        Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare disorder of unknown etiology characterized by presence of gastrointestinal symptoms, eosinophilic infiltratio n of one or more parts of gastrointestinal tract without involvement of other organs and absence of parasitic infestation. The clinical presentation depends on the extents and depths of eosinophilic infiltration. Mucosal involvement may result in abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and weight loss. We report a case of eosinophilic enterocolitis in a 55-year-old female presented with abdominal pain and watery diarrhea resulting in recurrent acute renal failure.

        Cheju island formed by volcanic activity which results many distribution of cindercone all over the island. Cindercone is composed of mainly scoria which is called "song-I" in Cheju dialect. The engineering properties of this scoria is completely different from granitic residual soils or sandy soils. Cheju island is being composed of mainly volcanic basalt. because of lack of quartzous sandy materials. Scoria is widely used as road foundation. aggregate for concrete and filler for retaining walls. Therefore scoria is studied on the behaviors of crushability strength. compactability and shearing strength. From this study, the variation of grain size, water content and the influence of shearing strengh due to compaction is observed and correlation of mechanical properties of decomposed granitic soil and scoria is made. The results of compacion test and direct shearing test are as follows (1) Scoria is vesicular perform high permeability accordingly and shows microcrytalline texture with fewer clay minerals while granitic weathered soil has granular texture of which feldspar produce abundant clay minerals by kaolitxation (2) The decompose granitic soils behave increment of density and decrement of optimum moisture content by increasing compaction energy. scoria shows increment of density but no variation in optimum moisture content is observed during the application of compaction energy. This indicates the higher ratio of micro vesicular in scoria. The void ratio after compaction is higher in scoria than decomposed granitic soils. (3) The crushing index is the highest in grain size of 0.1 - 0.5mm in decomposed granitic soil and constant increment of ratio is obseved in scoria. (4) At O.M.C state. the angle of internal fricion is increasing and cohesive index is decreasing due to increment of compaction energy while both angle of internal friction and cohesive index is decreasing due to the increasing simultaneously in scoria. The increment range of shear strength is higher in scoria than decomposed granitic soils. (5) In stress-strain curve this increment range of shearing strength of scoria is larger than granitic soil but the horizontal strain up to failure point is smaller.

        Henceforth, local financial industry should keep up with a rapid change of financial industry circumstances very flexibly so that it will be capable of strengthening competition and competitiveness. Here are some development countermeasures that should be considered positively. First of all, industry credit check and the function of credit evaluation should be strengthen. Second of all, credit guarantee of local small and medium sized company should be enlarged. Third of all, it should be come forward to pick out and support the potential local growth industry. Fourth of all, in order to make sure of existence foundation, restructuring should be accelerated and encouraged aggressively. Fifth of all, it should be necessary for financial organizations to establish strategic alliances among them so that local financial industry will be able to build up the strength. Finally, multilateral and comprehensive countermeasures should be taken into consideration such as establishing local stock exchange so that we can control drain of local subsidy into central government.

      • 부산권 상장기업 기업지배구조와 은행역할에 관한 실증연구 : with Special Reference to the Busan Areas Listing Companies

        Since the financial crisis in November 1997, conglomerates(Chaebol) have been criticized as a culprit behind the recent economic hardship that befell Korea. The conglomerates(Chaebol) are accused of various irregularities, including illegal wealth transfers through tax evasions, unlawful intra-group transactions, violations of fair competition rules and blind diversification. Because of the high leverage and low profitability, such corporations are greatly vulnerable to high risk with the economic fluctuations. The purposes of this paper are to analyze first the corporate governance system of developed countries such as U. S. A., U. K., Germany and Japan. And then to examine the problems and suggest the ways to improve the corporate governance system of Korea. The findings of the empirical analyses of this study are as follows. The corporate governance system of listed companies in Busan areas are family-owned corporate governance system. Therefore, board of directors is not able to monitor the management independently as the principal body of empowered management and responsible management. The form of corporation's financing heavily depends on the banks and it will be expected that this trend will be maintained. In particular, the corporations have been heavily dependent on financing assistance from main bank during the management's risk period and furthermore, when it comes to the improvement of corporate governance system, the bank is strongly regarded as the majority shareholder. From the above empirical results, it follows that the role of financial institution plays an essential role in improving corporation management's disciplines and corporate governance system.

        원위기저 비복동맥 피판술

        Reconstruction of soft tissue defect with exposure of the tendons and bone in the lower third of the leg and the heel represents a challenge to plastic surgeons. The sural artery flap is a fasciocutaneous flap supplied by the sural artery that accompanies the sural nerve and connects with a septocutaneous perforator of the peroneal artery via a suprafascial network of vessels. For the coverage of soft tissue defects, we operated on 10 patients using a distally-based sural artery flap. The sites of the soft tissue defect were the lower third of the leg in 7 cases and the heel in 3 cases. The size of flap varied from 3.5x4cm to 12x18cm. Nine of 10 flaps survived completely. One flap in which the sural nerve was preserved showed partial necrosis but healed spontaneously. Two flaps showed slightly venous congestion which disappeared after a few days. The advantages of the sural flap are a reliable blood supply, easy and quick elevation of the flap, preservation of the major artery and minimal donor site morbidity. The disadvantage of the flap is hypoesthesia at the lateral part of the foot. In conclusion, the distally-based sural artery flap can be used safely for soft tissues coverage in the lower third of the leg and the heel.

        An optimal Stabilization Technique for a bilinear induction motor model is introduced. This technique includes two parts ; the one is an stabilization control using Lyapunov Function which has the form of a sum of liner and quadratic function of the state variables, and the other is an optimalizing control using the performance index which depends on the choice of the elements of the Lyapunov matrices. Therefore, induction moter is drived with the smaller overshoot of the ones, simulation results are obtained from a digital computer.

        Clinical Research Article : The optimal volume of 0.2% ropivacaine required for an ultrasound-guided stellate ganglion block

        Background: This study was performed to find the optimal volume of local anesthetics needed for a successful ultrasound-guided stellate ganglion block (SGB) to treat head and neck pathology. Methods: Fifteen female and fourteen male sensory-neural hearing loss patients received 4 times SGBs with 0.2% ropivacaine in volumes of 6, 4, 3 and 2 ml at 1 to 3 day intervals. Using the transverse short-axis view of the neck that showed Chassaignac`s tubercle at the C6 level, a 25-gauge, and 4 cm needle was inserted via the lateral paracarotid approach with out-of-plane targeting between the prevertebral fascia and the ventral surface of longus colli muscle (subfascial injection). A successful block was confirmed with the onset of ptosis (Horner`s syndrome). Results: There were no significant statistical differences between the presence of Horner`s syndrome and the volume of local anesthetics given. However, Horner`s syndrome was present in all trials for the 4 ml and 6 ml groups. Six (20.7%) and three out (10.4%) of twenty-nine trials in the 2 ml and 3 ml groups, respectively, failed to elicit Horner`s syndrome. The duration of action was significantly different in the 2 ml group compared to that of the 6 ml group, but there was no significant difference between the other groups, including the 4 ml vs. 6 ml groups. The side effects were not different between the groups. Conclusions: This data suggests that the optimal volume of 0.2% ropivacaine for ultrasound-guided SGB to treat the head and neck pathology in daily practice is 4 ml.       • Association between restless legs syndrome and <i>CLOCK</i> and <i>NPAS2</i> gene polymorphisms in schizophrenia

        <P>Previous studies have suggested that there is a genetic basis to restless legs syndrome (RLS) development. Occurrence of antipsychotic-induced RLS could also be due to differences in genetic susceptibility. We investigated whether CLOCK and NPAS2 gene polymorphisms are associated with RLS in schizophrenic patients on antipsychotics because RLS symptoms usually manifest during the evening and night. We assessed symptoms of RLS in 190 Korean schizophrenic patients on antipsychotics and divided the subjects into two groups according to the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group diagnostic criteria: (i) subjects who met all the criteria and (ii) the remaining subjects who did not meet all the criteria. We found a significant difference in the number of subjects with different genotype and allele carrier frequencies for the CLOCK gene (rs2412646) between the two groups (p = 0.031 and 0.010, respectively). Distribution of CLOCK haplotypes (rs2412646-rs1801260) was significantly different between schizophrenic patients with and without RLS (p = 0.021). However, the distributions of allelic, genotypic, and haplotypic variants of NPAS2 (rs2305160 and rs6725296) were not significantly different between the two groups. Our results suggest that CLOCK polymorphisms are associated with increased susceptibility of schizophrenic patients to RLS. We hypothesize that RLS in schizophrenia patients treated with antipsychotics may be a very mild akathisia that manifests during the night and is under control of circadian oscillation.</P>

        Development and validation of an LC-MS/MS method for determination of compound K in human plasma and clinical application

        A rapid, sensitive and selective analytical method was developed and validated for the determination of compound K, a major intestinal bacterial metabolite of ginsenosides in human plasma. Liquid-liquid extraction was used for sample preparation and analysis, followed by liquid chromatography tandem spectrometric analysis and an electrospray-ionization interface. Compound K was analyzed on a Phenomenex Luna C18 column (100×2.00 mm, 3 μm) with the mobile phase run isocratically with 10 mM ammonium acetate-methanol-acetonitrile (5:47.5:47.5, v/v/v) at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min. The method was validated for accuracy (relative error <12.63%), precision (coefficient of variation <9.14%), linearity, and recovery. The assay was linear over the entire range of calibration standards i.e., a concentration range of 1 ng/mL to 1,000 ng/ mL (r² >0.9968). The recoveries of compound K after liquid-liquid extraction at 1, 2, 400, and 800 ng/mL were 106.00±0.08%, 103.50±0.19%, 111.45±5.21%, and 89.62±34.46% for intra-day and 85.40±0.08%, 94.50±0.09%, 112.50±5.21%, and 95.87±34.46% for inter-day, respectively. The lower limit of quantification of the analytical method of compound K was 1 ng/ mL in human plasma. The developed method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study of compound K after oral administration in ten of healthy human subjects.
