Fuel rods in nuclear power plants, made of Zr-alloy(zircaloy-4), is immersed in pure water, and surging of this coolant causes fretting for the rods and spacer. In this paper fretting wear of Zr-alloy is investigated in corrosive environment. As the corrosion behavior in fretting is important, Na₂SO₄ solution was used, and electrochemical approach was taken. The wear increases with the potential, which means the electrochemical factor is significant in the fretting of Zr-alloy in corrosive environment. The dynamic corrosion kinetics in the fretting was discussed.
