A Control System for Dual-Axis Linear Motor
Yoshiyuki UCHIDA,Shigemitsu NOHIRA,Yoshiyuki SElKE,Hiroyasu SHINGU,Tetsuo SUMI,Hideo FURUHASHI,Jun YAMADA 대한전자공학회 1992 대한전자공학회 학술대회 Vol.1992 No.10
Fundamental positioning characteristics of a dual-axis Sawyer linear motor are described. The Sawyer motor is capable of high positional accuracy. An electronic control unit of the motor whose velocity is proportional to the frequency of the electric current was produced in our laboratory. The positioning system was constructed using two Sawyer motors, an air bearings suspension unit and an electronic control unit. The stable motion of the motor was confirmed on the open loop operation. The adjustable operating conditions were the live load of 1㎏, the maximum acceleration of 1.2G and the maximum velocity of 350㎜/s. Absolute positioning accuracy was improved within ±5㎛, on microstep operating conditions of dividing one pitch of 508㎛ into 508 steps. The following two conclusions were obtained. An accelerating-cruising-decelerating control is effective for reduction in the travel time required. Also, microstep operation is effective for improving the resolution of position.
The Structure of Chaucer’s Ambiguity with a Focus on Modal Discourse (Tr 5.1084, etc.)
Yoshiyuki Nakao 한국영어학학회 2006 영어학연구 Vol.- No.21
Ambiguity has long been recognized as a rewarding research area in linguistics and literature. This recognition dates back to the seminal work of Empson (1930) on the subject. Now that linguistics no longer avoids the problem of meaning, which represents a great deal of departure from structural linguistics, meaning itself is regarded as indispensable to the study of language and literature, and ambiguity has come into sharp focus. Much has been achieved in the field of literature since. Nakao (2004), The Structure of Chaucer’s Ambiguity, is an attempt to show how ambiguity is likely to occur with special reference to one of Chaucer’s works, Troilus and Criseyde (henceforth Tr). This paper is a brief sketch (with slight revisions) of Nakao (2004). I will first state the background of this research, secondly propose the framework to describe how Chaucer’s ambiguity is likely to occur, and thirdly deal with his ambiguity in modal discourse (Tr 5.1084, etc.) within this framework.

Many measurement methods for understanding consumers’ acceptable price range have been developed. Among these, Price Sensitivity Meter (PSM) is one of the most popular. It has been regarded as a convenient research method because of the ease of data collection and data processing. In particular, PSM requires only four questions to determine the price range. Nevertheless, it also has some problems from a theoretical viewpoint. The purpose of the present research is to develop a new price research method for measuring consumers’ acceptable price range. In particular, applying survival analysis to data prepared for PSM, Japanese consumers’ price acceptance ranges for several categories were estimated.

Study Design: Experimental animal study. Purpose: To evaluate pain-related behavior and changes in nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB), receptor activator of NF-kB (RANK), and ligand (RANKL) in dorsal root ganglia (DRG) after combined sciatic nerve compression and nucleus pulposus (NP) application in rats. Overview of Literature: The pathological mechanisms underlying pain from lumbar-disc herniation have not been fully elucidated. RANKL are transcriptional regulators of inflammatory cytokines. Our aim was to evaluate pain-related behavior and RANKL expression in DRG after sciatic-nerve compression and application of NP in rats. Methods: Mechanical hyperalgesia and RANKL expression were assessed in three groups of rats: NP+sciatic nerve compression (2 seconds), sham-operated, and controls (n=20 each). Mechanical hyperalgesia was measured every other day for 3 weeks using von Frey filaments. RANKL expression in L5 DRGs was examined at five and ten days after surgery using immunohistochemistry. Results: Mechanical hyperalgesia was observed over the 12-day observation period in the NP+nerve compression group, but not in the control and sham-operated animal groups (p <0.05). RANKL immunoreactivity was seen in the nuclei of L5 DRG neurons, and its expression was significantly upregulated in NP+nerve compression rats compared with control and sham-operated rats (p <0.01). Conclusions: The exposure of sciatic nerves to mechanical compression and NP produces pain-related behavior and up-regulation of RANKL in DRG neurons. RANKL may play an important role in mediating pain after sciatic nerve injury with exposure to NP.
Two Dimensional Measurement of Electron Density in LHD plasmas by Sheet-Shaped Thermal Lithium-Beam
yoshiyuki Takahashi,K. Toi,T. Morisaki 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.III
In the Large Helical Device (LHD), of which the magnetic surfaces are surrounded by a complicated ergodic magnetic field layer, two dimensional measurement of electron density was carried out by using a thermal lithium beam shaped into a sheet extended along the major radius. The thermal lithium beam having a sheet shape was produced in a simple way, the lithium vapor was passed through three orifices placed in front of an aperture of an oven, and was injected vertically into the LHD plasma. Two dimensional images of LiI emission were obtained by using a CCD camera with an interference filter for the LiI spectral line. A two dimensional profile of electron density near the plasma edge region was successfully derived from the LiI emission image.
