      • 지산 조호익의 군자와 교육자로서의 삶

        이 연구는 조선 중기 유학자 지산 조호익의 군자와 교육자로서의 삶을 탐구하는데 목적이 있다. 지산은 주박과 이황에게 수학하였으나, 벼슬에 뜻을 두지 않고 위기지학에 전념하였다. 32세 때 모함으로 전가사변을 당해 17년간 평안도 강동에서 유배생활을 하였다. 학문의 불모지였던 관서지역에서 교육에 힘써 선조가 관서부자 어필을 하사하였다. 박대덕, 김육 등의 제자로 관서학맥과 재경학맥을 형성하였다. 임진왜란 때 의병장으로 국난극복에 앞장서 선무일등훈에 녹훈되었다. 말년에 선대의 고향 영천에 우거하면서 박돈, 정사진 등의 제자로 영천학맥을 형성하였다. 모함에 의한 장기간의 유배로 고난을 겪었지만, 고매한 인품과 학덕으로 군자와 교육자로서 모범을 보였다. 지산의 언행이 기록된 사료를 통해 군자와 성공한 교육자로서의 삶을 확인할 수 있다. 박대덕은 3년, 김육은 3개월간 지산의 시묘살이를 하여 군사부일체의 모범을 시현하였다. 이조판서에 증직되었으며, 시호는 문간(文簡)이다. 사액서원인 도잠서원과 학령서원에 배향되었다. 지산집, 가례고증 등의 저서를 남겼다. 16∼17세기 한반도 남북에 관서와 재경, 영천학맥을 형성한 지산의 군자, 교육자, 유학자, 의병장으로서의 삶 전반에 대한 체계적인 연구가 필요하다. The purpose of this study is to investigate Jisan Cho Ho-Ik’s life as Gunja and educator. Jisan was an outstanding scholar in mid Chosŏn dynasty. Jisan learned from his father Cho Yun-Shin(曺允愼), Ju Bak(周博) and Lee Hwang(李滉). Unfortunately, he was banished to Gangdonghyeon, Pyeongan Province for 17 years falling into a snare from the age of 32 to 48. Despite all, Jisan accepted his situation as a destiny and sublimate it to cultivate his moral and academic quality as Gunja. He overcame the pain in banishing wisely and educated many students gathering from neighboring areas. King Seonjo(宣祖) granted him the title of Kwanseobuja(關西夫子). When Japanese invaded Korea in 1592, he raised an army for the cause of justice. Jisan practiced wisdom(智), humanity(仁) and courage(勇), Gunja’s main virtues, in Confucianism faithfully. In additition, Jisan emphasized theory into practice. He educated many respectable figures like Kim Yuk(金堉), Park Dae-Duck(朴大德) and Lee See-Jik(李時稷) etc. He wrote the collection named Jisanjip(芝山集) and received a posthumous title, Mungan(文簡). He was dedicated a memorial hall named Dozamseowon(道岑書院). Therefore, it is not too much to say that he had lived the life of Gunja and successful educator.

        A Survey of Injuries and a Comparative Study of Characteristics for Each Detailed Sport of TAEKWONDO

        Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the status of injuries by each detailed sport of Taekwondo and provide the basic data for developing an injuries prevention program appropriate for the characteristics of each sport. Method: A total of 110 college and university Taekwondo athletes were targeted, including 35 for competition, 33 for poomsae, and 42 for demonstration, respectively, and the status of injuries and treatment methods were surveyed and analyzed. The results are as follows. Results: First, as for the injuries related experiences, 82.4% of those for competition, 69.7% of those for poomsae, and 78% of those for demonstration turned out to have had relevant experiences, and as for the sur-gery related experiences by each sport, those for competition were 44.1%, those for poomsae were 15.2%, and those for demonstration were 21.4%, respectively. Second, as a result of analyzing the their recovery period, those for sparing were 28.6% and those for demonstration were 42.9% responding with less than 4 weeks at the most. Meanwhile, those for poomsae demonstrated the highest rate of 36.4% for over 6 months. Third, as a result of analyzing the situation of injuries, those for competition were 80%, those for poomsae were 78.8%, and those for demonstration were 63.4%, responding that they have suffered most injuries during this sport. Fourth, as a result of analyzing the causes of injuries, 24% of those for competition responded with collision or fall the most. 21.7% of those for poomsae and 25% of those for demonstration responded fatigue and overwork as the causes of inju-ries the most. Fifth, as a result of analyzing the timing of injuries, 36.8% of those for competition, 42.6% of those for poomsae, and 38.4% of those for demonstration responded that they have suffered the most injuries during the winter. Sixth, as a result of analyzing the types of injuries, sprains and fractures accounted for the most with 17.7%, respectively, while 18.9% of those for poomsae and 25.2% of those for for demonstration responded the most with sprain. Seventh, as a result of analyzing the parts of injuries, 28.8% of those for competition, 34.5% of those for poomsae, and 34.5% of those for demonstration responded the most with lower body injuries. Lastly, as a result of analyzing the method of handling injuries, 24.7% of those for competition, 19.6% of those for poomsae, and 19.9% of those for demonstration responded the most with treatment after visiting an oriental medicine clinic. Conclusion: Gathering which, given the high frequency of sports injuries for the athletes, conditioning is need-ed, and it is also determined that the measures for maintaining body temperature and preventing injuries are required during the winter exercises. Furthermore, given the characteristics of Taekwondo, the frequency of use of the lower body is quite high, and as it is evident that the lower body injuries are prevalent, and since there are many sprains and fractures, in line with the causes and types of such injuries, systematic training methods for improving the athletes performance and preventing injuries, and such preventive methods as taping, braces, and warm-up exercises would likely be required.

      • Analysis on Characteristics of Bond Strength According to Asphalt Binder

        Generally, asphalt binder experiences short-term aging during mixing and constructing processes in high temperature environments and long-term aging during the service life after opening the road. Binder aging inside asphalt mixtures incurs changes in strength of asphalt paved roads, which then changes physical properties of the mixture such as cracks and rutting resistance. This study aims to measure bond strength of aging asphalt binder using asphalt bond strength (ABS) test that can measure a bonding force of asphalt binder and aggregate surface using Pneumatic Adhesion Tensile Testing Instrument (PATTI) used previously in the paint industry as a testing method specified in AASHTO TP-91.

        Prognostic Role of Right Ventricular-Pulmonary Artery Coupling Assessed by TAPSE/PASP Ratio in Patients With Acute Heart Failure

        BACKGROUND: Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction is a significant risk of major adverse cardiac events in patients with acute heart failure (AHF). In this study, we evaluated RV-pulmonary artery (PA) coupling, assessed by tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE)/pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) and assessed its prognostic significance, in AHF patients. METHODS: We measured the TAPSE/PASP ratio and analyzed its correlations with other echocardiographic parameters. Additionally, we assessed its prognostic role in AHF patients. RESULTS: A total of 1147 patients were included in the analysis (575 men, aged 70.81 ± 13.56 years). TAPSE/PASP ratio exhibited significant correlations with left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction(r = 0.243, p < 0.001), left atrial (LA) diameter(r = −0.320, p < 0.001), left atrial global longitudinal strain (LAGLS, r = 0.496, p < 0.001), mitral E/E′ ratio(r = −0.337, p < 0.001), and right ventricular fractional area change (RVFAC, r = 0.496, p < 0.001). During the median follow-up duration of 29.0 months, a total of 387 patients (33.7%) died. In the univariate analysis, PASP, TAPSE, and TAPSE/PASP ratio were significant predictors of mortality. After the multivariate analysis, TAPSE/PASP ratio remained a statistically significant parameter for all-cause mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 0.453; p = 0.037) after adjusting for other parameters. In the receiver operating curve analysis, the optimal cut-off level of TAPSE/PASP ratio for predicting mortality was 0.33 (area under the curve = 0.576, p < 0.001), with a ensitivity of 65% and a specificity of 47%. TAPSE/PASP ratio < 0.33 was associated with an increased risk of mortality after adjusting for other variables (HR, 1.306; p = 0.025). CONCLUSIONS: In AHF patients, TAPSE/PASP ratio demonstrated significant associations with RVFAC, LA diameter and LAGLS. Moreover, a decreased TAPSE/PASP ratio < 0.33 was identified as a poor prognostic factor for mortality.
