Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

Objective & Methods : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1997. 99 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 45(45.5%) were PPNG. Conclusion : The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 45.5% in 1997.

In order to investigate the relationship between methylated amino acids and diabetes, we investigated the changes of serum concentration of methylated amino acids in serum of the experimentally induced diabetic rats. The diabetic symptom was induced by injectly alloxan 100 mg/kg intraperitoneally. The serum content of N^G-monomethylarginine(MMA), N^G, N^G-dimethyl-arginine(DMA) and N^G, N^G-dimethylarginine(D'MA) were analyzed by HPLC. The results are as followings ① There was no change in serum content of MMA in the diabetic group. ② But it was observed that the amounts of DMA and D'MA were increased remarkably in the diabetic group. Specifically, D'MA content was increased about 7 times in comparision to that of the control group. ③ However, the concentration of trimethyllysine in RBC was decreased slightly in diabetic group but not significant statistically.

Comparisons of callus formation ratios from seed explants, callus sizes, regeneration ratios from callus and regeneration efficiency for 4 orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) varieties (Three were developed in Korea and one was imported from foreign nation) are as follows; Jangbeol 102 (67.0%) has the highest callus formation ratio in 4 weeks incubated callus after bedding the seed explants, but Potomac (68.4%) has the highest ratio in 6-seek callus. Potomac (3.93cm) has the highest callus size in 4-week callus, but Jangbeol 101 (4.32cm) has the highest size in 6-week callus. Jangbeol 101 (17.7%) has the highest plant regeneration ratio in 4-week callus, but Potomac (37.4%) has the highest raion in 6-week callus. Jangbeol 102 (11.5%) has the highest plant regeneration efficiency in 4-week callus, but Potomac (25.6%) has the highest efficiency in 6-week callus.

During my staying at YAMANASI KEN in JAPAN, I had an opportuning to observe the course of producing artificial nursery on Plecoglossus altivelis which was a part of its operation. The results are as follows. 1.They made artificial incubation by accodating the fertilized eggs artificial extracted in to fresh water through dry method. The larvas hatched are cultured in the artificial sea water of specific gravity 1.008, (salinity 6.1‰) 2.The larvas cultured in stagnant water for 20 days and circulated and pass filtered for 20-80 days then they are tamed in the fresh watew and they are cultured in running water reaching stocking size. 3.The larvas cultured by feeding rotfera, artificial diet, Brine shrimp, Moina, and the yolk of eggs. 4.Until they reach one of size for seed larvas, the survival ratio of larvas cultured for 150 days after hatched come to about 30.7%.

From May to October, 1981, Some examinations were performed concerning the compositon in the body of anchovies, Engraulis japonica collection along the cost of the Gogunsans, mainly near the Gwanri-Do, Bangchug-Do and Hoenggyeong-Do area, and 860 anchovies were sampled as the object of the study. The observed results are summarized as follows. 1.The body length composition was changed in each season and in spring-season (form May to June) the body length of anchovies showed as 5.6 - 11.8cm which was the largest size of the groups and Summer (from truly to August) anchovies appeared 3.6-8.4cm of body length, Autumn (from September to October) anchovies showed 1.8 - 6.9cm and they were the mixture of the medium and the small size groups. 2.The coefficient of fatness ranges from 6.32 to 8.54 and it gains according to the increase of the body length, but if their length showed more than 7cm increasing ratio of the coefficient of fatness small become excessively. 3.The average value of vertebrae numbers (execpt Urostyle) figured 44.09(July - August), the smallest number of the year and 44.628(May - June), the highest value of the year. The seasonal variation of average value of vertebrae numbers was not so significant at the result of variance analysis.

From Oct. to Nov, in 1978 for two months, An indoor experiment on the effect upon some fresh water fish by the toxicity of Maset(a kind of herbicide) and showed the following results. 1.TLm value of Maset Orizias latipes in 24hrs. and 48hrs. Showed 6.30 ppm and 2.42 ppm. 2.TLm value of Maset to Cyprinus carpio in 24hrs. and 48hrs. showed 2.20 ppm and 1.16 ppm. Therefore the toxic showed more than Oriziaslatipes did. 3.The relation of the toxic effect which Maset gave to Cyprinus carpio(X) and Orizias latipes(Y) could be showed Y=3. 194X-0.8548. 4.When the Maset was spinkled with a standard amount, the vital extent to 48 hrs. TLm value showed 3.1 for Cyprinus carpio, the highest degree.

Culturing the young shells of Cipangopa1udina malleata bred on 15th of june, 1975, their growth was observed under the natural conditions with no addition of food, continually The results could be summarized as follows; 1. C. malleata began taking food beginning from the latter Part of April (water temperature, more than 15℃. when early June to middle of October at the range of water temperature, 20-25℃, they showed the strong food-taking activity, and from late August at more than 30℃ and November at less than 10℃. to the next middle of April, they started aestivation and hibernation. 2. C. malleata bred of 15th of June, increased to 4.8g in body weight and 28.2㎜ in shell length a year. The main elements which were dominating over the body weight of C. malleata, were, in turn, water content in the tender Parts of the body, in the hollow parts between shell and muscle, the shell weight and the muscle weight, Scores affecting the body weight of each element were 6 : 4 : 2 : 1.

On the anchovies which had been fished along the Western Sea Coast of Gogunsan Islands and collected from May, 1980 to Nov. 1982, the seasonal variation in the number of vertebrae and body length during each period were applied and traced the growth rate of the anchovies. The observed results are summarized as follows. 1.The anchovies composed three growth zone which was estimated developmental clusters in spring, summer and fall season. 2.The spring developmental cluster grew quickly better than the developmental cluster in summer and fall and it attained 40mm for three months, 60mm for a half year and 80-90mm for a year. 3.The longevity of anchovy along the Coast of the Gogunsan Islands was estimated supporting its life for a year in most cases, though a part of fish prolonged their lives more than a half year.
