      • A Dynamic P2P Resource Sharing Architecture for Adapting MPEG-21 Digital Items in Mobile Networks

        Due to the vast size, real-time requirement, QoS consideration, etc., of mobile devices, techniques like multimedia transcoding are developed to satisfy the need of surfing the multimedia services using mobile devices. In this paper, we propose a P2P resource sharing architecture for adapting MPEG-21 digital items in mobile networks. In the proposed P2P architecture, digital items can be shared among heterogeneous networking environments. Meanwhile, digital items can be dynamically adapted according to the networking situation and user’s device capacity. The proposed P2P system introduced a new cache and replacement algorithm for managing adapted digital items, which can smooth the transcoding delay variations of digital items during subsequent resource sharing among different networked devices.

      • Spray Combustion Characteristics of De-asphalted oil (DAO)

        In this research, the DAO is used to investigate the droplet and spray combustion characteristics to improve the combustion efficiency of the gas turbine combustor. This research consists of experiments such as TGA, single suspended droplet experiment, gas emission system and chemiluminescence CH<sup>*</sup>, C<sub>2</sub><sup>*</sup> were used to characteristics the fuel properties. The single suspended droplet experiment is used to investigate the evaporation behaviors of the single droplet in a stationary motion at three different high ambient temperatures. Increasing the ambient temperature will increase the speed of evaporation, intensity of the micro-explosions and bubbling, and reduce the initial heating period of the droplet and droplet lifetime. The single suspended droplet experiment of DAO results showed that some admiring phenomena were founded such as, expansion, micro-explosion, ejection, bubbling, char formation, and char ignition. In DAO, evaporation observed without char formation. Experiments are conducted in an atmospheric pressure burner with an air-atomized injector and swirling primary air around it to replicate typical features of a gas turbine combustor. Experiments were conducted for fixed air and fuel flow rates, while the airflow split between the injector and the co flow swirler was varied. Results show a significant reduction in emissions as the fraction of total air fed into the atomizer is increased. Blue flames, reminiscent of premixed combustion, and low emissions of nitric oxides and carbon monoxide were observed for all DAO.
