      • Research on the artistic innovation of Chinese adventure films based on Robert Stam's genre theory - centered on Where Nothing Grows

Yuchuan Zhang,Han Li,Qishuo Zhang,Jingyi Zhao KOREA INSTITUTE FOR HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES 2024 Journal of Arts and Cultural Studies(ACS) Vol.3 No.1

Background: the recovery of the adventure genre has been relatively slow. This subtle change in the market promotes the artistic innovation of traditional genre films. Robert Stamm's film genre theory provides an important reference. As a typical adventure film, “Where Nothing Grows” provides a case to explore artistic innovation. Purpose: This paper will sort the development status of Chinese adventure films based on Robert's genre film theory. “Where Nothing Grows” as the research object, this paper discusses promoting artistic innovation of domestic adventure films from three aspects: narrative expression, character construction, and visual image. Methods: In the first stage, through literature research, this paper analyzes and summarizes the development status of adventure films. The second stage discusses Chinese adventure films' problems and innovative means through cases based on Robert Stamm's genre theory. In the third stage, through comparative research, the film“Where Nothing Grows” is used as a yardstick/control/base film for comparison against other adventure films since 2015. Then, the differences in artistic innovation of their genre characteristics are discussed. Results: The research found that developing Chinese adventure films in the post-epidemic era faces some difficulties and challenges. However, these films' narrative expression, character construction, and visual impact can be improved/needs improvement. Conclusion: Domestic adventure films can complete the innovation of plot structure through 1. Narrative expression; 2. Construct characters that challenge established concepts of traditional roles; 3. Visual images to break the aesthetic fatigue of "visual wonders". These three aspects open up a diversified path for the artistic innovation of domestic adventure films and achieve the result of expanding the artistic innovation space of domestic genre films.

Development of a piezoelectric high speed on/off valve and its application to pneumatic closed-loop position control system

        Niyomwungeri Bruno,Yuchuan Zhu,Cheng Liu,Qiang Gao,Yuyang Li 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.6

The use of smart materials-based high speed on/off valve has exhibited the potential to replace traditional servo and proportional valves in fluid power systems. In this paper, a novel pneumatic high speed on/off valve driven by a piezoelectric stack actuator is developed and its dynamics are studied. For an upstream gauge pressure of 0.5MPa, the valve exhibited a large flow rate of up to 86 L/min. Furthermore, to study the ability of this novel high speed on/off valve to be applied in closed-loop control systems, a real-time position control system is realized using a PID controller. In order to prove its feasibility and effectiveness, a number of closed-loop trajectory tracking experiments are conducted on a pneumatic cylinder. The system is proved feasible and the results demonstrate good tracking performance.

Rapid flow measurement for high speed on/off valve based on coil current derivative

Qiang Gao,Yuchuan Zhu,Yuwen Wang 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.6

The average flow rate of a high speed on/off valve (HSV) is usually obtained by a flow sensor, which leads to pressure loss, structural complexity, and long test time. This paper proposes a rapid flow measurement for HSV based on the coil current derivative. The average flow rate is calculated by the effective opening time, which is solved by the critical moving time according to the proposed flow models. To estimate the critical moving time in real-time, an analytical model between the coil current derivative and the valve’s displacement is derived. Experiments indicate that the error between the linear and nonlinear flow model is small when the frequency is smaller than 50 Hz. Moreover, compared to the linear flow model, the average error of the nonlinear flow model decreases from 0.21 L/min to 0.12 L/min under 100 Hz. The proposed flow measurement method has advantages of rapid measurement, structural simplicity, non-contact, and easy to implement intelligence.

Investigation on adaptive pulse width modulation control for high speed on/off valve

Qiang Gao,Yuchuan Zhu,Zhang Luo,Niyomwungeri Bruno 대한기계학회 2020 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.34 No.4

High speed on/off valves (HSV) have often been used to control flow or pressure in digital hydraulic systems due to higher switching frequency. However, the dynamic performance and energy efficiency are highly affected by the supply pressure and the carrier frequency. In this paper, a new adaptive PWM control method for HSV based on software is proposed. The proposed adaptive PWM consists of a reference PWM, an excitation PWM, a high frequency PWM, and a reverse PWM. First, the nonlinear model of the HSV was established, and the structural composition and working principle of the proposed adaptive PWM control strategy were presented. Secondly, individual feedback controllers for the excitation PWM, the high frequency PWM, and the reverse PWM were designed, respectively;and each of the individual feedback controllers was experimentally verified. Finally, the comparative experimental results demonstrated that, with the proposed adaptive PWM control, the rising delay time of the control pressure drastically reduces by 84.6 % (from 13 ms to 2 ms), the duty cycle’s effective range remains large (12 %-85 %) even with high carrier frequency (100 Hz), and the temperature rise of the valve’s coil shell is reduced by 61.5 %, compared to the three-voltage control. In addition, the dynamic performance and the energy efficiency of the HSV are not affected by the supply pressures and carrier frequencies, which proves that the proposed control strategy can improve the robustness and stability of the valve system.

      • Can Chinese Target Firms Raise Value through Cross-border M&As? The Role of Cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions in China

Ahn, Ok hwa,Yang, Yuchuan 한국재무학회 2007 한국재무학회 학술대회 Vol.2007 No.05

We provide empirical evidence on how cross-border acquisitions from the perspective of an foreigner acquirer differ from domestic transactions, based on stock and operating performance measures. We analyze the shareholder wealth effects of 663 domestic and international acquisitions announced by Chinese corporations between 1993 and 2006. We find some difference between national and cross-border mergers. We find that foreign acquirers experience significantly higher stock and operating performance than for domestic transactions. Higher target gains for cross-border transactions are consistent with the acquirer's ability to correctly value or capture synergies in cross-border takeovers. We also analyze the role of corporate governance in cross- border acquisitions. Consistent with our hypothesis, we find that for cross-border acquisitions, the abnormal returns to the target firm stockholders are increasing in the ownership of the state and entrepreneur. However, we find that takeover premiums are decreasing in the domestic acquirer’s with the increasing of the state owned shares. This result suggests that foreign acquirers have to compensate target firm shareholders for exposing them to worse corporate governance regimes. These results suggest that corporate governance practices have valuation effects. We also examine the sources of wealth gains in Chinese targets of foreign acquirers. We find that exchange and taxes are important in justifying the target premium in foreign takeovers than in domestic takeovers. Taken together, our results suggest that the realization of synergy is the main motive behind foreign takeovers. A probit analysis suggests that takeovers of foreign firms less likely to make deals in which shareholders have positive change in ROE. How ever, interestingly, the dummy for B Shares or H shares is positively related with domestic takeover premium, indicate that the financial transparency and adequate information disclosure are crucial in transition economies.

Response of Growth Performance, Cecal Fermentation Traits and In vitro Gas Production to Substitution of Soyhulls for Lignified Fiber in Rabbit Diets

        Chang, Ying,Qin, Yinghe,Xiong, Yiqiang,Du, Yuchuan,Meng, Qingxiang Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.1

A growth trial (Expt. 1) and an in vitro fermentation experiment (Expt. 2) were conducted to determine the response of growth performance, cecal fermentation characteristics and in vitro gas production to incremental levels of substitution of digestible fiber for lignified fiber in the diet of weaned rabbits. Three diets, formulated by substituting soyhulls (SH; used as digestible fiber source) for soybean straw (used as lignified fiber source) at substitution levels of 0, 25 and 50%, were used in a factorial design. In the growth trial (Expt. 1), increasing levels of SH substitution resulted in a quadratic increase in daily body weight gain rate (p<0.04) and feed conversion efficiency (p<0.02), but in a numerical decrease in dietary DM intake (p=0.15). When SH were included in the diet at 25% substitution level, rabbits had the highest rate of liveweight gain and feed conversion efficiency. As SH substitution level increased, pH values and ammonia-N of cecal contents linearly (p<0.001) decreased, but total VFA concentration linearly (p<0.03) increased. With incremental levels of SH substitution, the percentage of acetate and butyrate linearly (p<0.05) reduced, but the percentage of propionate and minor acids linearly (p<0.03) increased. Increasing the SH substitution levels tended to increase incidence of diarrhea. In the in vitro fermentation experiment (Expt. 2), regardless of origin of substrates fermented, increasing SH substitution level resulted in increased maximal gas production (p<0.001) and shortened gas production lag time, but had no effect on gas production rate (p>0.2). These observations suggest that incrementally feeding SH to rabbits could stimulate their cecal microbial activity, allowing cecal fermentation to shift towards favoring fiber digestion. In conclusion, digestible fiber from soyhulls may partially substitute for more lignified fiber, soybean straw, without having an adverse effect on cecal fermentative and microbial activity and growth performance. For growing rabbits, about 73% of total dietary NDF should be supplied by effective NDF, the remainder could come from digestible NDF, such as soyhulls.

Dexmedetomidine promotes the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma through hepatic stellate cell activation

        Chen Peng,Luo Xiaojun,Dai Guanqi,Jiang Yuchuan,Luo Yue,Peng Shuang,Wang Hao,Xie Penghui,Qu Chen,Lin Wenyu,Hong Jian,Ning Xue,Li Aimin 생화학분자생물학회 2020 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.52 No.-

Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is an anesthetic that is widely used in the clinic, and it has been reported to exhibit paradoxical effects in the progression of multiple solid tumors. In this study, we sought to explore the mechanism by which DEX regulates hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression underlying liver fibrosis. We determined the effects of DEX on tumor progression in an orthotopic HCC mouse model of fibrotic liver. A coculture system and a subcutaneous xenograft model involving coimplantation of mouse hepatoma cells (H22) and primary activated hepatic stellate cells (aHSCs) were used to study the effects of DEX on HCC progression. We found that in the preclinical mouse model of liver fibrosis, DEX treatment significantly shortened median survival time and promoted tumor growth, intrahepatic metastasis and pulmonary metastasis. The DEX receptor (ADRA2A) was mainly expressed in aHSCs but was barely detected in HCC cells. DEX dramatically reinforced HCC malignant behaviors in the presence of aHSCs in both the coculture system and the coimplantation mouse model, but DEX alone exerted no significant effects on the malignancy of HCC. Mechanistically, DEX induced IL-6 secretion from aHSCs and promoted HCC progression via STAT3 activation. Our findings provide evidence that the clinical application of DEX may cause undesirable side effects in HCC patients with liver fibrosis.

Research on the calculation method of sensitivity coefficients of reactor power to material density based on Monte Carlo perturbation theory

        Wang Wu,Li Kaiwen,Guo Yuchuan,Jia Conglong,Li Zeguang,Wang Kan 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.12

The ability to calculate the material density sensitivity coefficients of power with respect to the material density has broad application prospects for accelerating Monte Carlo-Thermal Hydraulics iterations. The second-order material density sensitivity coefficients for the general Monte Carlo score have been derived based on the differential operator sampling method in this paper, and the calculation of the sensitivity coefficients of cell power scores with respect to the material density has been realized in continuous-energy Monte Carlo code RMC. Based on the power-density sensitivity coefficients, the sensitivity coefficients of power scores to some other physical quantities, such as power-boron concentration coefficients and power-temperature coefficients considering only the thermal expansion, were subsequently calculated. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated in the power-density coefficients problems of the pressurized water reactor (PWR) moderator and the heat pipe reactor (HPR) reflectors. The calculations were carried out using RMC and the ENDF/B-VII.1 neutron nuclear data. It is shown that the calculated sensitivity coefficients can be used to predict the power scores accurately over a wide range of boron concentration of the PWR moderator and a wide range of temperature of HPR reflectors.
