        Catalytic decomposition of N2O over RhOx supported on metal phosphates

        RhOx/M–P–O (M = Mg, Al, Ca, Fe, Co, Zn, La) catalysts were tested in N2O decomposition. RhOx/Ca–P–Oshowed the highest activity, achieving complete N2O conversion at 300 8C. RhOx/La–P–O is the secondmost active catalyst, achieving almost complete conversion at 375 8C. RhOx/Mg–P–O, RhOx/Co–P–O, andRhOx/Al–P–O showed lower activities, whereas RhOx/Fe–P–O and RhOx/Zn–P–O were completelyinactive. The high activity of RhOx/Ca–P–O is ascribed to the presence of very small RhOx particles, morebasic sites, and the easiness of desorbing O2 at low temperatures. The inhibiting effects of co-fed O2 and/or H2O on the catalytic activity of RhOx/Ca–P–O are reversible

        Factors that influence stay intention of Thai international students following completion of degrees in China

        Based on data recently collected in China, this study examined factors influencing Thai international students’ stay/leave intentions after completion of degrees in Chinese universities. Paying attention to the concrete situations and lived experiences of international students in a more integrated Asia-Pacific region, we found that marriage/romantic relationships clearly pulled international students to their partners across borders. Business or law majors and those from business-owning families were found to be inclined to stay, possibly for economic/career reasons. Regarding acculturation attitudes, the study found that the more one attached to Thai culture or way of life, the more likely he or she planned on leaving. The reverse is also true, as pro-China attitude had a positive, albeit diminishing, effect on planning to stay. The effect of acculturation attitudes was further found to be conditional, as these personal rationales can be suppressed by family business interests.

        Determination of Free Amino Acids in Isatidis Radix By HILIC-UPLC-MS/MS

        A rapid, accurate and precise method for the determination of 22 amino acids in Isatidis Radix by Hydrophilic Interaction Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography Coupled with Triple-Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry (HILIC-UPLC-MS/MS) was established. Chromatographic separation was carried out on a Acquity UPLC BEH Amide column (2.1 mm × 100 mm, 1.7㎛) with gradient elution of acetonitrile (containing 0.05% formic acid and 2 mM ammonium formate) and water (containing 0.15% formic acid and 10 mM ammonium formate) at a flow rate of 0.4 mL/min; Waters XevoTM TQ worked in multiple reaction monitoring mode. All components were separated in 17 min. All calibration curves were linear (R2 > 0.991) over the tested ranges. The limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantitation (LOQ) for these compounds were 0.21-79.55 and 0.72-294.23 ng/mL, respectively. The average recoveries were in the range of 93.75-104.16% with RSD value less than 6.56%. Therefore, this method could be an alternative assay for the determination of 22 amino acids in Isatidis Radix due to its rapidness, sensitivity, less sample and solvent consumption.

        Molecular and Functional Characterization of ZmNF-YC14 in Transgenic Arabidopsis

        The optimum transition stage from vegetative toreproductive development is important for flowering plantsto obtain the desired plant architecture to maximize yield. Inthis study, we overexpressed the maize NUCLEAR FACTORY, SUBUNIT C 14 (ZmNF-YC14) gene in Arabidopsis toinvestigate its potential functions in the regulation of planttransition. Overexpression of ZmNF-YC14 in Arabidopsisinhibited plant flowering and retarded the duration of thebranch-producing inflorescence phase 1 (I1). These plantsexhibited increased length of I1 and higher ratio of inflorescencephase 1 to inflorescence phase (I) (I1:I) under long-dayconditions. As a consequence, these transgenic plants exhibiteddramatic changes in their overall inflorescence morphology. In addition, the phenotypes of inflorescence morphologycaused by ZmNF-YC14 overexpression were enhanced byexogenous gibberellin (GA) treatment, which obtained asignificant increase in I1:I, inflorescence phase 1 to inflorescencephase 2 (I2) (I1:I2), and remarkable decrease in I2 and I2:I intransgenic plants compared to those under normal conditions. Taken together, the results of this study suggest that ZmNFYC14negatively regulates flowering and controls flowerformation under long-day conditions in Arabidopsis and maybe involved in a GA regulation pathway.

        Fabrication of Nitrogen-Doped Graphene Quantum Dots-Cu2O Catalysts for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

        Development of efficient visible light driven photocatalysts for water splitting has attracted great research interest. Herein, a novel H2-producing nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs)-Cu2O was successfully constructed and synthesized. The as-prepared NGQDs-Cu2O photocatalysts were benefited for light harvesting and charge separation and showed highly efficient photocatalytic property for hydrogen production by water splitting. Results displayed that the amount of NGQDs exhibited significant influence for H2 production, and the optimum sample of 3%NGQDs-Cu2O performed the highest hydrogen-evolution rate of 22.6 μmol h -1 g -1, which was about 2 times higher than that of the pure Cu2O (10.1 μmol h -1 g -1). By further study, the enhanced photocatalytic performance could be ascribed to the crucial role of NGQDs, which widely improve the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pair's.

        CAB: Classifying Arrhythmias based on Imbalanced Sensor Data

        Intelligently detecting anomalies in health sensor data streams (e.g., Electrocardiogram, ECG) can improve the development of E-health industry. The physiological signals of patients are collected through sensors. Timely diagnosis and treatment save medical resources, promote physical health, and reduce complications. However, it is difficult to automatically classify the ECG data, as the features of ECGs are difficult to extract. And the volume of labeled ECG data is limited, which affects the classification performance. In this paper, we propose a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based deep learning framework (called CAB) for heart arrhythmia classification. CAB focuses on improving the detection accuracy based on a small number of labeled samples. It is trained based on the class-imbalance ECG data. Augmenting ECG data by a GAN model eliminates the impact of data scarcity. After data augmentation, CAB classifies the ECG data by using a Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory Recurrent Neural Network (Bi-LSTM). Experiment results show a better performance of CAB compared with state-of-the-art methods. The overall classification accuracy of CAB is 99.71%. The F1-scores of classifying Normal beats (N), Supraventricular ectopic beats (S), Ventricular ectopic beats (V), Fusion beats (F) and Unclassifiable beats (Q) heartbeats are 99.86%, 97.66%, 99.05%, 98.57% and 99.88%, respectively. Unclassifiable beats (Q) heartbeats are 99.86%, 97.66%, 99.05%, 98.57% and 99.88%, respectively.

        Ferroelectric polarization effect on hysteresis behaviors of single-walled carbon nanotube network field-effect transistors with lead zirconate-titanate gating

        We report the fabrication of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) network transistors by ferroelectric Pb(Zr0.4Ti0.6)O3 (PZT) bottom-gating and investigate the polarization effects of PZT on the transport properties of the transistor device. Our devices exhibit typical p-channel transistor characteristics and a large hysteresis loop with high ON/OFF current ratio and large ON current as well as memory window (MW) measured up to 5.2 V. The origin of clockwise hysteresis is attributed to ferroelectric polarization modulated charge trapping/de-trapping process in the interface states between SWCNT networks and PZT. The retention time about 104s with two high stable current states preliminarily demonstrates great potential for future non-volatile memory applications based on such SWCNT/PZT hybrid systems.

        Evaluation and Comparison of Predictive Value of Tumor Regression Grades according to Mandard and Becker in Locally Advanced Gastric Adenocarcinoma

        Purpose Tumor regression grade (TRG) has been widely used in gastrointestinal carcinoma to assess pathological responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT). There are various standards without a consensus, and it is still unclear which kind of system has better predictive value. This study aims to investigate and compare the predictive ability of the Mandard and Becker TRGs in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer. Materials and Methods A total of 290 patients with locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma who underwent NCT and curative surgery were studied. Survival analysis for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were based on the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards method. Predictive values of TRGs and models were assessed by time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the area under the ROC curve (AUC), nomogram, and calibration curve. Results In multivariable analysis, the Mandard TRG was associated with OS (hazard ratio [HR], 1.806; p=0.026) and DFS (HR, 1.792; p=0.017). The Becker TRG was also related to OS (HR, 1.880; p=0.014) and DFS (HR, 1.919; p=0.006). The Mandard and Becker TRG AUCs for 5-year survival were 0.72 and 0.71, respectively. The whole models showed an increased predictive value, with AUCs of 0.85 and 0.86, respectively. There was no significant difference between the two TRGs and two models. Conclusion TRG was an independent predictor for survival, and there was no significant difference between these two systems.

        Modification of disused floral foam with polyethylene diamine for the removal of heavy metal ions

        Floral foam (FF) based on phenol formaldehyde resin has been used widely for many years, but it is reusedrarely and the discarded FF is harmful to environment. Therefore, recycling of disused FF is interestingand highly required. In current study, a new strategy for reutilization of disused FF was proposed. FFwhich had been treated with NaOH solution was dipped in polyethyleneimine (PEI) solution to anchoractive amino groups on the framework of FF, and then glutaraldehyde was employed to cross-link theanchored PEI to obtain a novel adsorbent based on disused FF (PEI@FF). Due to the abundant aminogroups, the prepared adsorbent displayed satisfactory chelating ability towards heavy metal ions. Under the optimal synthesis and adsorption conditions, the PEI@FF was applied to remove Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) in environmental waters, and the removal rates varied from 91.4% to 95.6%, which weremuch higher than that achieved on unmodified FF (35–43%). Additionally, the PEI@FF exhibited goodbatch-to-batch preparation repeatability and acceptable number of cyclic utilization. The satisfactoryresults well evidence the proposed method is practicable for reutilization of discarded FF, and the presentstudy also supplies a new adsorbent for the high efficient removal of heavy metal ions.
