A Case of Familial Comedonal Darier’s Disease

Darier’s disease is a genetic disorder of keratinization with autosomal dominant inheritance. Its appearance is usually in the form of greasy, crusted, keratotic yellow-brown papules and plaques found particularly on seborrheic areas of the body. However, there are some clinical variants showing atypical skin lesions. Here we report an unusual case of Darier’s disease, which mainly showed prominent comedonal papules over the face. Extramammary Paget`s disease (EMPD) is an uncommon intraepithelial adenocarcinoma, primarily affecting the apocrine-bearing skin. Bowen disease is an intraepithelial squamous cell carcinoma having the potential to become invasive carcinoma. The histopathological concomitant features between EMPD and Bowen disease have been described. One theory is that primary EMPD arises multicentrically, within the epidermis from the pluripotent stem cells. Herein, we describe a case of EMPD that had bowenoid features, and review the previous cases associated with the origin of EMPD. (Ann Dermatol 25(1) 88∼91, 2013

The adequate dietary intake is important to maintain the nutritional status of the patients after pancreatic cancer surgery. This prospective study was designed to investigate the dietary intake and the nutritional status of the patients who had pancreatic cancer surgery. Thirty-one patients (15 men, 16 women) were enrolled and measured body weight, body mass index (BMI), nutritional risk index (NRI), and Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST). Actual oral intake with nutritional impact symptoms recorded on the clinical research foam at every meal and medical information were collected from electronic medical charts. The rates of malnutrition at admission were 45.1% (14/31) and 28.9% (9/31) by NRI and MUST method, respectively, but those were increased to 87% (27/31) and 86.6% (26/31) after operation on discharge. The median values of daily intake of energy, carbohydrates, fat, and protein were 588.1 kcal, 96.0 g, 11.8 g, and 27.0 g, respectively. Most patients (n = 20, 64.5%) experienced two or more symptoms such as anorexia, abdominal bloating and early satiety. There were negative correlations between C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and the intake of total energy, protein, fat, and zinc. The rates of malnutrition were increased sharply after surgery and the dietary intake also influenced the inflammatory indicators. The results suggested that need of considering special therapeutic diets for the patients who received pancreatic surgery.

본 연구에서는 고염/고방사성 폐액 내 함유된 주요 고방사성핵종인 Cs 제거를 목적으 로 고효율의 복합 흡착제(potassium cobalt ferrocyanide (PCFC)-loaded chabazite (CHA)) 합성 및 이의 적용성을 평가하 였다. 복합 흡착제는 Cs을 비롯한 다 른 입자를 수용할 수 있는 CHA를 지지체로 선정하였으며, CoCl2 및 K4Fe(CN)6 용액 의 단계적인 함침/침전을 통해 PCFC를 CHA 세공 내에 고정화함으로써 합성하였다. 복합 흡착제의 합성 시 평균 입자크기가 10 ㎛ 이상의 CHA를 지지체로 사용할 경우, PCFC 입자는 안정적인 형태로 고정화되었다. 또한, 합성 시 복합 흡착제의 정 제를 증가시키는 세척 방법을 최적화함 으로써, 복합 흡착제의 물리적 안정성이 향상되었다. 최적의 합성법을 통해 얻은 복합 흡착제에 의한 Cs 흡착 시, 담수(무염 조건) 및 해수(고염 조건)에서 모두 빠른 흡착 속도를 보였으며, 염 농도와 무관하게 비교적 높은 분배계수 값(104 mL·g-1 이상)을 나타내었다. 그러므로, 본 연구에서 합성한 복합 흡착제는 CHA 및 PCFC가 각각 가지고 있는 물리적 안정성과 Cs 에 높은 선택성 등을 고려하여 촤적화한 소재이며, 고염/고방사성폐액에 함유되어 있 는 Cs을 고효율로 신속하게 제거할 수 있음을 알 수 있다. For the removal of cesium (Cs) from high radioactive/high salt-laden liquid waste, this study synthesized a highly efficient composite adsorbent (potassium cobalt ferrocyanide (PCFC)-loaded chabazite (CHA)) and evaluated its applicability. The composite adsorbent used CHA, which could accommodate Cs as well as other molecules, as a supporting material and was synthesized by immobilizing the PCFC in the pores of CHA through stepwise impregnation/precipitation with CoCl2 and K4Fe (CN)6 solutions. When CHA, with average particle size of more than 10 ㎛, is used in synthesizing the composite adsorbent, the PCFC particles were immobilized in a stable form. Also, the physical stability of the composite adsorbent was improved by optimizing the washing methodology to increase the purity of the composite adsorbent during the synthesis. The composite adsorbent obtained from the optimal synthesis showed a high adsorption rate of Cs in both fresh water (salt-free condition) and seawater (high-salt condition), and had a relatively high value of distribution coefficient (larger than 104 mL·g-1) regardless of the salt concentration. Therefore, the composite adsorbent synthesized in this study is an optimized material considering both the high selectivity of PCFC on Cs and the physical stability of CHA. It is proved that this composite adsorbent can remove rapidly Cs contained in high radioactive/high salt-laden liquid waste with high efficiency.

In this paper, we present a sensor based path planning method using fuzzy logic for obstacle avoidance of an intelligent vehicle in unknown environments. Generally, Robot navigation in unknown terrains is a very complex task difficult to control because of the great amount of imprecise and ambiguous sensor information that has to be considered. In this case, fuzzy logic can satisfactorily deal with such information in quite efficient manner. In this study, we propose two fuzzy logic controller which is composed of steering controller and velocity controller respectively. Our objective is to develop a fuzzy controller that can enable a mobile robot to navigate from a start point to a goal point without collisions, in the least possible travel time. The ability and effectiveness for the proposed algorithm will be demonstrated by computer simulation.

Hydrogen embrittlement (HE) is a significant issue in high-strength offshore steel. Mo is added for high strength, and severalstudies on the HE resistance by Mo solutes and Mo segregation have been reported. However, the effect of Mo addition onHE in bainitic steels has not been studied yet. This study investigated the effect of increasing Mo content (up to 0.2 wt%) onHE resistance in terms of crack initiation and hydrogen diffusion behaviors in bainitic steels. With the addition of Mo, thestrength of 0.2 Mo steel increased, but it’s HE resistance was nearly identical to that of 0.02 Mo steel. As the Mo contentincreased, the martensite-austenite (MA) constituents sensitive to HE increased; however, the Mo solutes, which serve astrap sites for hydrogen, also increased. The delay in hydrogen diffusion by the Mo solutes played a role in alleviating thedegradation in the HE resistance of the MA constituents of 0.2 Mo steel.

The digital therapeutics market is predicted to grow rapidly due to several factors such as changes in the medical paradigm and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has approved two digital therapeutics in 2023. The Korean government is announcing many deregulation policies to revitalize the healthcare industry. However, specific governance, such as medical device industry policy and health insurance, is still needed. In addition, the government’s continuous support for the healthcare industry in Korea is necessary. Accordingly, we investigated regulatory trends pertaining to digital therapeutics in other countries. Through this study, implications for insurance design suitable for the attributes of digital therapeutics and raising awareness of such therapeutics were derived.
