        Exploration of Chinese-Korean Cooperative Multimedia Design Education

        This paper has done a srudy of Chinese-Korean cooperarive multimedia design educarion. Sino-Korean school of multimedia was set up by Shanghai Universiry of Engineering Science (SUES) and Korea Dongseo Universiry in Ocrober 2002. We have created 3.5+0.5 Teaching Model. In this model, Chinese and Korea professors take courses together. Firstly, paper points our the Chinese government policy background of Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in running schools and the development of Chinese-Korean cooperative multimedia design education in SUES. Secondly, by analyzing the multimedia design industry to understand the Chinese multi-media design education. Thirdly, paper made in-depth srudies for 3.5+0.5 Teaching Model so as to draw rhe experience of successes and problems. Through analysis of Questionnaires for students' learning and living conditions in Dongseo University in 2009 by spss 16.0, paper made a research of mode of A semester studying in Korea, Finally, paper points out the development direction of Chinese-Korean cooperative multimedia design.

        Probiotic supplements alleviate gestational diabetes mellitus by restoring the diversity of gut microbiota: a study based on 16S rRNA sequencing

        Probiotics effectively prevent and improve metabolic diseases such as diabetes by regulating the intestinal microenvironment and gut microbiota. However, the effects of probiotics in gestational diabetes mellitus are not clear. Here, we showed that probiotic supplements significantly improved fasting blood glucose in a gestational diabetes mellitus rat model. To further understand the mechanisms of probiotics in gestational diabetes mellitus, the gut microbiota were analyzed via 16S rRNA sequencing. We found that compared with the normal pregnant group, the gestational diabetes mellitus rats had decreased diversity of gut microbiota. Moreover, probiotic supplementation restored the diversity of the gut microbiota in gestational diabetes mellitus rats, and the gut microbiota structure tended to be similar to that of normal pregnant rats. In particular, compared with gestational diabetes mellitus rats, the abundance of Firmicutes and Actinobacteria was higher after probiotic supplementation. Furthermore, activating carbohydrate metabolism and membrane transport pathways may be involved in the potential mechanisms by which probiotic supplements alleviate gestational diabetes mellitus. Overall, our results suggested that probiotic supplementation might be a novel approach to restore the gut microbiota of gestational diabetes mellitus rats and provided an experimental evidence for the use of probiotic supplements to treat gestational diabetes melitus.

      • Hierarchical Construction of Self-Standing Anodized Titania Nanotube Arrays and Nanoparticles for Efficient and Cost-Effective Front-Illuminated Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

        <P>We report on the influence of hierarchical structures, constructed <I>via</I> layer-by-layer assembly of self-standing titania nanotube arrays and nanoparticles, upon charge recombination and photoelectric performance of front-illuminated dye-sensitized solar cells. Both nanotubes and nanoparticles were produced by anodization rather than additionally employing other methods, providing low cost and great simplicity. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy under AM 1.5 illumination indicates the construction of hybrid morphology has superior recombination characteristics and a longer electron lifetime than nanoparticulate systems. This enhancement with the incorporation of anodized titania nanoparticles with 1D architectures is unprecedented for solar cells. Owing to the better light harvesting efficiency, extended electron lifetime and desirable electron extraction, the short-circuit photocurrent density of solar cell is 18.89 mA cm<SUP>–2</SUP> with an overall power conversion efficiency of 8.80% and an incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency of 84.6% providing a very promising candidate for sustainable energy production with a high performance/cost ratio.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2011/ancac3.2011.5.issue-6/nn201169u/production/images/medium/nn-2011-01169u_0003.gif'></P>

        Predicting BOG rate in cryogenic containers at different liquid levels based on a single test

        As the boil-off gas (BOG) rate is tested to evaluate the thermal insulation performance of cryogenic containers at a 90 % liquid level in standard. This study aims to predict the BOG rate of cryogenic containers at different liquid levels based on a single test. If the BOGs at a 90 % liquid level can be evaluated based on the BOG test at a low liquid level, the large amount of working medium can be saved to reduce the test cost and the equilibration time can be shortened to improve the test efficiency. In this study, the QHALW (heat absorbed by the liquid from its corresponding outer wall) and QHTVL (heat transferred from the corresponding wall of the vapor to the liquid) are analysed to establish the energy equation of the liquid in the BOG test, indicating latent heat of BOG in cryogenic containers includes the QHALW and QHALW. Therefore, the equation between the latent heat of BOG and the two parts of heat isbuilt to predict BOGs at different liquid levels with the tested BOG. The maximum error of the experimental results is not more than 7.0 %, which shows that the BOG is successfully predicted at different liquid levels with a single-tested BOG.

      • Colorectal Cancer Incidence and Mortality in China, 2010

        Background: The National Central Cancer Registry of China (NCCR) affiliated to the Bureau of Disease Control, National Health and Family Planning Commission of China is responsible for cancer surveillance in the entire country. Cancer registration data from each local registry located in each province are collected by NCCR annually to be analyzed and published to provide useful information for policy makers and cancer researchers. Materials and Methods: Until 1st June, 2013, 219 population-based cancer registries submitted data of 2010 to the National Central Cancer Registry of China covering about 207,229,403 population, and 145 cancer registries were selected after quality evaluation for this study. Colorectal cancer cases were selected from the database according to ICD-10 coded as "C18-C20". We calculated the crude incidence and mortality rates by sex, age groups and location (urban/rural). The China population in 2000 and Segi's population were used as standardized populations for the calculation of age-standardized rates. The 6th National Population Census data of China was used to combined with the cancer registries' data to estimate the colorectal cancer burden in China in 2010. Results: Colorectal cancer was the sixth most common cancer in China. It was estimated that there were 274,841 new cases diagnosed in 2010 (157,355 in males and 117,486 in females), with the crude incidence rate of 20.1/100,000, highest in males in urban areas. Age-standardized rates by China standard population of 2000 (ASRcn) and World standard population (Segi's population, ASRwld) for incidence were 16.1/100,000 and 15.9/100,000 respectively. There were 132,110 cases estimated to have died from colorectal cancer in China in 2010 (76,646 men and 55,464 women) with the crude mortality rate of 10.1/100,000. The ASRcn and ASRwld for mortality were 7.55/100,000 and 7.44/100,000 respectively, higher in males and urban areas than in females and rural areas. The incidence and mortality rates increased with age, reaching peaksin the 80-84 year old, and oldest age groups, respectively. Conclusions: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common incident cancers and cause of cancer death in China. Primary and secondary prevention, with attention to a health lifestyle, physical activity and screening should be enhanced in the general population.

        Electrochromic titania nanotube arrays for the enhanced photocatalytic degradation of phenol and pharmaceutical compounds

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Vertically aligned, electrochromic-coloured, amorphous titania nanotube arrays (TNAs) were fabricated using a facile room-temperature, solution-based electrochemical cathodisation method. Rapid cathodisation within 30s converted pristine TNAs into their dark analogues. Compared to their untreated counterparts, the cathodised dark TNAs exhibited significantly enhanced optical absorbance, covering the full spectrum of visible light. Further annealing of the electrochromic coloured amorphous TNAs in a N<SUB>2</SUB> atmosphere induced their transformation into dark crystalline TNAs, which directly harnessed simulated sunlight for the photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants, including phenol, ibuprofen, carbamazepine and caffeine. Compared to the pristine crystalline TNAs (annealed in air), the dark crystalline TNAs showed higher optical absorbance, larger charge carrier density, lower electron transport resistance, and an enhancement of 107−131% in degradation kinetics for the target organic contaminants.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Electrochromic titania nanotube arrays were fabricated by a cathodisation method. </LI> <LI> The fabricated materials exhibited enhanced photo- and electrochemical properties. </LI> <LI> The fabricated materials showed enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organics. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Characterization and Antioxidant Activity of Released Exopolysaccharide from Potential Probiotic Leuconostoc mesenteroides LM187

        A released exopolysaccharide (rEPS)-producing strain (LM187) with good acid resistance, bile salt resistance, and cholesterol-lowering properties was isolated from Sichuan paocai and identified as Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides. The purified rEPS, designated as rEPS414, had a uniform molecular weight of 7.757 × 10<sup>5</sup> Da. Analysis of the monosaccharide composition revealed that the molecule was mainly composed of glucose. The Fourier transform-infrared spectrum showed that rEPS414 contained both α-type and β-type glycosidic bonds. <sup>1</sup>H and <sup>13</sup>C nuclear magnetic resonance spectra analysis showed that the purified rEPS contained arabinose, galactose, and rhamnose, but less uronic acid. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrated that the exopolysaccharide displayed a large number of scattered, fluffy, porous cellular network flake structures. In addition, rEPS414 exhibited strong in vitro antioxidant activity. These results showed that strain LM187 and its rEPS are promising probiotics with broad prospects in industry.

        Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells Are Associated with Viral Persistence and Downregulation of TCRζ Chain Expression on CD8+ T Cells in Chronic Hepatitis C Patients

        Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) play an important role in impairing the function of T cells. We characterized MDSCs in two chronic hepatitis C (CHC) cohorts: a cross-sectional group that included 61 treatment-naive patients with CHC, 14 rapid virologic response (RVR) cases and 22 early virologic response (EVR) cases; and a longitudinal group of 13 cases of RVR and 10 cases of EVR after pegylated-interferon-α/ribavirin treatment for genotype 1b HCV infection. Liver samples from 32 CHC patients and six healthy controls were subjected to immunohistochemical analysis. MDSCs frequency in treatmentnaive CHC was significantly higher than in RVR, EVR, or healthy subjects and was positively correlated with HCV RNA. Patients infected with HCV genotype 2a had a significantly higher frequency of MDSCs than those infected with genotype 1b. Decreased T cell receptor (TCR) ζ expression on CD8+ T cells was significantly associated with an increased frequency of MDSCs in treatment-naive CHC patients and was restored by L-arginine treatment in vitro. Increased numbers of liver arginase-1+ cells were closely associated with the histological activity index in CHC. The TCR ζ chain was significantly downregulated on hepatic CD8+ T cells in CHC. During antiviral follow up, MDSCs frequency in peripheral blood mononuclear cells was directly correlated with the HCV RNA load in the plasma and inversely correlated with TCR ζ chain expression in CD8+ T cells in both RVR and EVR cases. Notably, the RVR group had a higher frequency of MDSCs at baseline than the EVR group. Collectively, this study provides evidence that MDSCs might be associated with HCV persistence and downregulation of CD8 ζ chain expression.

        Bus LNG container heat insulated performance estimate

        Many buses use cryogenic container to store the LNG as fuel. The heat insulated performance is an important parameter that reflected with daily evaporation rate or heat leakage of cryogenic container. In bus running process, the LNG container is affected by many factors and difficult to assess and analyze the heat insulated performance. In order to solve this problem, firstly, according to the LNG container heat leakage transfer process in bus running, the energy equations of the LNG were established. Secondly, the factors were analyzed that affected the heat insulated of the LNG cryogenic container. Then, the heat leakage was calculated depending on the test data of the LNG container in the bus running to estimate the heat insulated performance. At the same time, the LNG container heat insulated performance was also measured at the local inspection agency. We found that there were great differences between the two results, and the reasons for the great differences were further analyzed.
