      • Salt-controlled dissolution in pigment cathode for high-capacity and long-life magnesium organic batteries

        Cui, Lianmeng,Zhou, Limin,Zhang, Kai,Xiong, Fangyu,Tan, Shuangshuang,Li, Maosheng,An, Qinyou,Kang, Yong-Mook,Mai, Liqiang Elsevier 2019 Nano energy Vol.65 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Benefiting from high volumetric energy density and generally dendrite-free growth of Mg metal, rechargeable magnesium batteries (MBs) become a promising next-generation energy storage system. Organic electrode materials, with characteristic of sustainable resource and flexible structure, have been widely studied in alkali metal ion batteries, but are rarely reported in MBs. Herein, we demonstrate that 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) serves as a cathode material for MBs in non-aqueous system, which realizes a fast diffusion kinetics and remarkable Mg-storage performance through a salt-dissolution inhibition approach for the electrolyte. The PTCDA exhibits a reversible capacity of 126 mAh g−1 (at 200 mA g−1), excellent rate performance, and good cycling stability (100 mAh g−1 even after 150 cycles). Furthermore, the evolution mechanism of the PTCDA electrode based on the transformation between carbonyl groups (CO) and enolate groups (C–O) is revealed by <I>ex-situ</I> phase characterization and functional group analysis. Besides, the dissolution inhibition of the PTCDA could also be realized through the incorporation of other soluble salt (KCl or NaCl) into all phenyl complex (APC) electrolyte, resulting in an enhanced cycling capacity. Considering the designable configuration of the organic materials, this work would pave way for their utilization on multi-valent ion batteries and provide efficient strategy to realize high voltage and satisfied cycle life.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The magnesium anode in organic system was realized combined with the solubility inhibition of the host materials. </LI> <LI> Compared with other inorganic cathode materials, the PTCDA is eligible to offset the defect of Mg2+ transport dynamics. </LI> <LI> Compared with other Mg-storage materials reported, the PTCDA demonstrates a high working voltage plateau and a small polarization. </LI> <LI> The electrochemical mechanism of the PTCDA is proved to be the transformation between carbonyl groups and enolate groups. </LI> <LI> The incorporation of dissolvable salts inhibited the dissolution of the PTCDA. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Dexmedetomidine targets miR-146a and participates in the progress of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in vivo and in vitro

        Li Na,Li Shuangfeng,Wu Yehua,Xiong Lu,Li Tiejun,Xing Dandan,Li Qiuchang,Wu Duozhi 한국유전학회 2021 Genes & Genomics Vol.43 No.12

Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic lung disease and the third leading cause of death in the world. Dexmedetomidine has been reported to efectively inhibit histamine-induced bronchoconstriction. However, the molecular mechanism of dexmedetomidine in COPD has not been found. Objective To explore the role and mechanism of dexmedetomidine in COPD, and to provide theoretical basis for clinical treatment of COPD. Methods The expression of miR-146a was regulated by mimics or inhibitor and the relative expression of apoptotic proteins p53, Bax and Bcl-2 in human bronchial epithelial 16HBE cells was determined by real-time PCR and Western blot. Dexmedetomidine was treated for 16HBE cells and alveolar epithelial type II cells (AEC2), the cell apoptosis was detected by TUNEL and Hoechst33342 staining. A COPD rat model was established by smoking to test the efects of dexmedetomidine on the progression of COPD. The levels of IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α in serum were measured by ELISA and the protein concentration of bronchoalveolar lavage fuid (BALF) was also detected in dexmedetomidine treated COPD rat model. Results miR-146a promoted 16HBE cell apoptosis and reduced cell proliferation. Additionally, dexmedetomidine was showed to reduce the 16HBEL cell apoptosis through reducing the expression of miR-146a. Moreover, dexmedetomidine regulated cell apoptosis and cell apoptosis through miR-146a in AEC2 cells. More importantly, dexmedetomidine attenuated the morphology and pathology of COPD rat model. Conclusion Dexmedetomidine reduced 16HBE cells and AEC2 cell apoptosis and attenuated COPD by down-regulating miR-146a.

      • Microarray Analysis of Long Non-coding RNA Expression Profile Associated with 5-Fluorouracil-Based Chemoradiation Resistance in Colorectal Cancer Cells

        Xiong, Wei,Jiang, Yong-Xin,Ai, Yi-Qin,Liu, Shan,Wu, Xing-Rao,Cui, Jian-Guo,Qin, Ji-Yong,Liu, Yan,Xia, Yao-Xiong,Ju, Yun-He,He, Wen-Jie,Wang, Yong,Li, Yun-Fen,Hou, Yu,Wang, Li,Li, Wen-Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8

Background: Preoperative 5-fluorouracil (5-FU)-based chemoradiotherapy is a standard treatment for locally advanced colorectal cancer (CRC). However, CRC cells often develop chemoradiation resistance (CRR). Recent studies have shown that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) plays critical roles in a myriad of biological processes and human diseases, as well as chemotherapy resistance. Since the roles of lncRNAs in 5-FU-based CRR in human CRC cells remain unknown, they were investigated in this study. Materials and Methods: A 5-FU-based concurrent CRR cell model was established using human CRC cell line HCT116. Microarray expression profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs was undertaken in parental HCT116 and 5-FU-based CRR cell lines. Results: In total, 2,662 differentially expressed lncRNAs and 2,398 mRNAs were identified in 5-FU-based CRR HCT116 cells when compared with those in parental HCT116. Moreover, 6 lncRNAs and 6 mRNAs found to be differentially expressed were validated by quantitative real time PCR (qRT-PCR). Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis for the differentially expressed mRNAs indicated involvement of many, such as Jak-STAT, PI3K-Akt and NF-kappa B signaling pathways. To better understand the molecular basis of 5-FU-based CRR in CRC cells, correlated expression networks were constructed based on 8 intergenic lncRNAs and their nearby coding genes. Conclusions: Changes in lncRNA expression are involved in 5-FU-based CRR in CRC cells. These findings may provide novel insight for the prognosis and prediction of response to therapy in CRC patients.

HMM and HSS Based Social Behavior of Intelligent Vehicles for Freeway Entrance Ramp

        Guangming Xiong,Yong Li,Shiyuan Wang,Xiaoyun Li,Peng Liu 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Control and Automation Vol.7 No.10

In this paper, a novel approach of intelligent vehicle to interact and cooperate with other human driving vehicles is proposed at the freeway entrance ramp scenario. The system consists of a Safety Alert Module and Vehicle Control Module. The Safety Alert System module includes intention estimation and conflict judgment. A two dimension Hidden Markov Model (2DHMM) is used to estimate social vehicle’s driving intention in the intention estimation module. Then the conflict judgment module predicts the potential conflicts between the intelligent vehicle and social vehicle. Moreover, the hybrid state system (HSS) is introduced to control the intelligent vehicle while considering its decision making, states and dynamics. Co-simulation using PreScan and Simulink is conducted. The experiment results show that the intelligent vehicle performs well with a commendable social behavior in the freeway entrance ramp.

Analysis of Bacterial Diversity and Communities Associated with Tricholoma matsutake Fruiting Bodies by Barcoded Pyrosequencing in Sichuan Province, Southwest China

( Qiang Li ),( Xiao Lin Li ),( Cheng Chen ),( Shu Hong Li ),( Wen Li Huang ),( Chuan Xiong ),( Xing Jin ),( Lin Yong Zheng ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2016 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.26 No.1

Endophytes play an important role in the growth and development of the host. However, the study of endophytes is mostly focused on plants, and reports on bacteria associated with fungi are relatively rare. We studied the bacteria associated with fruiting bodies of Tricholoma matsutake picked from seven main T. matsutake-producing areas in Sichuan, China, by barcoded pyrosequencing. About 8,272 reads were obtained per sample, representing 40 phyla, 103 classes, and 495 genera of bacteria and archaea, and 361.797 operational taxonomic units were observed at a 97% similarity level. The bacterial community was always both more abundant and more diverse than the archaeal community. UniFrac analysis showed there were some difference of bacterial communities among the samples sites. Three bacterial phyla, Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes, were dominant in all samples. Correlation analysis showed there was a significant correlation between some soil properties and bacterial community associated with T. matsutake. This study demonstrated that the bacteria associated with T. matsutake fruiting bodies were diversified. Among these bacteria, we may find some strains that can promote the growth of T. matsutake.

        Xiao-Long Li,Jia-Xin Li,Song-Yuan Yu,Pei-Li Fan,Yun-Jie Jin,Er-Jiao Xu,Sai-Nan Guan,Er-Ya Deng,Qiu-Yan Li,Zheng-Biao Ji,Jiu-Ling Qi,Hui-Xiong Xu,China Alliance of Multi-Center Clinical Study for Ultra 대한초음파의학회 2024 ULTRASONOGRAPHY Vol.43 No.1

Purpose: This study evaluated the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in the ultrasound-guided microwave ablation (MWA) treatment of symptomatic focal uterine adenomyosis. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between March 2020 and January 2023, enrolling 52 patients with symptomatic focal uterine adenomyosis who had undergone MWA. All patients were examined with CEUS before and after MWA. The non-perfused volume (NPV) was compared between CEUS and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCEMRI) following ablation. Therapeutic efficacy and safety were evaluated at 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-ups. Additionally, this study explored the correlations between pre-treatment CEUS features and a volume reduction ratio indicating sufficient ablation, defined as 50% or more at the 3-month follow-up.Results: No significant differences in NPV were noted between CEUS and DCE-MRI immediately after MWA and during follow-up (all P>0.05). At the 3-month follow-up, the median VRRs for the uterus and adenomyosis were 33.2% and 63.9%, respectively. Sufficient ablation was achieved in 69.2% (36/52) of adenomyosis cases, while partial ablation was observed in the remaining 30.8% (16/52). The identification of non-enhancing areas on pre-treatment CEUS was associated with sufficient ablation (P=0.016). At the 12-month follow-up, significant decreases were observed in both the uterine and adenomyosis volumes (all P<0.001). Dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia were significantly alleviated at 12 months, and no major complications were encountered. Conclusion: CEUS can be used to evaluate the ablation zone of focal adenomyosis that has been treated with MWA, similarly to DCE-MRI. The identification of non-enhancing areas on pretreatment CEUS indicates satisfactory treatment outcomes. Development of an Automatic Blood Pressure

Xiong Li,임재중 한국인터넷방송통신학회 2019 Journal of Advanced Smart Convergence Vol.8 No.2

In this study, we develop a Korotkoff sound based automatic blood pressure measurement device including sensor, hardware, and analysis algorithm. PVDF-based sensor pattern was developed to function as a vibration sensor to detect of Korotkoff sounds, and the film’s output was connected to an impedance-matching circuit. An algorithm for determining starting and ending points of the Korotkoff sounds was established, and clinical data from subjects were acquired and analyzed to find the relationship between the values obtained by the auscultatory method and from the developed device. The results from 86 out of 90 systolic measurements and 84 out of 90 diastolic measurements indicate that the developed device pass the validation criteria of the international protocol. Correlation coefficients for the values obtained by the auscultatory method and from the developed device were 0.982 and 0.980 for systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respectively. Blood pressure measurements based on Korotkoff sound signals obtained by using the developed PVDF film-based sensor module are accurate and highly correlated with measurements obtained by the traditional auscultatory method.

      • Expression of Glypican-3 is Highly Associated with Pediatric Hepatoblastoma: a Systemic Analysis

        Xiong, Xiao-Li,Qin, Huan,Yan, Su-Qi,Zhou, Li-Shan,Chen, Peng,Zhao, Dong-Chi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.3

Objective: Glypican-3 (GPC3) is reported to be an oncofetal protein that is a useful diagnostic immunomarker for hepatoblastoma. However, the results are not inclusive. This study systemically investigated the association between expression of GPC3 and pediatric hepatoblastoma. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the association were identified using a predefined search strategy. GPC3 immunohistochemistry was applied in the pathological diagnosis of hepatoblastoma using the monoclonal antibodies with formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded specimens. Positive predictive rates for the association between expression of GPC3 and pediatric hepatoblastoma were calculated. Results: Specimens from four clinical studies which including 134 patients with pediatric hepatoblastoma tested by GPC3 immunohistochemistry were considered eligible for inclusion. Systemic analysis showed that, in all patients, pooled positive predictive rate of the association between expression of GPC3 and pediatric hepatoblastoma was 95.5% (128/134). Conclusion: This systemic analysis suggests that the expression of glypican-3 is highly associated with the diagnosis of pediatric hepatoblastoma.

      • Clinicopathologic Characteristics and Prognoses for Multicentric Occurrence and Intrahepatic Metastasis in Synchronous Multinodular Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients

        Li, Shi-Lai,Su, Ming,Peng, Tao,Xiao, Kai-Yin,Shang, Li-Ming,Xu, Bang-Hao,Su, Zhi-Xiong,Ye, Xin-Ping,Peng, Ning,Qin, Quan-Lin,Chen, De-Feng,Chen, Jie,Li, Le-Qun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide, and the outcomes for patients are still poor. It is important to determine the original type of synchronous multinodular HCC for preoperative assessment and the choice of treatment therapy as well as for the prediction of prognosis after treatment. Aims: To analyze clinicopathologic characteristics and prognoses in patients with multicentric occurrence (MO) and intrahepatic metastasis (IM) of synchronous multinodular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: The study group comprised 42 multinodular HCC patients with a total of 112 nodules. The control group comprised 20 HCC patients with 16 single nodular HCC cases and 4 HCC cases with a portal vein tumor emboli. The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) D-loop region was sequenced, and the patients of the study group were categorized as MO or IM based on the sequence variations. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to determine the important clinicopathologic characteristics in the two groups. Results: In the study group, 20 cases were categorized as MO, and 22 as IM, whereas all 20 cases in the control group were characterized as IM. Several factors significantly differed between the IM and MO patients, including hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg), cumulative tumor size, tumor nodule location, cirrhosis, portal vein and/or microvascular tumor embolus and the histological grade of the primary nodule. Multivariate analysis further demonstrated that cirrhosis and portal vein and/or microvascular tumor thrombus were independent factors differentiating between IM and MO patients. The tumor-free survival time of the MO subjects was significantly longer than that of the IM subjects ($25.7{\pm}4.8$ months vs. $8.9{\pm}3.1$ months, p=0.017). Similarly, the overall survival time of the MO subjects was longer ($31.6{\pm}5.3$ months vs. $15.4{\pm}3.4$ months, p=0.024). The multivariate analysis further demonstrated that the original type (p=0.035) and Child-Pugh grade (p<0.001) were independent predictors of tumor-free survival time. Cirrhosis (p=0.011), original type (p=0.034) and Child-Pugh grade (p<0.001) were independent predictors of overall survival time. Conclusions: HBeAg, cumulative tumor size, tumor nodule location, cirrhosis, portal vein and/or microvascular tumor embolus and histological grade of the primary nodule are important factors for differentiating IM and MO. MO HCC patients might have a favorable outcome compared with IM patients.
