The purpose of this study was to determine whether any difference existed in craniofacial morphology between parents of children with cleft lip and/or palate and parents of children without cleft lip and/or palate as well as the characteristics of craniofacial morphology in parents of children with cleft lip and/or palate. Thirty three measurements of the various regions of cranium and face were obtained from lateral cephalometric radiograms in parents of 28 children with cleft lip and palate, 18 children with cleft lip, and 22 children with cleft palate. There were 28 couples and 40 single parents in this sample. There were 92 individuals including 41 males and 51 females. The measurements were compared with those in control subjects, including 40 adult males and 40 adult females, who had no history of craniofacial abnormalities. The total sample was compared for the sex independently. The obtained results were as follows. 1. In the cranium, both parents of cleft children had significantly shorter posterior cranial base length(S-Ba). 2. In the upper face, a significantly shorter anteroposterior length of maxilla(A'-Ptm'), particularly in the anterior region (A'-K'), anterior facial depth(A-SBaL), posterior facial height(Ptm'-SNL) and relation of subnasale to the cranial base(<BaN"Sn) were noted in fathers of cleft children. But, all measurements were not found to be significantly different between experimental group and control group in all mothers. 3. In the lower face, both parents of cleft children showed a significantly greater Y axis angle(<NSGn)and ramal plane angle(<SNL-RP) in fathers of cleft children. Thus both patents showed a posteriorly rotation of mandible. The thickness of the lower lip(B-B") was significantly thicker in fathers of cleft children. 4. In the facial profile, a significantly shorter posterior facial height(S-Go) and greater angle of soft tissue facial convexity (<BaN"Pog") were noted in the fathers of cleft children. But, all measurements were not found to be significantly different between experimental group and control group in all mothers.

The stabilization control of Inverted Pendulum(IP) system is difficult because of its nonlinearity and structural unstability. Futhermore, a series of conventional techniques such as the pole placement and the optimal control based on the local linearizations have narrow stabilizable regions. At the same time, the fine tunings of their gain parameters are also troublesome. Thus, in this paper, an Evolving Neural Network Controller(ENNC) which its structure and its connection weights are optimized simultaneously by Real Variable Elitist Genetic Algorithm(RVEGA) was presented for stabilization of an IP system with nonlinearity. This proposed ENNC was described by a simple genetic chromosome. And the deletion of neuron, the determinations of input or output neuron, the deleted neuron and the activation functions types are given according to the various flag types. Therefore, the connection weights, its structure and the neuron types in the given ENNC can be optimized by the proposed evolution strategy. And the proposed ENNC was implemented successfully on the ADA-2310 data acquisition board and the P-III microprocessor in order to stabilize the nonlinear system. initial values and the external disturbances applied to pendulum. Its main hardwares were made of the ADA-2310 data acquisition board and the P-III microprocessor. Through the simulation and experimental results, we showed that the finally acquired optimal PENNC was very useful in the stabilization control of nonlinear(IP) system.

The purpose of this research examines whether love affects marital power relationship. In trying to test the hypotheses according to which the spouse "more in love" expects and has less power in the marital relationship than the spouse "less in love", marital power and love was examined. Marital power was measured by means of expectant and actual decision making used by Blood and Wolfe. Love was measured on the basis of four questions used by Safilios-Rothschild. The data were drawn from 580 married couples in Seoul and Jeonju city. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The hypothesis 1 which the spouse "more in love" expects less power is not supported. 2. The hypothesis 2 which the spouse "more in love" has less power is supported only the data from wife. That is, when women perceive that their husband is "more in love" they also perceive that they claim the power to make decisions than when they perceive that they are "more in love". And when women perceive that they are "more in love", the trends show husband dominant.

This is a report of adenoid cystic carcinoma occurred in the palate in 30-year-old patient with a complaint of exophytic mass. The authore dignosed it as adenoid cystic carcinoma by the clinical examination, radiographic findings and histopathological findings. The obtained results are as follows ; 1. In clinical examination, asymptomatic exophytic mass of palate was observed. 2. in radiographic findings, soft tissue mass infiltrated the left maxillary sinus, nasal cavity, infraorbital fossa, hard palate, pterygopalatine fossa and pterygoid plate, and enhanced soft tissue mass was also observed in CT. 3. In histopathological findings, tubular and solid patterns of glandular structures were observed and the infiltration of tumor cells into the nerve fibers was also observed. 4. Two years after radical surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, the perineural spread to orbital area was observed. 5. Much longer follow-up than 5 years in needed for early diagnosis off recurrence and distant metastasis.

The purpose of this study is, through a close look at the works on scaffolding and ZPD. to present some fundamental data to the research into teacher's intervention involved in scaffolding in the children's dramatic play The effective use of scaffolding. which could help children to achieve scholastic goals or develop their cognition ability. has been considered in the following 6 aspects regarding the various assignments involved in the teaching method. 1 The main purpose of ZPD is to help children to maintain the performance of assignment on ZPD and facilitate their self-control through cooperation activities one another. 2 The effective scaffolding when needed, could let children provide help and coordinate the kinds of help by their abilities. 3 The proper use of scaffolding by parents was related to children's capacities for achievements and, by the changes in ZPD, could possibly be arranged in intervention levels. 4 Teachers who had performed problem controls gave an important effect on the social interaction and thinking process of children. 5 Scaffolding in classrooms, coupled with teacher's combination with children through language, is related to some more effective scholastic activities, and teacher's help for children's communication enabled them to perform assignments in ZPD. 6 The growth in children's cognition always takes place in activities and can be achieved through several collective activities for problem solution. For social interaction and thinking process, cooperative activities with adults could help. Teacher's scaffolding in children's dramatic play has been considered in the following 6 aspects. 1 Scaffolding in the dramatic play helped children to have a better communication, having them study and practice the rules in their social interaction. 2 The adult's proper intervention in the dramatic play helped children develop linguistic ability and enlarge the scope of languages used in the dramatic play. 3 The cooperative and reactive interaction with adults was needed for the success of "the dramatic play" 4 Teachers are supposed to provide children with help when requested and also support for children's self-ruling by withdrawing the help, giving a chance for children to develop their sense of responsibility as technics in the play improve. 5 The effective presentation of scaffolding in the cooperation process improved children's ability for the dramatic play.
