Novel Zero-Voltage-Switching Bridgeless PFC Converter
Haghi, Rasool,Zolghadri, Mohammad Reza,Beiranvand, Reza The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2013 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.13 No.1
In this paper, a new zero-voltage-switching, high power-factor, bridgeless rectifier is introduced. In this topology, an auxiliary circuit provides soft switching for all of the power semiconductor devices. Thus the switching losses are reduced and the highest efficiency can be achieved. The proposed converter has been analyzed and a design procedure has been introduced. The control circuit for the converter has also been developed. Based on the given approach, a 250 W, 400 Vdc prototype converters has been designed at 100 kHz for universal input voltage (90-264 Vrms) applications. A maximum efficiency of 94.6% and a power factor correction over 0.99 has been achieved. The simulation and experimental results confirm the design procedure and highlight the advantages of the proposed topology.

Fast and accurate fault detection is the primary step and one of the most important tasks in fault tolerant converters. In this paper, a fast and simple method is proposed to detect and diagnosis the faulty cell in a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter under a short circuit fault. In this method, the reference voltage is calculated using switching control pulses and DC-Link voltages. The comparison result of the output voltage and the reference voltage is used in conjunction with active cell pulses to detect the faulty cell. To achieve this goal, the cell which is active when the Fault signal turns to "0" is detected as the faulty cell. Furthermore, consideration of generating the active cell pulses is completely described. Since the main advantage of this method is its simplicity, it can be easily implemented in a programmable digital device. Experimental results obtained with an 11-level inverter prototype confirm the effectiveness of the proposed fault detection technique. In addition, they show that the diagnosis method is unaffected by variations of the modulation index.

A model-based Technique for Early and Robust Detection of Oscillatory Failure Case in A380 Actuators
Loïc Lavigne,Ali Zolghadri,Philippe Goupil,Pascal Simon 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2011 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.9 No.1
This paper addresses the problem of Oscillatory Failure Cases (OFC) detection in the Electrical Flight Control System (EFCS) of the Airbus airplanes. OFC can lead to strong interactions with loads and aero-elasticity and consequently are to be detected very early in time. The work describes the status of on going research activity undertaken within a collaborative project between Bordeaux University (France) and Airbus. An hydraulic actuator model is currently used as the basis for a robust analytical redundancy-based technique implemented in A380 Flight Control Computer (FCC) for detecting unauthorized oscillatory events. For upcoming and future generation aircraft (A/C), it could be re-quired to detect OFC earlier with less important amplitude. The method presented here is based on nonlinear state space modeling, associated with the same decision test as used by in-service Airbus A/C. It is shown that the model quality could be improved significantly by reliable estimating of some physical parameters. The fault indicating signals are compared on data set obtained from A380 com-puters during flight tests.

In this paper a general 2-D model of a large air-gap synchronous machine either with non-magnetic or magnetic core rotor is investigated and electrical characteristics of the machine are analytically calculated. Considering the general model, analytical equations for magnetic field density in different regions of the large air-gap machine are calculated. In addition, self and mutual inductances in the proposed model of the machine have been developed, which are the most important parameters in the electromagnetic design and transient analysis of synchronous machines. Finite element simulation has also been performed to verify the obtained results from the equations. Analytical results show good agreement with FEM results.
