        Genetic associations of body composition, flexibility and injury risk with ACE, ACTN3and COL5A1polymorphisms in Korean ballerinas

JENB., Vol. 18, No. 2, pp.205-214, 2014[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to exam the association of body composition, flexibility, and injury risk to genetic polymorphismsincluding ACEID, ACTN3RX, and COL5A1polymorphisms in ballet dancers in Korea. [Methods]For the purpose of this study,elite ballerinas (n = 97) and normal female adults (n = 203) aged 18 to 39 were recruited and these participants were tested forbody weight, height, body fat, fat free mass, flexibility, injury risks on the joints and gene polymorphisms (ACE, ACTN3, COL5A1polymorphism). [Results]As results, the ACEDD genotype in ballerinas was associated with higher body fat and percentageof body fat than the ACEII and ID genotypes (p< 0.05). In the study on the ACTN3polymorphism and ballerinas, the XXgenotype in ballerinas had lower body weight and lower fat-free mass than the RR and RX genotype (p < 0.005). Also, the meansof sit and reach test for flexibility was lower in the ACTN3XX genotype of ballerinas than the RR and RX genotype of ballerinas(p< 0.05). Among the sports injuries, the ankle injury of the XX-genotyped ballerinas was in significantly more prevalence thanthe RR and XX-genotyped ballerinas (p< 0.05). According to the odd ratio analysis, XX-genotyped ballerinas have the injuryrisk on the ankle about 4.7 (95% CI: 1.6~13.4, p< 0.05) times more than the RR and RX-genotyped ballerinas. Meanwhile, theCOL5A1polymorphism in ballerinas has no association with any factors including flexibility and injury risks. [Conclusion]Inconclusion, ACEpolymorphism and ACTN3polymorphism were associated with ballerinas` performance capacity; COL5A1wasnot associated with any factors of performance of Ballerinas. The results suggested that the ACEDD genotype is associated withhigh body fat, the ACTN3XX genotype is associated with low fat-free mass, low flexibility, and higher risk of ankle-joint injury.         Bone Age Assessment Using Artificial Intelligence in Korean Pediatric Population: A Comparison of Deep-Learning Models Trained With Healthy Chronological and Greulich-Pyle Ages as Labels

        Objective: To develop a deep-learning-based bone age prediction model optimized for Korean children and adolescents and evaluate its feasibility by comparing it with a Greulich-Pyle-based deep-learning model. Materials and Methods: A convolutional neural network was trained to predict age according to the bone development shown on a hand radiograph (bone age) using 21036 hand radiographs of Korean children and adolescents without known bone development-affecting diseases/conditions obtained between 1998 and 2019 (median age [interquartile range {IQR}], 9 [7–12] years; male:female, 11794:9242) and their chronological ages as labels (Korean model). We constructed 2 separate external datasets consisting of Korean children and adolescents with healthy bone development (Institution 1: n = 343; median age [IQR], 10 [4–15] years; male: female, 183:160; Institution 2: n = 321; median age [IQR], 9 [5–14] years; male: female, 164:157) to test the model performance. The mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), and proportions of bone age predictions within 6, 12, 18, and 24 months of the reference age (chronological age) were compared between the Korean model and a commercial model (VUNO Med-BoneAge version 1.1; VUNO) trained with Greulich-Pyle-based age as the label (GP-based model). Results: Compared with the GP-based model, the Korean model showed a lower RMSE (11.2 vs. 13.8 months; P = 0.004) and MAE (8.2 vs. 10.5 months; P = 0.002), a higher proportion of bone age predictions within 18 months of chronological age (88.3% vs. 82.2%; P = 0.031) for Institution 1, and a lower MAE (9.5 vs. 11.0 months; P = 0.022) and higher proportion of bone age predictions within 6 months (44.5% vs. 36.4%; P = 0.044) for Institution 2. Conclusion: The Korean model trained using the chronological ages of Korean children and adolescents without known bone development-affecting diseases/conditions as labels performed better in bone age assessment than the GP-based model in the Korean pediatric population. Further validation is required to confirm its accuracy.

        This study confirmed that dance instructors`` emotional leadership doesn‘t directly affect on dance sustained participation intention, but affects positively on passion and burnout. Thus, those students highly acknowledging dance instructor``s emotional leadership level of performance brings more passion to the lecture with less burnout. therefore, positive effect on dance sustained participation intention was verified. This result explained that students would be more attracted to dance lecture with continuous interest when the dance instructor brings leadership that can resolve issues and touches students`` emotions by catching students`` thoughts or suggestions.

        흡착제를 이용한 매립지가스 내 CO₂ 분리 특성

        The purpose of this study is to investigate selective adsorption of CO₂ from LFG (Landfill gas) by using commercialized NaX-type zeolite adsorbent under the ambient temperature and pressure. The experiment of CO₂ adsorption was carried out by using simulated LFG. The CO₂ adsorption capacity and separation efficiency of NaX-type adsorbent were investigated by analyzing gas flow rate and gas composition at inlet and outlet of the adsorption reactor. The adsorbed CO₂ were desorbed under decompression condition which 0.5 Torr or by air purge. Through the result to use simulated LFG, when the method of VSA was used, 73.2~75.3 mg of CO₂ was adsorbed per 1 g commercial adsorbent, when the method of air purge was used, 78.4~83.2 mg of CO₂ was adsorbed per 1 g of commercial adsorbent.

        프로축구선수단의 동계체력훈련이 프로축구선수의 체력 특성에 미치는 영향

        이 연구는 국내 정상급의 일 프로축구단에서 매년 지속되어온 동계훈련 프로그램 전·후에 선수들의 체력을 평가함으로써 그 효과를 구명(究明)하고, 바람직한 훈련방법을 위한 기초 자료를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내 우수 프로축구단의 선수를 대상으로 동계훈련 전·후의 축구관련 체력특성을 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 기초체력의 검사 결과, 체력훈련 후 체후굴(유연성)과 배근력에서 향상되었고, 체전굴(유연성), 서전트 점프, 전신반응력에서는 변화가 없었다. 심폐지구력 결과, 체력훈련은 젖산역치와 젖산역치수준에서의 심박수에는 변화는 없었으나, 심폐지구력이 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 신체구성은 체력훈련 후에 체중의 변화는 없었으나, 지방량은 감소하고 제지방량(근육)은 향상하였다. 그러나 무산소파워 능력과 근력 및 근파워 능력 그리고 젖산역치에는 변화가 없었다. 이상의 결과, 신체구성과 최대산소섭취량에 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타난 현재의 훈련프로그램 외에, 근력 및 근파워와 무산소파워 능력을 증진하는 고강도 체력훈련프로그램이 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, 이와 같은 고강도 체력훈련프로그램을 함께 적용함으로써, 프로축구선수들의 체력과 경기력을 향상할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of preseason soccer training on performance-related physical fitness in professional soccer players. Twenty-six professional soccer players, aged 24±3.8yr, participated in the present study. The six-week physical training program were performed. Flexibility, Sargent jump, reaction time, maximal oxygen uptake, lactate threshold, the Wingate anearobic power, and isokinetic muscle strength were tested before and after physical training. There was a significant increase in maximal oxygen uptake from 58.2±9.7 to 67.3±9.1 mlO2/min/kg (P<.001) after training program. However, lactate threshold was not reached enough to effectively play high-level soccer, even though lactate threshold was increased from 40.8±6.4 to 48.7±6.2mlO2/min/kg (P<.001). In the change of body composition, body fat mass decreased from 10.0±2.8 to 8.1±2.1kg (P<.001) and body fat free mass was increased from 65.9±3.9 to 67.4±3.7kg (P<.001) with no change of body weight. There were no differences in anaerobic capacity, maximal muscle strength, muscle power, muscle endurance, reaction time, and agility. In conclusion, these results suggested that the present preseason soccer training was effective on endurance capacity and body composition, but not effective on muscle strength and anaerobic capacity. Therefore, there was needs on development of effective physical training program for muscle power and anaerobic capacity.

        Granular cell tumors involving the esophagus are rare tumors. Since Abrikossoff first reported five cases of granular tumor of the tongue in 1926, fewer than 200 cases of esophageal granular cell tumors have been reported in the world. The granular cell tumors usually were seen in tongue, skin & breast. it has rarely been noted in the esophagus. The treatment of this tumor was not established well. Therefore, we report a case of granular cell tumor of the low esophagus, which was resected by polypectomy following 'O'-band ligation. This 56-year-old male patient was transferred to our hospital because of abnormal endoscopic finding on the esophagus at local clinic. There was esophageal polypoid lesion on the low esophagus. After polypectomy, the lesion was revealed as granular cell tumor in histopathologic examination.

        The dance coincides with the human origin and history in that it creates its expression through the body movement, In this regard, the developmental stage of dance can be classified according to its period and history. Firstly, primitive society can be divided into as follows : ·the religious dance to be defined as the expression of thankfulness for God ·the combat dance to aim at backing up the courage and exalting the unity among a village people in the face of combat. ·the weapon dance to pray for the victory, holding a weapon at war ·the prayer dance to with for a abundant crop in the process of converting a primitive bunting a primitive hunting period into agricultural one. ·the magical dance to aim at curing patients' disease. ·sexual dance to lure the opposite sex. Secondly, the dance in an ancient age can be characterized by iris nobility, uniting a spiritual life based on a spiritual life based on a religious consciousness as well as an educational objective. Thirdly, on the threshold of medieval age, called a dark period, it was also difficult to avoid a dark shawdow over the field of dance. The reason dance was excluded or pressed from people in those days was they had the concept that human spirit and body should be seperated and the value and the value of human body was not appreciated as theology was in creasingly developed. Although the European dance in those days came to degenerate by the reason that a total ban on dance was enforced, the dance had a string to link a human spirit and a physical life, giving motivation to create a new style folk dance. The main cause the folk dance was created was attributed to the fact that common people's life in medieval age was very humble and miserable, so there was no choice other than taking folk dance with which many people were able to enjoy themselves in a drunken state, in an attempt to extricate themselves from their pain. Based on that trend aroud the 14th century, knights danced together with a view to enjoying themselves, which has become a court dance since it was introduced into a palace. Coming into the 16th century, all of culture in Europe had been refurbished, with dnace vividly developed. The place for performing the court dance came to be changed from a broad court hall to a state the first stage dance from which the ballet hart been created. The researcher investigated the entity and history of ballet - the process of balletic change - on the assumption like this : the reason dance was converted from enjoying themselves to showing it as an art was that it might be absolutely influenced by a period and social stream. Accordingly, this researcher has focused on investigating the balletic entity and its process of change. In conclusion it is pointed out that the ballet has been the ballet has been bound up with society. In an effort to make contribution to the development of korea's ballet which is at present on the decline, this researcher suggested several problems in light of a present social characteristics and its solvable method in view of a balletic history in korea.
