Cardiovascular Neurons Mediating Somatosympathetic Reflex in Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla

The rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM) includes vasopressor neurons, which transmit activation signals to the intermediolateral nucleus (IML) of the spinal cord, where the preganglionic sympathetic nucleus is located, to raise arterial blood pressure (BP). However, controversy exists as to the possible depressor area in the RVLM and the pathway involved. The present study persued evidence far the location of depressor neurons and the pathway by simultaneously observing changes in BP and the firing rate (FR) of cardiovascular neurons (CVNs) in the RVLM during the somatosympathetic reflex (SSR) elicited by peripheral nerve stimulation, since CVNs are known to contribute to the generation of the sympathetic nerve discharge. In 42 cats, anaesthetized with α-chloralose, single unit recording was performed, using carbon filament electrodes inserted into the RVLM, enabling estimation of the post R wave unit histogram (PR-UNlT) and the spike triggered average of sympathetic nerve discharge (STA-SND), allowing identification of CVNs. Antidromic stimulation of spinal T₂ segment was followed to determine whether the identified CVN projects axonal endings to the spinal cord (reticulospinal neuron). The sciatic nerve was electrically stimulated at AΔ-intensity (1 mA, 0.1 ms), 1 Hz and C-intensity (10 mA, 0.5 ms), 20 Hz to elicit the depressor, and pressor responses of the SSR, respectively. Simultaneous measurement of CVN firing rate was made. Experimental results are summarized as follows. 1) 20 out of 98 CVNs had axonal projections to the spinal cord and 17 out of 98 CVNs showed FR changes during SSR. 2) Response patterns of FR and BP during SSR were classified into 8 types. 3) These 8 different response patterns could be further classified into those from pressor and depressor neurons. These results demonstrate that some CVNs were identifiable as reticulospinal neurons responding to anti-dromic stimulation and that CVNs operating as depressor neurons as well as pressor neurons exist in the RVLM, both of which are involved with SSR mediation. Therefore, evidence was found that an independent depressor pathway might be involved in the mediation of SSR.

太谿穴의 臨床 活用에 대한 文獻考察

Literally, the mean of Tae-gye is highest brook. And on the basis of the acupuncture theory, Tae-gye point is the Soo earth point and source point of the Kidney Channel as well. In addition, Tae-gye point is one of the Yang-Returning Nine points. We were trying to study bibliographically on the Tae-gye point because Tae-gye point can be used very broadly across the symptoms in the theoretical aspect described above. As a results, we found out that according to the classical books of acupuncture, Tae-gye point is entering point of the Meridian Water as a source point and can be used at both Kidney-Sufficient Syndrom and Kidney-Deficient Syndrom. And Tae-gye can be applied to the disease of kidney or bladder that is urogenital symtoms, Also, Tae-gye is an useful option of tooth-ache, asthma, indigestion, constipation, edema etc whose cause is related with decrease of Kidney ki.

세라믹 종류에 따른 코어링 특성에 관한 연구

A diamond core drill has been well carried out in the ceramics drilling. In this investigation, a vertical type machining center (MC) was used in the coring of Al₂O₃and Si₃N₄ceramics with a metal bonded diamond core drill. To clarify the mechanism of coring, the influences of coring conditions on the coring force, grinding ratio, succesive zone of coring were studied. At the wheel feed speed of 5.2 mm/min, and the wheel revolution of 3000rpm in Al₂O₃ceramics, the wheel speed of 2.7 mm/min, and the wheel revolution of 1500rpm in Si₃N₄ceramics, the best grinding ratio was obtained. But, from a viewpoint of coring speed, the wheel feed speed at 37 mm/min (Al₂O₃) and 10 mm/min (Si₃N₄) were best, when the coring depth was to 1 mm.

The configurations of filter bed is important factor in existing water treatment plant because of water purification and operating cost. Therefore this paper proposed the headloss equation abtained from this experiment using the tracer study in filter. Some of results are as follow. 1. The headloss correction coefficient(f)is proposed in order to apply it for the clogging filter media. It is given by next equation. h/h_(0)=1.14exp(-7.42σ)(1-ε_(0)+σ/1-ε_(0))²(ε_(0)/(ε_(0)-σ))³ 2. Most of turbidity materials were captured within 5㎝ from the top of the 0.6㎜ size media on the other hand the removal efficiency of the media which was larger than 1.35㎜ was distributed throughout the bed.

In most urban areas, as though urban bus operators have financial difficulty, the operators are being much more concerned about increasing fare than decreasing cost and generating new ridership with optimal bus networks. So it is necessary to develop effective solution in order to improve this problems. Therefore, this study developed a model of determining optimal bus networks. The model can be used to design a new bus network or redesign the existing bus network, and can incorporate both operational and planning policies in each stage. This study is consisted of two major works. One is the development of an algorithm for generation feasible candidate routes that can meet constraints. The other is the suggestion of the method that can be used to determine optimal bus networks by using the dynamic programming. The model developed in this study is made individual modules, so each stage is independent, and planner's policy can be incorporated into the planning proces.

GIS is evolving from a technology that addresses specific applications to a broad-based information system. Its value goes beyond increased efficiency, cost savings. Therefor GIS will be fundamental to the future on the internet. But our organizations and societies exclusively handle geographic informations in Korea. and they use independently foregin commercial GIS softwares. It makses difficult to accmulate local techniques in GIS. In order to solve this problem we implement WEB-GIS using JDBC without depening specific software.

대기환경지수를 이용한 제주지역 대기질 평가에 관한 기초적 연구

The assessment of the air quality of Cheju area was carried out by AI(Air Index) and AEI(Air Environment Index). The air quality data, which measured at two air pollution monitoring network(Idodong ; located at Cheju city, Yongsuri ; located at western coastal region of Cheju island), were used in this study. The average concentration of major air pollutants(SO_(2), NO_(2), CO, TSP(PM-10)) were very low, but the ozone(O_(3)) concentration remarkably high. The monthly A1 values at Idodong and at Yongsuri were 7.0 ± 1.8 and 4.7 ± 1.4, respectively, therefore the air quality was classified as 'Good' level. And the monthly AEI values at same regions were in the range of 16.9-20 and 20.1-28, respectively, so the air quality was classified as 'Moderate' level. We found that the same air quality data was assessed at different level according to estimating mothod by A1 or by AEI. It seemed that the modification of the subindex and/or standard level was necessary to estimate A1 and AEI practically. Also, it was found that the critical pollutant was ozone in estimating A1 and AEI at Cheju area. But it assumed the ozone at Cheju area was caused by natural sources but anthropogenic sources. Thus, it seemed that the local background level of air pollutants was considered in estimating AI and AEI.

주택성능등급제에 따른 레미콘 산업의 대응방안

This study investigates the regulations on concrete grade evaluation, in response to operation of housing performance grade system(HGS). It also studies countermeasure- of ready mixed concrete industry. Because the HGS provide people who have to invest in housing once during their whole life, with objective information of housing performance, housing consumers would easily understand and purchase better house. In addition housing construction companies will try to supply the high quality housing, in response to people's various housing performance needs. It is expected that housing quality improvement and housing components technology development will be nationally activated, due to the competition on housing quality between the construction companies. After this, HGS is now on design process but will be on construction process connecting specification, which is perfoiniance based design and on the process after completion. It is assumed that those regulations will be possibly continued to develope for housing performance guarantee system.
