Aim: The distribution of DNA repair gene XRCC1 and XRCC3 genotypes was used to assess the potential influence of genetic polymorphisms on risk of colorectal cancer, and interactions with other factors. Methods: a 1:2 matched case-control study was conducted with 485 cases and 970 controls. XRCC1 and XRCC2 genotype polymorphisms were based upon duplex polymerase-chain-reaction with the confronting-two-pairprimer (PCR-CTPP) method. Results:The XRCC1 399Cln allele polymorphism was found to be associated with an increased colorectal cancer risk, while an non-significant inversely association was noted for XRCC3 241Thr/Thr genotype. We also found that individuals with the XRCC1 399 Gln and XRCC3 241Met alleles had an elevated risk, while XRCC3241Thr/Thr was proctective. Conclusion: This study is the first to provide evidence of importance of XRCC1 and XRCC3 gene polymorphisms for risk of colorectal cancer in the Chinese population.
A hybrid optimization strategy for simultaneous synthesis of heat exchanger network

The heat exchanger network synthesis problem often leads to large-scale non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming formulations that contain many discrete and continuous variables, as well as nonlinear objective function or nonlinear constraints. In this paper, a novel method consisting of genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed for simultaneous synthesis problem of heat exchanger networks. The simultaneous synthesis problem is solved in the following two levels: in the upper level, the network structures are generated randomly and reproduced using genetic algorithm; and in the lower level, heat load of units and stream-split heat flows are optimized through particle swarm optimization algorithm. The proposed approach is tested on four benchmark problems, and the obtained solutions are compared with those published in previous literature. The results of this study prove that the presented method is effective in obtaining the approximate optimal network with minimum total annual cost as performance index.

Calcium alginate fiber is a biomaterial with promising application in textile industry. However, the poor dyeingproperty of this fiber restricts its development. In this study, three PVAm (polyvinylamine) dyes were applied to the exhaustdyeing of calcium alginate fiber and their dyeing behavior under different dyeing conditions was studied. The dyeing resultsrevealed that PVAm dyes were firmly adsorbed on calcium alginate fiber by coordination bonding formed between theprimary amino groups in PVAm backbones of dyes and Ca2+ ions in calcium alginate fiber. This special complex dyeingmode was further confirmed by a Langmuir-type adsorption manner of PVAm-1 dye for calcium alginate fiber. By theformation of this stable chelation structure between dyes and fibers, high exhaustion rates (88.9-97.1 %) and excellent colorfastness were obtained. SEM and XRD results also showed that the surface and crystal phase of dyed fibers had very slightchanges compared to those of original calcium alginate fibers. The strength property of the fiber was also maintained wellafter this special complex dyeing process.

쿠키영상은 영화의 엔딩 크레딧이 끝난 후 추가되는 영상으로, 역사가 매우 길다. 쿠키영상은 엔딩 크레딧에 관심을 가지지 않는 현상을 해소하는 동시에 영화의 재미를 크게 증가시켰다. 하지만 쿠키영상 이론에 관한 연구는 최근까지도 여전히 부족한 편이다. 다양한 쿠키영상이 만들어지면서 일부 학자들이 그에 관한 이론과 분석을 진행했지만, 영화 속 쿠키영상의 발전에 관해 심도 있게 연구한 문헌은 거의 없다. 최근 마블 시리즈 영화의 인기 상승과 함께, 영화 속 쿠키영상이 점점 더 많은 사람들의 관심을 불러일으켰다. 쿠키영상이 지닌 서사적 가능성과 영화 시리즈 구조에 대한 특징을 연구하기 위해 본 논문에서는 마블 시네마틱 유니버스의 쿠키영상을 중심으로 쿠키영상의 역사, 발전 과정과 함께 변화하는 특징을 연구하였다. 보다 구체적으로 비밀 게시, 속편 암시, 인물 이미지 등의 측면에서 나타나는 쿠키영상의 서사적 기능을 분석하고, 마블 시네마틱 유니버스의 쿠키영상이 만들어낸 혁신적인 부분을 체계화하고자 하였다. Credit cookie which was added to the ending of a movie, has a long history. The credit cookie attracted audiences attention on the ending of a movie, adding color and prosperity to movies. Though a range of credit cookie was made and applied and there are studies on this issue, few attention has been paid on the effects and functions of credit cookie. That is to say, the narrative function and the narrative characters of building a series of movies, highlights its academic values. This paper takes the credit cookie of Marvel movies as the example, studying the narrative functions and characters including “Revealing Secrets”, “Sequel” and “Building Images” based on the history of credit cookie. It also institutionalizes the creative part of the credit cookie.

<P>Light-powered wireless manipulation of small objects in fluids has been of interest for biomedical and environmental applications. Although many techniques employing UV-vis-NIR light sources have been devised, new methods that hold greater penetrating power deep into medium are still in demand. Here, we develop a method to exploit X-rays to propel half-metal-coated Janus microparticles in aqueous solution. The Janus particles are simultaneously propelled and visualized in real-time by using a full-field transmission X-ray microscope. Our real-time observation discovers that the propulsive motion follows the bubble growth enhanced by water radiolysis near the particle surface under X-ray irradiation. We also show that the propulsion speed is remotely controlled by varying the radiation dose. We expect this work to open opportunities to employ light-powered micro/nanomotors in opaque environments, potentially by combining with medical imaging or nondestructive testing.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Prediction and Analysis of Diesel Engine Combustion Noise Using Transfer Function Method

With the increasingly strict emission regulations, the combustion noise has become an important factor restricting diesel engine development. Therefore, it is necessary to study the transfer function and prediction of combustion noise and to control it from the design stage. This paper proposes a method to calculate the combustion noise transfer function. An electronically controlled common rail diesel engine (D19TCI) was selected as the research object. It was tested for in-cylinder pressure and sound pressure across different engine operating conditions. The original signal was preprocessed using time synchronization and least squares polynomial fitting, and the diesel engine combustion noise transfer function was obtained based on motor tests and different injection strategies. The research verified the existence of a transfer relationship between the in-cylinder pressure and surface radiation combustion noise in all directions in the same engine. In addition, the prediction accuracy of the combustion noise obtained using the transfer function was verified. The experimental results show that the combustion noise transfer function obtained using the multiple linear regression main-injection strategy has better consistency result than other strategies, and the results also provide new ideas and methods for optimization design of diesel engine noise reduction.
Behaviour and Modeling of the Bearing Capacity of Shear Stud Connectors

The bearing capacity of shear stud connectors from the simplifi ed design equations in diff erent building codes tends to be underestimated because of a relatively large safety factor. Finite element analysis using ABAQUS was carried out to simulate the force–deformation response of shear stud. The fi nite element model was verifi ed by using push-out tests, and detailed parametric numerical studies were conducted to investigate the force–deformation response of diff erent shear stud confi gurations. A new design equation was derived from linear regression based on the results of the parametric studies. The presented equation shows better agreement with the experimental data. Detailed comparison between the proposed equation and existing design equation in China code for shear stud strength was carried out. The results show signifi cant reduction in the construction cost when the new equation is used.
