Novel reduced-order modeling method combined with three-particle nonlinear transform unscented Kalman filtering for the battery state-of-charge estimation

Xu, Wenhua,Wang, Shunli,Fernandez, Carlos,Yu, Chunmei,Fan, Yongcun,Cao, Wen The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2020 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.20 No.6

Accurate estimation of the lithium-ion battery state of charge plays an important role in the real-time monitoring and safety control of batteries. In order to solve the problems that the real-time estimation of the lithium-ion battery is difficult and the estimation accuracy is not high under various working conditions, a lithium-ion battery is taken as a research object, and the working characteristics of the lithium-ion battery are studied under various working conditions. In order to reduce the computational complexity of the traditional unscented Kalman algorithm, an improved unscented Kalman algorithm is proposed. Considering the importance of accurately estimating the initial state of charge for later estimation, the initial estimation value is calibrated by using the open-circuit voltage method. Then, the improved unscented Kalman filter algorithm based on a reduced-order model is used for assessing and tracking to realize real-time high-precision estimation of the state of charge of the lithium-ion battery. A simulation model is built and combined with a variety of working conditions data for performance analysis. The experimental results show that the convergence speed and tracking effect are good and that the estimation error control is within 0.8%. It is verified that the reduced order of the three-particle nonlinear transform unscented Kalman results in higher accuracy in the state-of-charge estimation of lithium-ion batteries.

CNN-based Skip-Gram Method for Improving Classification Accuracy of Chinese Text

( Wenhua Xu ),( Hao Huang ),( Jie Zhang ),( Hao Gu ),( Jie Yang ),( Guan Gui ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.12

Text classification is one of the fundamental techniques in natural language processing. Numerous studies are based on text classification, such as news subject classification, question answering system classification, and movie review classification. Traditional text classification methods are used to extract features and then classify them. However, traditional methods are too complex to operate, and their accuracy is not sufficiently high. Recently, convolutional neural network (CNN) based one-hot method has been proposed in text classification to solve this problem. In this paper, we propose an improved method using CNN based skip-gram method for Chinese text classification and it conducts in Sogou news corpus. Experimental results indicate that CNN with the skip-gram model performs more efficiently than CNN-based one-hot method.

Flavonoids extracted from Linaria vulgaris protect against hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis induced by western-type diet in mice

        Wenhua Kuang,Xu Zhang,Zhou Lan 대한약학회 2018 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.41 No.12

Previous studies have shown that flavonoids (Fs) present in Linaria vulgaris inhibit lipid accumulation in vitro. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of Fs extracted from Linaria vulgaris ssp. sinensis (Bebeaux) Hong, on hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis induced by a western-type diet in mice. The major constituents of Fs were analyzed by LC–MS analysis. C57BL/6 mice were fed a western-type diet for 8 weeks to induce hyperlipidemia (model group), or fed a western-type diet followed by Fs treatment (90, 30 or 10 mg/kg/day) or atorvastatin treatment (1.0 mg/kg/day), for 8 weeks. It was found that Fs treatment resulted in significant reductions in serum levels of AST, ALT, TC, TG, LDL-C, free fatty acid and hepatic TC, and TG compared to those in model mice with hyperlipidemia (P < 0.05). The mice treated with Fs showed a relatively normal hepatic architecture compared to the hepatic steatosis shown in the model group. Moreover, the expressions of mature forms of sterol regulatory element–binding proteins (nuclear form of srebps, n-SREBPs) and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme reductase (HMGCR) involved in lipid metabolism, were suppressed in the Fs-treated groups. Taken together, these results suggest Fs exert protective effects against hyperlipidemia and hepatic steatosis, which may involve the inhibition of mature SREBPs expressions.

Influence of Initial Damage Degree on the Degradation of Concrete Under Sulfate Attack and Wetting–Drying Cycles

        Yujing Lv,Wenhua Zhang,Fan Wu,Huang Li,Yunsheng Zhang,Guodong Xu 한국콘크리트학회 2020 International Journal of Concrete Structures and M Vol.14 No.5

The previous researches on the degradation process of concrete under sulfate attack mainly focus on non-damaged concrete. It may lead to an excessive evaluation of the durability of the structure, which is detrimental to the safety of the structure. In this paper, three different damage degrees of concrete specimens with non-damaged (D0) and initial damage of 10% (D₁) and 20% (D₂) were prefabricated and subjected to sulfate attack and wetting–drying cycles. With the increase of sulfate attack cycles (0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 cycles), the changes in mass loss, relative dynamic modulus of elasticity, and the stress–strain curve were studied. The results show that the mass of the D0 specimen had been increasing continuously before 150 sulfate attack cycles. The mass of D₁ and D₂ had been increasing before 60 cycles, and decreasing after 60 cycles. At 150 cycles, the mass loss of D0, D₁, D₂ were − 1.054%, 0.29% and 3.20%, respectively. The relative dynamic modulus of elasticity (RDME) of D0 specimen increases continuously before 90 sulfate attack cycles. After 90 cycles, the RDME gradually decreases. However, for D₁ and D₂ specimens, the RDME began to decrease after 30 cycles. The damage degree has an obvious influence on the compressive strength and elastic modulus. For the D0 specimen, the compressive strength and elastic modulus increased continuously before 90 cycles and decreased after 90 cycles. The compressive strength and elastic modulus of D₁ and D₂ specimens began to decrease after 30 cycles. The stress–strain curves of concrete with different initial damage degrees were established, and the fitting results were good. Finally, based on the analysis of experimental data, the degradation mechanism of concrete with initial damage under the sulfate wetting–drying cycle was discussed.

Curcumin Alleviates the Side Effects of Cisplatin on Gastric Emptying of Mice by Inhibiting the Signal Changes of Acetylcholine and Interstitial Cells of Cajal

        Hui Li,Wenhua Xu,Xuying Liu,Junli Ye,Peijie Li,Fangfang Shang,Xiaoling Yu 한국식품영양과학회 2020 Journal of medicinal food Vol.23 No.9

Cisplatin is a widely used anticancer drug that has adverse effects on gastrointestinal function. Curcumin is a natural polyphenol extracted from the rhizome of turmeric that has a wide range of biological activities. The present study investigated the effects of cisplatin on gastric emptying in mice and examined whether these can be inhibited by curcumin. We found that pretreatment with curcumin (200 mg/kg/day) for 10–30 days partly inhibited the decreases in gastric emptying rate and body weight induced by cisplatin. Furthermore, cisplatin reduced acetylcholine (ACh) concentration and the messenger RNA (mRNA) level of ACh receptor (AChR) as well as acetylcholinesterase activity in the stomach of mice; caused ultrastructural damage to interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC); and altered the expression of c-kit/stem cell factor and the gap junction protein connexin 43 in ICC. Curcumin pretreatment inhibited the effects of cisplatin on ACh indicators and ICC. These results demonstrate that curcumin can protect against cisplatin-induced gastric emptying disorder and thus has therapeutic potential for alleviating this condition in cancer patients receiving cisplatin chemotherapy.

A New Method for Determination of 3D Active Earth Pressure of Unsaturated Backfills

        Long Wang,Meijuan Xu,Jie Li,Wenhua Liu,De’an Sun 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.12

Determinations of active earth pressures are commonly performed two-dimensionally (2D) based on completely saturated and/or dry assumptions, though the soil in cases of geotechnical interest is mostly unsaturated and the earth pressures are usually of conspicuous three-dimensional (3D) features. In this paper, a novel finite prismoid element method (FPEM) for calculating the lateral earth pressures acting against the retaining wall is suggested. The main feature of the FPEM is that the whole backfill is discretized into numerous horizontally distributed prismoid elements that might characterized with different soil properties. For unsaturated backfills, the prismoid elements are characterized with various soil cohesions and unit soil weights. Upper bound solutions to active earth pressures under 2D and 3D conditions with and without suction are both calculated and compared with several other analytical ones, indicating the reliability and applicability of the proposed method. The responses of unsaturated backfills to surcharge loads on the crest are numerically studied and discussed. An illustrative example is reexamined to further demonstrate the practical use of the technique.

        PANPAN GUO,FAQIANG XU,Wenhua Zhang,LINGYUN LIU,KAI WANG,YUYAN HAN 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2014 NANO Vol.9 No.6

3,4,9,10-perylene-tetracarboxylic-dianhydride (PTCDA) nanostructures with di®erent mor-phologies are prepared on glass substrates at di®erent substrate temperature ( T s Þ in a molecularbeam epitaxy (MBE) system. Scanning/transmission/scanning transmission electron microscopy(SEM/TEM/STEM), X-ray di®raction (XRD), selected area electron di®raction (SAED) andnanobeam di®raction (NBD) techniques are employed in the systematical characterizations of thenanostructures. It is found that the PTCDA nanosheets (NSs), nanowires and nanorods are facileto produce at T s ¼ 350?C, 330?C and 240?C, respectively; the continuous ¯lms are obtained at180?C and 50?C. XRD studies indicate that only the ? -phase polymorph is formed regardless ofthe T s. SAED and NBD results show that the nanowire and NS are single crystalline. The opticalproperties of the prepared PTCDA nanostructures are also found to be in°uenced by T s and arecorrelated with the crystal quality and size. PTCDA nanowires and NSs exhibit an obviousredshift and broadening in the adsorption spectra, and enhanced emission intensity. Theimproved optical properties facilitate potential applications of these nanostructures in organicoptoelectronic devices.

Distinct evolution of toll‑like receptor signaling pathway genes in cetaceans

        Ran Tian,Inge Seim,Zepeng Zhang,Ying Yang,Wenhua Ren,Shixia Xu,Guang Yang 한국유전학회 2019 Genes & Genomics Vol.41 No.12

Background The relatively rapid spread and diversity of marine pathogens posed an initial and ongoing challenge for cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises), descendants of terrestrial mammals that transitioned from land to sea approximately 56 million years ago. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play important roles in regulating immunity against pathogen infections by detecting specific molecular patterns and activating a wide range of downstream signaling pathways. The ever-increasing catalogue of mammalian genomes offers unprecedented opportunities to reveal genetic changes associated with evolutionary and ecological processes. Objective This study aimed to explore the molecular evolution of TLR signaling pathway genes in cetaceans. Methods Genes involved in the TLR signaling pathway were retrieved by BLAST searches using human coding sequences as queries. We tested each gene for positive selection along the cetacean branches using PAML and Hyphy. Physicochemical property changes of amino acids at all positively selected residues were assessed by TreeSAAP and visualized with WebLogo. Bovine and dolphin TLR4 was assessed using human embryonic kidney cell line HEK293, which lacks TLR4 and its co-receptor MD-2. Results We demonstrate that eight TLR signaling pathway genes are under positive selection in cetaceans. These include key genes in the response to Gram-negative bacteria: TLR4, CD14, and LY96 (MD-2). Moreover, 41 out of 65 positively selected sites were inferred to harbor substitution that dramatically changes the physicochemical properties of amino acids, with most of them situated in or adjacent to functional regions. We also found strong evidence that positive selection occurred in the lineage of the Yangtze finless porpoise, likely reflecting relatively recent adaptions to a freshwater milieu. Species-specific differences in TLR4 response were observed between cetacean and terrestrial species. Cetacean TLR4 was significantly less responsive to lipopolysaccharides from a terrestrial E. coli strain, possibly a reflection of the arms race of host–pathogen co-evolution faced by cetaceans in an aquatic environment. Conclusion This study provides further impetus for studies on the evolution and function of the cetacean immune system.
