT specimen because the compression residual stress are greater than the other zone, which are near the welding toe notch of welded specimen. For skip and continuous fillet welding, da/dN-ΔK relations show retardation at HAZ and increase linearly at the stable growth region.
Die-upset Nd_(15)Fe_(77)B_8 자석의 자기적 특성에 미치는 제조조건 및 Ga 첨가의 영향

The effects of process parameters and Ga addition on the magnetic properties of die-upset Nd_15Fe_77B_6 magnets were studied. The intrinsic coercivity (_iH_C) was decreased because of grain coarsening by die-upset process. The Remanence (4πM_r) was varied by the extend of crystalline anisotropy. The alignment of c axis depend on the temperature and speed of die-upset process. The coercivity loss by die upsetting was reduced with Ga addition.

This study deals with the halluciantions reported, during a standard interview, by 25 patients of schizophrenic groups and 15 patients of alcoholic withdrawal state. The data obtained from the interviews were analysed to contrast and compare (a) demographic variables, (b) rates of occurrence of halluciantions, (c) qualities of these aberrant sensory perceptions, (d) the manifest content of the halluciantions. 1) 25 patients of schizpphrenia and 15 patients of alcoholic psychoses reported having some type of hallucination; 95% of auditory hallucination in schizophrenia, and 80% of visual hallucination in alcoholic psychoses. 2) The content of the hallucinations differed between the groups, Alcholic psychotic patients accentuated every day affair themes whereas schizophrenic groups gave more responses regarded as persecutory and spirituality. 3) Only the schizophrenic groups localized the phenomena internally to any degree; but even here the majority were externally perceived, as were nearly of alcoholic groups. 4) Patients reacted adaptively to their productions in a large percentage of two groups, whether or not they regarded the experiences as "real". 5) Negative adaptive behavior was more notable in the alcoholic group, and to a lesser extent the schizophrenic proup. 6) Alcohloic groups were localized in space and had a greater frequency than those of the schizophrenics: the frequency was relatively independent of emotional state. The schizophrenic's hallucinations had a cogintive tanit, were poorly localized, and showed a sensitivity to emotional arousal.
괴상석탄재와 폐주물사를 사용한 경량모르터의 물성에 관한 연구

In this study, bottom ash, lightweight aggregate, and Expanded Polystyrene was used to lighten the mortar. In order to compensate the reduction of strength caused by lightening, the waste foundry sand produced as soild waste was substituted for fine aggregate. As the device of reducing the ratio of absorption, the procedure of mixture was altered to check the effectiveness of surface coating of porous lightweight aggregate. It was observed over 170kg/㎠ compressive strength at about 1.3, and over waste foundry sand, and the ratio of absorption was decreased over 10% by changing the procedure of mixture.

Bio-and-photodegradable polymer composites were prepared by blending biodegradable aliphatic polyester and photodegradable master batch(M/B). Photodegradability, biodegradability, thermal properties and mechanical properties were investigated. The biodegradability of EnPol(G4600) composites decreased wish increasing the amount of M/B, while that of EnPol(G8000) composites increased. Tensile strength and elongation decreased with increasing the time of outdoor exposure and the amount of M/B but modulus comparatively maintained. The mechenical properties decreased as the content of M/B increased, while the melting temperature unchanged.
