        Characteristics and formation mode of salt-bearing series in typical rift valley basin, eastern China

        The Shulu Sag is a typical rift valley basin in easternChina, where the formation mechanism of Cenozoic salt-bearingseries has been poorly understood. In this paper, petrologic analysis,X-ray powder Diffraction (XRD) analysis and the analysis ofhalite ion concentrations of the first member of the Shahejie Formationfrom two drilling cores were conducted to interpret theformation mechanism of these salt-bearing series in Shulu Sag. Theresults indicated that the salt-bearing series is mainly composed of calcilutiteor mudstone at top and bottom, and anhydrite-bearing haliteand thin interbeds of salt-bearing calcilutite and dark grey shale inthe middle part. These thin interbeds with porphyritic or petalshapedglauberite crystals or some thinner dark grey shale interbedsseparated halites into several members with the average thicknessof only 9~12 cm in the two drilling holes. This typical rhythmicpattern due to frequent alternation of concentration was evidencedby the variation of chemical composition and hydrogen isotopes ofhalite fluid inclusions. The presence of large number of primaryfluid inclusions within chevron crystals and vertically orientedbottom-growth crystals showed that the halite were precipitated inshallow water (<60 cm). These features are direct evidence for thisfrequent alternation of dissolution and concentration of brines andterrigenous detrital-chemical shallow-water sedimentary model ofthese small rift-valley basins in eastern China.

        Methylation of methyltrichlorosilane with methyl chloride over active metals and activated carbon

        Gas phase methylation of methyltrichlorosilane with methyl chloride to high-valued dimethyldichlorosilane was carried out by using metallic aluminum as a chlorine acceptor in the co-presence of activated carbon, tin, and zinc. The addition of activated carbon in metallic aluminum significantly enhanced the methylation of methyltrichlorosilane,and dimethyldichlorosilane was dominantly produced. Activated carbon played a catalyst role in the methylation reaction. When active metals, such as tin and zinc, were added in the mixture of aluminum and activated carbon,the active metals and activated carbon synergistically catalyzed the methylation of methyltrichlorosilane with methyl chloride toward the formation of dimethyldichlorosilane.

        A Fast and Secure Scheme for Data Outsourcing in the Cloud

        Data outsourcing in the cloud (DOC) is a promising solution for data management at the present time, but it could result in the disclosure of outsourced data to unauthorized users. Therefore, protecting the confidentiality of such data has become a very challenging issue. The conventional way to achieve data confidentiality is to encrypt the data via asymmetric or symmetric encryptions before outsourcing. However, this is computationally inefficient because encryption/decryption operations are time-consuming. In recent years, a few DOC schemes based on secret sharing have emerged due to their low computational complexity. However, Dautrich and Ravishankar pointed out that most of them are insecure against certain kinds of collusion attacks. In this paper, we proposed a novel DOC scheme based on Shamir`s secret sharing to overcome the security issues of these schemes. Our scheme can allow an authorized data user to recover all data files in a specified subset at once rather than one file at a time as required by other schemes that are based on secret sharing. Our thorough analyses showed that our proposed scheme is secure and that its performance is satisfactory.

        Auxin signaling is involved in iron deficiency-induced photosynthetic inhibition and shoot growth defect in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

        Iron deficiency is one of the most serious nutrient limiting factors that affect rice plant growth and photosynthesis. Several phytohormones, including auxin, participate in iron uptake and homeostasis. However, how auxin signaling is involved in iron deficiency-induced inhibition of shoot growth and photosynthetic efficiency is largely unknown. The Nipponbare (NIP) seedlings displayed typical chlorotic symptoms, biomass reduction and photosynthesis depression when subjected to iron deficiency. We measured the soluble Fe content in the shoots under different conditions. The soluble Fe content in the shoots under Fe deficiency was increased by 1-naphthoxyaceticacids (1-NOA) treatment and was decreased by 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) treatment. Blocking (1-NOA treatment) or enhancement (NAA treatment) of auxin signaling also affects photosynthetic parameters under Fe deficiency conditions. Furthermore, rice microarray data (GSE17245 and GSE39429) were used to analyze the relationship between iron deficiency responses and auxin signaling in shoots. Most iron deficiency response gene expression levels in the shoots increased under exogenous auxin treatment, and most auxin early response gene expression levels responded to iron deficiency. It suggested that there is a crosstalk between iron deficiency signaling and auxin signaling. Our results indicated that iron deciencyinduced growth inhibition and photosynthesis depression were mediated by systemic auxin signaling.

        Integration of wastewater treatment units and optimization of waste residue pyrolysis conditions in the brominated phenol flame retardant industry

        Among the bromine flame retardants, tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) is a highly effective flame retardantthat can be used as both reactive and additive. However, the synthesis reaction of TBBPA has alow conversion rate and many brominated phenolic organics. Therefore, there is an urgent need toremove brominated organic pollutants produced in the process of producing flame retardants to reducethe harm to the environment and human beings and to reduce production costs. In this study, an efficientprocess was developed to treat the wastewater and waste residue generated in TBBPA production process,realizing its harmless and resource utilization. In the resource utilization system, through the ingeniousdesign of solution mixing, precipitation separation, three-effect evaporation and concentration,valuable substances were extracted to realize the recovery and reuse of wastewater. In the harmless utilizationprocess of hazardous waste residue, through high-temperature pyrolysis at 500 C for 2 h afteroptimization with hypoxia-hyperoxia atmosphere modulation, it can avoid the production of dioxinsand carbon black, effectively remove the organic impurities, realize the harmlessness and obtain highqualitysodium sulfate. This paper aims to propose a simple, efficient and feasible utilization system,including the three major technological processes of TBBPA production, integrated wastewater treatmentand optimized the harmless treatment of waste residue to obtain sodium sulfate, so as to realize TBBPAgreen production. Compared with the traditional TBBPA synthesis system, wastewater and waste residuetreatment processes, the TBBPA quality is increased by 2 % and the economic cost is reduced by 10 %,which is of great significance to the development of the industry.

        Predicting the Compression Index of Saturated Reconstituted Contaminated Clays Using Index Properties

        An empirical equation was proposed to predict compression index (Cc) of saturated reconstituted contaminated clays. Experimental data from 464 oedometer tests from literature were analyzed, aiding to develop a method for predicting the Cc of saturated reconstituted contaminated clays. The predictive capacity of three existing empirical equations of Cc with either liquid limit (wL), plasticity index (PI) or initial porosity (n0) was assessed. It was found that these equations previously used for clean soils roughly predict the Cc value of saturated reconstituted contaminated clays. To better predict the Cc, a series of empirical equations were established by regression analysis of the experimental data. Finally, the “best” equation was determined by an assessment of goodness of fit.

        Transmission efficiency and optimization of the power‑confluence magnet planetary gear

        The power confluence of increasing speed is realized prior to merging multiple input shafts with the same power into a single output. A new type of power-confluence magnet planetary gear (PMPG) transmission structure is proposed, and a design scheme of power confluence is given. By establishing a PMPG simulation model and combining the dynamic finite-element method with the response surface method, the relationship between the main structural parameters and transmission efficiency is optimized. Results show that an optimized structure can effectively reduce eddy current loss and improve transmission efficiency under the condition that the radial length of the structure remains unchanged.

        Multi‑objective parameter optimization of multi‑shaft ring‑plate magnetic gear

        Parameter setting and optimization are key steps to improving the transmission performance of eccentric permanent magnetgear. Studying this step makes it possible to analyze the transmission relationship between the design parameters, and improve both the operation stability and the carrying capacity of eccentric permanent magnet gear. Taking multi-shaft ring-plate magnet gear (MRMG) as the research object, this paper analyzes the influence of actual structural parameters on torque performance through the comprehensive sensitivity method, and selects the parameters with the greatest influence as the main optimization parameters. Then using the BSO algorithm and the BP neural network, a prediction model of MRMG electromagnetic torque and torque density is established, the relationship between each of the parameters is analyzed, and the optimization parameter points are determined. By comparison with finite element simulations and experiments, the built model and its measured results and FEM analysis are shown to have good accuracy (error < 6%). Moreover, the model can quickly and accurately obtain optimization parameters, and greatly improve the transmission performance of the structure (the maximum torque increases by 15%, and the torque density increases by 36%).
