<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>Objective</B></P><P>Calcineurin‐binding protein 1 (CABIN‐1) regulates calcineurin phosphatase activity as well as the activation, apoptosis, and inflammatory responses of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS), which actively participate in the chronic inflammatory responses in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the mechanism of action of CABIN‐1 in FLS apoptosis is not clear. This study was undertaken to define the regulatory role of CABIN‐1 in FLS from mice with collagen‐induced arthritis (CIA).</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Transgenic mice overexpressing human CABIN‐1 in joint tissue under the control of a type II collagen promoter were generated. Expression of human CABIN‐1 (hCABIN‐1) in joints and FLS was determined by reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) and Western blot analysis. The expression of cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and apoptosis‐related genes in FLS was determined by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay, gelatin zymography, and RT‐PCR, respectively. Joints were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and with tartrate‐resistant acid phosphatase for histologic analysis.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Human CABIN‐1–transgenic mice with CIA had less severe arthritis than wild‐type mice with CIA, as assessed according to hind paw thickness and histologic features. The milder arthritis was accompanied by significantly enhanced apoptosis in transgenic mice, evidenced by a significantly greater number of TUNEL‐positive cells in synovial tissue. Expression of inflammatory cytokines and MMPs in the transgenic mice with CIA was reduced, and they exhibited decreased Akt activation and increased expression of p53, caspase 3, caspase 9, and Bax.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Our findings demonstrate that hCABIN‐1 plays a critical role in promoting apoptosis of FLS and in attenuating inflammation and cartilage and bone destruction in RA. These results help elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms of RA and suggest that CABIN‐1 is a potential target for treatment of this disease.</P>

Aluminum alloy has good expansion and low hardness. However, aluminum alloy is susceptible to corrosionin humid environments, limiting their application. In this experiment, we adopted an efficientand facile method to prepare porous anodic oxide (PAO) films and PAO/Ce-MOFs composite films. Itcan be characterized by SEM, EDS, FT-IR, XRD, XPS and other test methods. The corrosion resistance isstudied by neutral salt spray test and electrochemical test. Electrochemical data show that the resistanceof PAO/Ce-MOFs film is three orders of magnitude higher than that of aluminum alloy substrate, and thecorrosion current density is three orders of magnitude lower than that of aluminum alloy substrate,reaching 1.621 108 A/cm2. The corrosion resistance efficiency is 99.92%. The salt spray experimentshows that the film can maintain the corrosion resistance for 30d. The results show that Ce-MOFs coatingcan effectively improve the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy. Therefore, this study provides a newapproach in the application of MOFs materials in the direction of anticorrosion.
A Novel cold plate of battery thermal management system designed by topology optimization

The cold plate is designed to cool the rectangular lithium-ion battery by topology optimization technique. A two-dimensional model was assumed to save the computing effort and time. In this study, numerical analysis of topology optimization cold plate is implemented using COMSOL Multiphysics R6.0. Numerical results were compared with the reference model which has six straight channels. The results demonstrate that topology optimization cold plate has a significant influence on the temperature uniformity and maximum temperature differences. When the battery heat generation reach to 10W, comparing with reference cold plate, the standard deviation of temperature Tσ and maximum temperature difference (ΔT<SUB>max</SUB> ) of topology optimization cold plate are decreased by 121% and 82%, respectively. This study indicated that topology optimization is more effective for the higher heat generation rate of battery.

Based on a cultural-historical perspective, where play is conceptualized as the creation of an imaginary situation, this study seeks to examine how scientific learning is fostered through collectively created imaginary situations during everyday family practices. This study forms part of a broader study, and in this paper the focus is on a three-year-old child and his family from Mainland China. A theoretical discussion of data collected reveals that a collectively created imaginary situation provides the conditions for a child’s exploration of scientific phenomenon not directly observable (e.g. Earth rotation and revolution). A form of collectively supported scientific consciousness was realized through discussions, imagining and re-imagining of everyday objects as scientific phenomenon. Scientific laws, as the rules of the scientific play being enacted by the family, enabled the child to be both imagining and viscerally experiencing which cannot be seen. The findings contribute to understanding how families create playful conditions that support scientific learning in the early childhood period.
