A Feminist Hermeneutics of Remembrance: Exploration of Mary Magdalene
Yunsoo Joo 한국기독교교육정보학회 2020 Journal of Christian education information tech Vol.0 No.38
Christian education should continue work of Jesus Christ for liberation, restoration, and reformation here and now through the Holy Spirit. However, patriarchal churches have often restrained women under burdensome restriction and perpetuated their victimization by maintaining status-quo through education. In this study, we will investigate the case of Mary Magdalene, who was one of the most outstanding and faithful disciples and apostles. In Church history, theological expositions of her has swung from apostle and leader to harlot, to sinful penitent and back to admired saint. After a series of sermons of Pope Gregory I around 591 A.D., the erroneous belief of Mary Magdalene as a repented prostitute or promiscuous woman had been widespread. These days, Mary Magdalene is recognized as a saint and the "apostle to the apostles" by the Catholic and Protestant churches. Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza insists that the distortion of Mary Magdalene has been harmful to both the tradition and to contemporary Christian women. In this study, by examining the apocryphal literatures as well as the canonical literatures about Mary Magdalene, we will attempt to comprehend how interpretations of the Scriptures can be misused and religious traditions can be distorted and selectively transmitted. Uncritical reproduction of the existing theology of the dominant group can perpetuate oppression and victimization of the marginalized people. For transformation, Christian educators should develop counter-hegemony and reconstruct the superstructure which can replace existing discriminative ones. The current study will contribute not only to recovering the individual case of Mary Magdalene but also to reestablishing the female leadership and apostleship in the Ecclesiastical organization.

This study aims at examining the effect of strategic orientation and entrepreneurial orientation on startup performance. Accordingly, the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on startup performance and the relationship between and roles of two elements that consist of strategic orientation were studied. Empirical research on 122 startup as residents of startup support institutions was conducted. The suitability of the research model was evaluated with the PLS-based structural equation modeling. As a result of empirical analysis, First, confirmed that entrepreneurial orientation has been verified to have a positive effect on strategic orientation. second, it was found that technology orientation did not play a mediating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. Finally, it was confirmed that marketing orientation mediated the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. This study is expected to provide entrepreneurial orientation research for startups and implications for practitioners.

Citizen distrust in government might lead citizens to conceive that the private sector is superior in conducting government activities and in turn give rise to greater levels of support for privatization. Although much attention has been paid to the relationship between trust in government and privatization, there is little research on their relationship in Chile and Korea, which heavily adopted the New Public Management doctrines. Thus, the purpose of this article is to advance the understanding of trust in government by examining the influence of trust in government on citizens’ preference for privatization. Using the samples of Chile and South Korea, the results show that the Korean citizens who distrust their government are more likely to prefer privatization. Contrary to the hypothesized expectation, however, the Chilean citizens support privatization even when they trust in government. The positive association between trust in government and supports for privatization in the Chilean context, in contrast to the Korean context, supports the importance of historical backgrounds in shaping attitudes toward privatization.
The Great Recession, Government Performance, and Citizen Trust
Yunsoo Lee 서울대학교 국제학연구소 2018 Journal of International and Area Studies Vol.25 No.1
Performance theory holds that a high level of government performance leads to citizen trust. Nonetheless, the nature of the relationship between performance and trust continues to elude researchers because of the possibility of reverse causality. To strengthen the validity of causal inference, a researcher needs to look for naturally occurring changes in performance and in turn trust in government. The Great Recession that began around 2008 provides an opportunity to better demonstrate a causal relationship between government performance and citizen trust because it represents an exogenous shock to both the macro and micro performance of government, particularly in several southern European countries most profoundly affected by the crisis. Against this backdrop, the purpose of this article is to probe the causal relationship between government performance and citizen trust in Europe in the context of the Great Recession. This article compares before-after trends in citizen trust in government in Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, with that of Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands using the European Social Survey. The difference-in-differences regression results show that the Great Recession had a dire influence on citizen trust in government, corroborating performance theory.
Effects of a Neonatal Nursing Practice Program on Students’ Stress, Self-efficacy, and Confidence
Yunsoo Kim,박호란,Sung Sil Hong,Hee Jin Chung 한국아동간호학회 2018 Child Health Nursing Research Vol.24 No.3
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a neonatal nursing practice program for nursing students on students’ stress, self-efficacy, and confidence. Methods: A 1-group pre- and post- study design was used. The participants consisted of 64 nursing students who were in a pediatric nursing clinical practicum at a nursing college in Seoul from September 2015 to May 2016. The program consisted of 3 stages-orientation, practice, and debriefing-and was conducted for 3 hours during a 2-week period of the pediatric nursing clinical practicum. The dependent variables were neonatal nursing practice stress, self-efficacy, and confidence. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test, the Pearson correlation coefficient, the x2 test, and descriptive statistics with SPSS for Windows version 22.0. Results: The neonatal nursing practice program was effective at decreasing clinical practice-related stress and increasing confidence and self-efficacy regarding neonatal nursing practice. Conclusion: The neonatal nursing practice program may effectively promote the integration of theoretical knowledge and practice. In the future, we propose to develop various educational programs that reinforce basic nursing skills for neonates as part of an effective pediatric nursing clinical practicum.
