A Hardware-Effective and Highly-Scalable Morphological Filter Chip

This paper. presents a hardware-effective and highly-scalable morphological filter chip and comparisions with other architectures. The proposed architecture can significantly reduce the hardware cost by using a feedback loop path and a decoder/encoder pair comparator. In addition, the proposed architecture requires fewer number of operations and can be easily extended for larger size morphological operations. We fabricated the actual chip using the 0.8 ㎛ Samsung^(TM) SOG cell library (KG60K) and the total number of gates is only 2,667. The proposed morphological filter chip has been actually fabricated and is running at 30 MHz that meets real-time image processing requirements of the ITU-R BT.601 standard.

A series of blue fluorescent emitters based on triphenylene derivatives were synthesized via the Diels-Alder reaction in moderate yields. The electronic absorption and emission characteristics of the new functional materials were affected by the nature of the substituent on the triphenylene nucleus. Multilayered OLEDs were fabricated with a device structure of: ITO/NPB (50 nm)/EML (30 nm)/Bphen (30 nm)/Liq (2.0 nm)/Al (100 nm). All devices showed efficient blue emissions. Among those, a device using 1 gives the best performances with a high brightness (978 cd $m^{-2}$ at 8.0 V) and high efficiencies (a luminous efficiency of 0.80 cd/A, a power efficiency of 0.34 lm/W and an external quantum efficiency of 0.73% at 20 $mA/cm^2$). The peak wavelength of the electroluminescence was 455 nm with CIEx,y coordinates of (0.17, 0.14) at 8.0 V.

Many amputation have to be done because of complications from peripheral vascular disease or diabetes. Performing the amputation at the most distal level where healing will promptly occur and where the patients symptoms will be relieved will achieve maximum restoration of function. The decision of level of amputation and wound healing depend on local vasculality. There are many effort directed toward identifying reliable predictors of wound healing in ischemic limb. Various non-invasive vascular studies have been reported to provide valuable data for selection of the optimum level of amputation in limbs in patients who have avascular disease. We evaluated two such method: (1) determination, by the Doppler ultrasound, of segmental blood pressure and ischemic index (2) measurement of the temperature of the skin. The records of seventy-five patients (eighty amputations) were retrospectively reviewed for correlations between the result of the vascular studies and the outcome of the amputation. Among the methods, Ischemic index was most reliable predictors for healed amputation ( 94.6%), and measurement of skin temperature were less reliable (70.8%).

Here, we define the pattern on a go-board which has a tengen-pattern and tengen centered 9 square-patterns using the (area, level, offset) coordinate system. In addition to designing a data structure for go-game display that efficiently manages the liberties of connected moves for the purpose of modifying board pattern after taking out moves, we implement a game-browsing program which identifies group of connected moves to be taken out and then adjusts pattern value for taken out moves to board pattern immediately at each addition of a move to the go board. We discuss necessary conditions for the application of board pattern to pattern database. We show data for the connected moves and taken moves obtained by running above program for 300 games by pro-players.

Ca(OH)₂의 열분해 반응을 이용하는 화학축열법에서는 Ca(OH)₂입자 충전층의 열전도성이 나쁘기 때문에 축열과정의 소요시간이 길어 실용화에 커다란 장애가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Ca(OH)₂입자 충전층의 열전달을 촉진시키기 위해 반응기속에 구리판으로 된 전열핀을 설치하고 열분해 탈수반응 실험을 하였다. 그 결과 전열핀이 없는 경우보다 탈수반응에 소요되는 시간을 1/2 이하로 크게 단축 시킬 수 있었다. The present paper is on the utilization of a thermal decomposition reaction Ca(OH)₂= CaO + H₂O, for thermal energy storage. One of the important problems in this case is how to heat up and decompose the particle of Ca(OH) ₂ effectively where the thermal conduction is poor.<br/> In this study, the effects of Cu-plates which are placed in the Ca (OH) 2 packed bed as heat transfer fins are investigated experimentally.<br/> The results show that the Cu-plates are very effective for heat transfer and the thermal decomposition in the Ca (OH) 2 packed bed. The amount of time to dehydrate took less than a half than that without fins under the conditions of this study.
AJAX-enabled Client Authentication in an Extended SaaS Architecture using Profile Binding

The majority of security attacks emanate from a weak authentication system deployed in the application. A strong authentication scheme is critical especially in an on-demand application such as Software-as-a-Service to ward off possible security threats. In this paper, we propose an unobtrusive Ajax-enabled authentication framework based on profile binding. We use the client’s profile, the client’s IP address and session time stamp as variables for the cryptographic binding. Several security standards are combined such as Message Authentication Code, S/Key OTP and SSL to provide a robust authentication framework. The proposed authentication framework will then be used in an extended SaaS model which is an alternative solution to security challenge confronting many SaaS providers.
