        사례보고 : 하수오 복용 후 발생한 재발성 독성 간염 1예

        Toxic hepatitis has been reported as a major cause of acute hepatitis, but its potential induction by herbal remedies and/or health foods is usually neglected. We experienced a case of toxic hepatitis associated with Polygoni multiflori, a Chinese herb commonly known as Ho-Shou-Wu. A 54-year-old woman consumed Ho-Shou-Wu for 1 month, after which she experienced fatigue and overall weakness. A diagnosis of toxic hepatitis was made based on her clinical history, the findings for viral markers and other laboratory data, and ultrasonography. Her condition improved considerably after she stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. However, she resumed taking Ho-Shou-Wu immediately after discharge from hospital, which aggravated her symptoms and liver function. She was immediately readmitted and stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. Her relapse into hepatitis immediate after resuming consumption of the herb is strongly indicative of the validity of Koch`s postulate in this case.

        수산화세륨(Ⅲ)으로부터 질산암모늄세륨(Ⅳ)의 제조

        본 연구에서는 수산화세륨으로부터 질산세륨 용액 제조 후 질산암모늄 첨가에 의한 질산암모늄세륨 제조시, 출발용액의 산도와 농도 그리고 질산암모늄 첨가량, 반응온도 및 반응시간이 질산암모늄세륨 합성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였으며, XRD, SEM 그리고 TGA 분석을 통하여 결정의 형태 및 구조에 대한 고찰을 수행하였다. 4가의 수산화세륨을 질산에 용해한 질산세륨(Ⅳ)수용액으로부터 질산암모늄 첨가에 의한 질산암모늄세륨 제조시 회수율을 고려한 최적 합성조건은 출발물질의 세륨 농도 70-100g/l, 출발용액의 산도 7 mol/l, 질산암모늄 첨가량 2.5당량, 감압·가열온도 65℃ 및 반응시간 15-30min.이었으며, 제조된 질산암모늄세륨의 결정 화학식은 (NH_4)_2[Ce(NO_3)_6) · ×H_2O(x=6-8)인 것을 알 수 있었다. Synthetic process of ammonium cerium nitrate from cerium hydroxide was presented and influences of concentration and acidity of starting solution, addition quantity of ammonium nitrate, reaction temperature, reaction time on the yield of ammonium cerium nitrate are discussed. The shape and composition of crystal were determined by SEM, thermogravimetry differential thermal, x-ray diffraction and chemical analysis. The optimum synthesizing conditions of ammonium cerium nitrate were discribed as follows; rare earth concentration of starting solution 70-100 g/l. acidity of starting solution 7 mol/l, addition quantity of ammonium nitrate 2-3 equivalent, the condition of rotary evaporation 65℃ and reaction time 15-30 min. It was also known that the chemical formulae of ammonium cerium nitrate was (NH_4)_2[Ce(NO_3)_6] ·×H_2O(x=6-8) from TGA.

      • 참깨에서 추출한 Sesamin 섭취가 혈청 지질 농도에 미치는 영향

        Objectives : High serum cholesterol is one of the major risk factors of coronary artery disease. We investigated the lipid-towering property and the side effects of sesamin, an unsaturated fatty add extracted from sesame oil, for the primary prevention of coronary artery disease. Methods : The 37 patients (20 mates and 17 females) with hyperlipidemia, ages ranging from 22 years to 70 years old (48±12), who did not have atherosderotic diseases except essential hypertension were given three capsules of sesamin once daily for 6 weeks. The lipid profile of the patients were examined before and after sesamin treatment, and the patients were grouped according to the presence or abscence of hypertension, smoking habit and obesity. Result : Compared with pretreatment, the total cholesterol level of sesamin treated group decreased significantly (254.2±29.6 versus 241.6 34.0 ㎎/dl, p< 0.05). The level of LDL-cholesterol (162.6±24.3 versus 156.6±32.8 ㎎/dl)HDL- cholesterol (47.5±10.0 versus 47.0±8.7 ㎎/dl) and triglyceride (196.5±95.4 versus 179.3±96.7 ㎎/dl) and the ratio of LDL/HDL- cholesterol (3.6±0.9 versus 3.4±0.9) were not significantly different. The effect of cholesterol lowering property of sesamin was predominant in hypertensive, non- smoking and obese group (P< 0.05 vs pretreatment). The laboratory tests including complete blood cell counts, serum transaminases, total protein, albumin, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and blood glucose did not change significantly. Conclusion : The lipid lowering effect of sesamin was statistically significant on the total cholesterol particularly with obese, non-smoking and hypertensive patients. There was no significant side effect during sesamin administration. Therefore, three capsules of sesamin as a single daily dose were effective in lowering total cholesterol and safe to administer in patients with hyperlipidemia.

      • 죽염섭취가 혈압 및 전해질에 미치는 영향

        The safety of bamboo salt on human body was evaluated by a clinical study intended for 13 volunteers, who took 10 or 15 grams of bamboo salt daily for 8 weeks in addition to the regular dietary salt intake. Blood pressure and serum electrolytes(Na, K, Cl, Ca, Pi) were investigated. No significant changes of blood pressure were observed in 5 volunteers who took 10 grams of bamboo salt. The systolic and diastolic blood pressures measured before and after taking bamboo salt were at range of 115~140 mmHg and 75~101 mmHg, 118~144 mmHg and 75~104mmHg respectively. Blood pressures observed in 8 volunteers, who took 15 grams of bamboo salt, were also not significantly changed. The systolic and diastolic blood pressures of them were at range of 106~132 mmHg and 65~88 mmHg, 114~124 mmHg and 73~81mmHg respectively. The changes of Na, K, Cl, and Pi in blood serum were not also observed.

        Conflicts between individuals are quite natural and they can act as an positive contributing factor not only to the development of an individual but also to the organization to which one belongs. But too much conflicts will always induce dissatisfaction and stresses, which will be destructive and harmful to all of them, and that is why we are always tying to seek(find) out the causes for the origination of conflicts and remedies to cope with them effectively. The present study, as the first one in a series of studies which our researchers contemplate executing, was designed to develop a measure of job satisfaction for dental laboratory technicians. One job satisfaction measure and two job satisfaction related measures, one for faithfulness for the job and the other for environmental characteristics of dental laboratory were newly developed. The newly developed measures were comprised of a total of 38 items, which were each 12 items for job satisfaction and faithfulness for the job and 14 items for environmental characteristics of dental laboratory With the aid of factor analysis for principal components and categorization of items by panel of professionals, items of each measure were grouped into 2-4 subscales. Contribution to internal consistency was the fina) criterion for an item's inclusion in a subscale. Internal consistency reliability of each item was attested through the statistical analysis on the data obtained from 55 structured questionnaires. Reliability of internal consistency of subscales in each measure of job satisfaction and faithfulness for the job ranged from 0.74 to 0.79 and 0.90-0.91 respectively. The result from this research came to draw the following conclusions. 1. Validity and internal consistency reliability of all the items of each measure was attested. 2. The newly developed measure of job satisfaction was found to be appropriate for (measuring the degree of job satisfaction of) dental technicians, as well as for (other) dental office personnels.

      • 월성원자력발전소 주변의 삼림식생 분석

        월성원자력발전소 주변의 삼림식생을 분석하기 위하여 1994년 4월부터 1994년 10월까지 식물사회학적 조사를 실시하였다. 또한 상관에 의해 현존식생도 및 녹지자연도를 작성하였으며, 순 1차 생산력과 식물현존량도 추정하였다. 군집조성표에 의한 삼림군락은 소나무군락, 곰솔군락, 굴참나무군락, 상수리 나무군락의 4군락으로 구분되었다. 각 군락의 주요 구성종으로는 소나무군락에서 소나무, 졸참나무, 털진달래, 맑은대쑥, 산거울, 곰솔군락에서 곰솔, 소나무, 진달래, 청미래덩굴, 굴참나무군락에서 굴참나무, 조록싸리, 큰기름새, 맑은대쑥, 댕댕이덩굴, 상수리나무군락에서 상수리나무, 갈참나무, 큼기름새, 그늘사초, 맑은대쑥 등이다. 현존식생도에 의한 삼림군락의 분포율은 곰솔군락이 40.3%로 가장 높고, 녹지자연도는 7등급이 60.0%로 가장 넓은 분포율을 보였다. 삼림토양의 pH는 4.45∼5.32, 유기물함량은 5.61∼6.34%의 범위로 나타났다. Montreal model에 의한 순 1차 생산력은 1,555.2g/㎡/yr, 식물현존량은 14,963.32ton/㎢로 추정되었다 The forest vegetation, estimation of phytomass and net primary production on the vicinity of Wolsong Atomic Power Plant were analyzed on the basis of the phytosociological data. And depending on physiognomy, actual vegetation map and the degree of green naturality(DGN) was drawn in 1:50,000 scale. According to Z-M method, the forest vegetation was classified into 4 communities; A. Pinus densiflora community, B. Pinus thunbergii community, C. Quercus variabilis community, D. Quercus acutissima community. Generally, Pinus densiflora, Quercus variabilis, in tree-1 layer, Quercus acutissima, Quercus variabilis, in tree-2 layer, Rhodedendron mucronulatum, Quercus serrate, in shrub layer, Artemisia keiskeana, Carex humilis, in herb layer, showed high coverage index. The pH and contents of organic matter of the forest soil collected in each sites were shown range of 4.45 to 5.32 and 5.61% to 6.34% in mean of communities respectively. The distribution rate in actual vegetation map were the highest in Pinus thunbergii community. The average DGN showed to 5.1. Net primary production and phytomass per unit area which estimated by Montreal model were assumed in 1,555.2g/㎡/yr, 14,963.32ton/㎢, respectively.

      • DBS STB의 스마트 카드 인터페이스 설계

        In this paper, we design a Smartcard interface of DBS(Direct Broadcasting by Satellite) receiver that manages resource and subscriber management system by Mugunghwa satellite broadcasting system. The smartcard is used for subscribers selecting TV programs or various services. It must follow ISO/IEC 7816 standard for smartcard and observe Mugunghwa satellite DBS system regulations. Simulation is performed with virtual smartcard through personal computer serial communication. From the simulation results, the designed method is adequate to function of DBS regulations and shows good performance.
