      • Investigating nonlinear vibration behavior of sandwich panels with multi-scale skins based on a numerical method

        Zhenming Cui,Xin Cai,H. Elhosiny Ali,Sami Muhsen 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.83 No.3

A nonlinear vibrational analysis of sandwich curved panels having multi-scale face sheets has been performed in this article based on differential quadrature method (DQM). All mechanical properties of multi-scale skins have been established in the context of three-dimensional Mori-Tanaka scheme for which the influences of glass fibers and random carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been taken into account. The governing equations for sandwich the panel have been developed based upon thin shell formulation in which geometry nonlinearities have been taken into account. Next, DQ approach has been applied to solve the governing equations for determining the relationships of frequencies with deflections for curved panels. It will be demonstrated that the relationships of frequencies with deflections are dependent on the changing of CNT weight fractions, fibers alignment, fibers volume, panel radius and skin thickness.

NUMERICAL STUDY ON CAVITATION FLOW CHARACTERISTICS IN DIESEL FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL VALVE

        Zhenming Liu,Jingbin Liu,Jiechang Wu,Xiaolei Gu 한국자동차공학회 2022 International journal of automotive technology Vol.23 No.4

The flow and cavitation in the flow passage of the control valve are calculated, and the effects of operating conditions (including injection pulse width, rail pressure and ball valve lift) on the flow and cavitation characteristics are analyzed under dynamic boundary conditions. The simulation results show that the cavitation in the outflowing control-orifice (OA) and the guide-hole are almost unaffected by these operating conditions. In contrast, the cavitation process in the ball valve chamber has two distinct stages, which can be classified as violent and relatively smooth. The shorter the pulse width, the more severe the average degree of cavitation in the ball valve chamber; however, the risk of cavitation erosion on the ball valve and the ball valve seat surface does not increase too much. The increase of rail pressure and the increase of ball valve lift will aggravate the cavitation, and the cavitation position will move forward closer to the sealing annular surface.

      • UAVs Cooperative Attack Based on Archimedes Spiral

        Zhenming LI,Chaoyong Li,Shuo Zhuo,Sai Chen 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10

This paper investigates a control of track based on Archimedes spiral. The objective is to control UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) circled to the target under the preset track and in a certain time interval. For the circumstance of the known location of start point and target point of UAV, we put forward a control method of angular velocity, with fixed velocity and trajectory of UAV. And in this control method, based on the nature of the Archimedes spiral, the time of UAV from the start point to the target point can be accurately calculated.

Regulation of aicda Expression and AID Activity: Relevance to Somatic Hypermutation and Class Switch DNA Recombination

        Xu, Zhenming,Pone, Egest J.,Al-Qahtani, Ahmed,Park, Seok-Rae,Zan, Hong,Casali, Paolo CRC Press 2007 Critical reviews in immunology Vol.27 No.4

<P>Expression and activity of activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) encoded by the aicda gene are essential for immunoglobulin (Ig) gene somatic hypermutation (SHM) and class switch DNA recombination (CSR). SHM and CSR unfold, in general, in germinal centers and/are central to the maturation of effective antibody responses. AID expression is induced by activated B-cell CD40 signaling, which is critical for the germinal center reaction, and is further enhanced by other stimuli, including interleukin-4 (IL-4) secreted from CD4+ T cells or Toll-like receptor (TLR)-activating bacterial and/or viral molecules. Integration of different intracellular signal transduction pathways, as activated by these stimuli, leads to a dynamic aicda-regulating program, which involves both positively acting trans-factors, such as Pax5, HoxC4, E47, and Irf8, and negative modulators, such as Blimp1 and Id2, to restrict aicda expression primarily to germinal center B cells. The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-K), which functions downstream of activated B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling, likely plays an important role in triggering the downregulation of aicda expression in postgerminal center B cells and throughout plasmacytoid differentiation. In B cells undergoing SHM and CSR, AID activity, and, possibly, AID targeting to the Ig locus are regulated at a posttranslational level, including AID dimerization/oligomerization, nuclear/cytoplasmic AID translocation, and phosphorylation of the AID Ser38 residue by protein kinase A (PKA). Here, we discuss the role of B-cell activation signals, transcription regulation programs, and posttranslational modifications in controlling aicda expression and AID activity, thereby delineating an integrated model of modulation of SHM and CSR in the germinal center reaction.</P>

Cytotoxicity of polymethyl methacrylate cement on primary cultured metastatic spinal cells

        Ji Fang,Jieliang Shen,Wei Jiang,Wen Dong,Zhenming Hu,Zhenming Hu 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2016 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.12 No.2

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) bone cement has been commonly used for percutaneous injection into collapsed vertebral bodies due to malignant tumor. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible mechanisms of PMMA’s cytotoxcity on primary cultured spinal metastastic cells (SMCs) in vitro. PMMA specimens were prepared in standard discs made of dough and polymerization stages, and the eluates were prepared following the ISO standard. Primary SMCs were obtained and isolated from 7 patients with spinal metastatic tumors undergoing vertebroplasty. Primary cultured SMCs were treated with PMMA specimens of different stages for 24 h, or co-cultured with extracted medium for successive 3 days. The temperatures in two locations from cement discs were recorded by K-type thermocouples. Furthermore, cell proliferation, apoptosis and cycles were determined by MTT and flow cytometry, respectively. The modulation of apoptotic proteins (bcl- 2, bax, caspase-3, caspase-8, Fas and PARP) and cell cycle proteins (cyclin D1, P21 and P27) were analyzed by western blot and real time PCR. The results of this study demonstrated that PMMA treatment was able to suppress SMCs proliferation, induce cell apoptosis and inhibit cell cycle arrest when compared to the control group in vitro (P<0.05). Simultaneously, the temperature recorded at the periphery of the PMMA specimen was not high enough to casue thermal injury. Furthermore, molecular markers of apoptosis including Fas, caspase-3 and caspase-9 activated, and Bcl-2/Bax dysregulated in the SMCs with PMMA stimulation. In addition, PMMA treatment showed decreased expression of cyclin D1 that induces cell cycle and increased epxression of inhibitory protein P21, with no significant difference of P27 expression. In summary, the present study confirms that PMMA cement can compromise the vitality and apoptosis of SMCs. This cytotoxic effect may be regulated by the biomarkers Fas, Bcl-2, Bax, caspase-3, caspase-9, cyclin D1 and P21, but not on account of thermal damage.

Properties of ABS/PMMA Binary Blend and ABS/PMMA/MBS Ternary Blend

        Jin Ding,ZhenMing Yue,Jiao Sun,JiCui Zhou,Jun Gao 한국고분자학회 2016 폴리머 Vol.40 No.5

An analysis was performed on the effects of rubber particle size on the mechanical and optical properties of the acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blend and the ABS/PMMA/methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) blend. This work found that when the particle size is 0.22-0.23 μm, the impact strength value of the ABS/PMMA blend is at its maximum and is the same as that of the ABS/PMMA/MBS blend. The optimum particle size is effective in toughening because it can trigger the shear yielding mechanism of the matrix. The miscibility and surface glossiness of the blends with 0.22 μm particle size were also much better than those of the blends with other particle sizes. This work provides new insights into the synergistic roles of rubber particle size and core-shell modifier in the toughening of ABS/PMMA blend with good impact toughness and high surface glossiness.

Changes in element accumulation, phenolic metabolism, and antioxidative enzyme activities in the red-skin roots of Panax ginseng

        Ying Zhou,Zhenming Yang,Lingling Gao,Wen Liu,Rongkun Liu,Junting Zhao,Jiangfeng You 고려인삼학회 2017 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.41 No.3

Background: Red-skin root disease has seriously decreased the quality and production of Panax ginseng (ginseng). Methods: To explore the disease’s origin, comparative analysis was performed in different parts of the plant, particularly the epidermis, cortex, and/or fibrous roots of 5-yr-old healthy and diseased red-skin ginseng. The inorganic element composition, phenolic compound concentration, reactive oxidation system, antioxidant concentrations such as ascorbate and glutathione, activities of enzymes related to phenolic metabolism and oxidation, and antioxidative system particularly the ascorbateeglutathione cycle were examined using conventional methods. Results: Aluminum (Al), iron (Fe), magnesium, and phosphorus were increased, whereas manganese was unchanged and calcium was decreased in the epidermis and fibrous root of red-skin ginseng, which also contained higher levels of phenolic compounds, higher activities of the phenolic compound-synthesizing enzyme phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and the phenolic compound oxidation-related enzymes guaiacol peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase. As the substrate of guaiacol peroxidase, higher levels of H2O2 and correspondingly higher activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase were found in red-skin ginseng. Increased levels of ascorbate and glutathione; increased activities of L-galactose 1-dehydrogenase, ascorbate peroxidase, ascorbic acid oxidase, and glutathione reductase; and lower activities of dehydroascorbate reductase, monodehydroascorbate reductase, and glutathione peroxidase were found in red-skin ginseng. Glutathione-S-transferase activity remained constant. Conclusion: Hence, higher element accumulation, particularly Al and Fe, activated multiple enzymes related to accumulation of phenolic compounds and their oxidation. This might contribute to red-skin symptoms in ginseng. It is proposed that antioxidant and antioxidative enzymes, especially those involved in ascorbateeglutathione cycles, are activated to protect against phenolic compound oxidation.

      • Simulation of Flood Evolution and Quantitative Rrisk Assessment of Baige Landslide in Jinsha River, China

        ( Yang Jiangtao ),( Shi Zhenming ),( Peng Ming ),( Zhu Chunan ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

On October 10, 2018, a landslide with volume about 2.2×106㎥ occurred in Baige Village, Sichuan Province, China, which blocked the Jinsha River and formed a landslide dam with height of 120m, width of 200m and a storage capacity of about 1.5×108㎥. The reservoir water was naturally discharged and its flood had no effect on the downstream area. On November 3, the second landslide with volume about 8.5×106㎥ occurred in the same point, which further increased the original dam width nearly 50m, and formed a landslide dam with height of 170m, and its storage capacity reached 5.24×108㎥. Due to the large storage capacity and the uncertainty of the breaching of the dam, and the discharge flood generated by its breach can bring great threat to the lives and property in the downstream areas. This paper compares the DABA with the measured data to obtain its discharge flow curve, and further based on Hec-Ras to simulate the flood evolution of Baige landslide dam, and the downstream submergence range has been determined. Finally, the Bayesian method is used to quantify the downstream individual risk and loss of life. The results show that Shangjiang and Judian Town were the most seriously affected. In addition, the quantitative risk assessment results show that the amount of risk is negatively correlated with the distance from the dam site. The casualty rate is low due to the submergence area is basically located in the downstream. However, the property loss of local infrastructure and farmland is more serious.
