[F]or I believe in Culture : The Role of Two Wars in Henry James's Career as a Novelist
Zacharias, Greg W. 한국 헨리제임스 학회 2001 헨리 제임스 연구 Vol.- No.6
Henry James's life is not discussed often in terms of the Civil War and the First World War, the Two great wars that occurred during his life. When James is discussed in relation to those wars, his writing career is not usually the issue. Instead, other matter, such as the "obscure hurt" or a change in citizenship ground the dialogue. Yet there is evidence that the Civil War and the First world War affected James's cultural circumstances and thus his imaginative ones to such an extent that we may say safely that those two wars changed his career as a novelist. But what is more compelling is that writting itself seems to have supplied James with a way to cope with each war and the new cultural circumstances each created. His writing may be seen, then, to represent his very identity at crucial stages in his career. James's adoption of a literary career and his commitment to the literary imagination as an important element of edentity helped him cope with the psychological and cultural fallout that resulted from the Civil War. His virtual renuciation of fiction for a more direct engagaement with life enabled him to cope with World War I.
Condylar hyperplasia: An updated review of the literature
Luis Eduardo Almeida,Joseph Zacharias,Sean Pierce 대한치과교정학회 2015 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.45 No.6
Condylar hyperplasia (CH) is a rare disorder characterized by excessive bone growth that almost always presents unilaterally, resulting in facial asymmetry. Classification of the different types of CH can differ depending on the authors. Correct diagnosis is critical in determining the proper treatments and timing. This paper is a review of the recent literature on the epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, classification, and surgical treatments of CH.

Usually considered as one of the future solutions for grid connection of photovoltaic systems, module integrated converters were already the focus of several researches and projects. Most of the proposed approaches relied so far on the use of high frequency step-up transformers either in isolated operation or integrated in isolated dc-dc topologies. This paper analyses the possibility of using non-isolated topologies to achieve the necessary high-voltage gain for grid connection. Several circuits were analyzed and the best suited one for the current application was evaluated and optimized. Experimental results are presented in the final section.

We utilized dynamic nuclear polarization to hyperpolarize three metabolic imaging agents as singleagents and together (co-polarization with two different organic radicals; OX63 and BDPA). In addition,we describe our initial two slice selective spectroscopy in vivo experiments in mice. These techniquesalong with advances by other laboratories will allow for multiple metabolic pathways to be imaged inreal-time and in vivo.
Dynamics of Stimulated Emission in Single ZnO Nanorod Resonators

ZnO nanorods grown via vapor transport methods have been studied under high optical excitation. Via a focused ion beam (FIB), particular nanorods have been marked on the substrate for optical measurements on as-grown single rods. In the particular nanorods, stimulated emission occurs above a certain excitation threshold. A time-resolved measurement of the single nanorod emission is accomplished by the use of a streak-camera. We focus on the typical lasing dynamics, which is found in these measurements on several samples. We explain the complex dynamics after pulsed excitation, which is caused by the interplay of gain competition among several lasing modes, the bandgap renormalization, and the carrier-density-dependent refractive index.

Phytochemical study on an EtOAc-soluble extract of the root bark of Erythrina mildbraedii resulted in the isolation of six prenylated flavonoids 1—6. Based on physicochemical and spectroscopic analyses, their structures were determined to be new natural products licoflavanone-4′-O-methyl ether (1), 2′,7-dihydroxy-4′-methoxy-5′-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)isoflavone (2), and (3R)-2′,7-dihydroxy-3′-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-2‴,2‴-dimethylpyrano[5‴,6‴ :4′,5′]isoflavan (3), along with three known compounds erythrinin B (4), abyssinin II (5), and parvisoflavone B (6). All the isolates, except for compound 4, inhibited PTP1B activity in vitro with IC50 values ranging from 5.3 to 42.6 μM. This result further suggests that the prenyl group on the B ring of flavonoids plays an important role in suppressing the enzyme PTP1B.
