Cognitive Analysis of Pedestrians Walking While Using a Mobile Phone
( Ilker Erkan ) 서울대학교 인지과학연구소 2017 Journal of Cognitive Science Vol.18 No.3
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of EEG signals on different cognitive tasks of the pedestrians. The author developed new software for simulation, called Pedestrian 3D virtual simulator which considered in detail the decision-making cognitive tasks of pedestrians, with simultaneous measurement of the EEG signals. Two walking sessions were designed: one receiving the SMS while walking, the other involved replying SMS while walking. Fifty subjects participated in the study. Based on the Singular Value Decomposition algorithm the EEG was considered to analyze of features. The results of this study show that It was determined that the right frontal lobes were active in distractions when pedestrians while walking. EEG changes during the tasks were seen in alpha 1 and alpha 2 bands substantial changes were observed in F1, FZ, F2 channels. The use of mobile phones (especially replying SMS) while walking negatively affected the perception of pedestrians, putting them at a risk for accidents, suggesting the need for interventions to decrease the use of mobile phones while walking. One of the most important results of the study is that an ongoing response is recorded in the middle of the prefrontal cortex in those who are careless walking.

Objective: Prospective data of risky online gamers in Turkey is missing. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the change in gaming behaviors and addiction rates of Travian players within two years to search diagnostic stability of internet gaming disorder and some psychosocial risk factors. Methods: 110 responders completed the whole questionnaire package including 21-item Game Addiction Scale (GAS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SLS), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and Multi-dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). A hierarchical linear modeling approach was followed to test the linear change in game addiction scores of the participants from 2013 to 2015. Results: GAS scores of gamers significantly decreased within two years (p=0.026). MSPSS scores significantly and negatively associated with GAS scores (p<0.001) and the negative association of time remained significant (p=0.035). Decrement in the MSPSS scores in two years was associated with increment in GAS scores. 9 (90%) of 10 participants with internet gaming disorder according to monothetic format and 26 (52%) of 50 participants with internet gaming disorder according to polythetic format were found to not to meet the diagnosis in the follow-up. 33 out of all participants reported that they were not playing any online games for at least last 6 months. Conclusion: Social support seems to be a protective factor for game addiction and diagnosis of internet gaming disorder has low temporal stability among Travian players in Turkey.
Ammonia and Carbon Dioxide Concentrations in a Layer House
Kilic, Ilker,Yaslioglu, Erkan Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2014 Animal Bioscience Vol.27 No.8
Higher concentrations of ammonia ($NH_3$) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) in animal barns can negatively affect production and health of animals and workers. This paper focuses on measurements of summer concentrations of ammonia ($NH_3$) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) in a naturally ventilated laying henhouse located at an egg production facility in Bursa region, western Turkey. Also, indoor and ambient environmental conditions such as temperature and relative humidity were measured simultaneously with pollutant gas concentrations. The average $NH_3$ concentrations during summer of 2013 was 8.05 ppm for exhaust and 5.42 ppm for inlet while average $CO_2$ concentration was 732 ppm for exhaust and 625 ppm for inlet throughout summer. The overall minimum, average and maximum values and humidity were obtained as $16.8^{\circ}C$, $24.72^{\circ}C$, and $34.71^{\circ}C$ for indoor temperature and 33.64%, 63.71%, and 86.18% for relative humidity. The lowest exhaust concentrations for $NH_3$ and $CO_2$ were 6.98 ppm and 609 ppm, respectively. They were measured in early morning at the maximum diurnal ventilation rate in July 2013 and August 2013. The highest concentrations were 10.58 ppm for $NH_3$ and 904 ppm for $CO_2$ recorded in the afternoon when the ventilation rate was the lowest in June 2013.

Objective: To determine factors influencing overall survival following recurrence (OSFR) inwomen with low-risk endometrial cancer (EC) treated with surgery alone. Methods: A multicenter, retrospective department database review was performed to identifypatients with recurrent “low-risk EC” (patients having less than 50% myometrial invasion[MMI] with grade 1 or 2 endometrioid EC) at 10 gynecologic oncology centers in Turkey. Demographic, clinicopathological, and survival data were collected. Results: We identified 67 patients who developed recurrence of their EC after initially beingdiagnosed and treated for low-risk EC. For the entire study cohort, the median time torecurrence (TTR) was 23 months (95% confidence interval [CI]=11.5–34.5; standard error[SE]=5.8) and the median OSFR was 59 months (95% CI=12.7–105.2; SE=23.5). We observed32 (47.8%) isolated vaginal recurrences, 6 (9%) nodal failures, 19 (28.4%) peritoneal failures, and 10 (14.9%) hematogenous disseminations. Overall, 45 relapses (67.2%) were locoregionalwhereas 22 (32.8%) were extrapelvic. According to the Gynecologic Oncology Group(GOG) Trial-99, 7 (10.4%) out of 67 women with recurrent low-risk EC were qualified as highintermediaterisk (HIR). The 5-year OSFR rate was significantly higher for patients with TTR≥36 months compared to those with TTR <36 months (74.3% compared to 33%, p=0.001). On multivariate analysis for OSFR, TTR <36 months (hazard ratio [HR]=8.46; 95% CI=1.65–43.36; p=0.010) and presence of HIR criteria (HR=4.62; 95% CI=1.69–12.58; p=0.003) weresignificant predictors. Conclusion: Low-risk EC patients recurring earlier than 36 months and those carrying HIRcriteria seem more likely to succumb to their tumors after recurrence.
