      • The effect of caloric restriction combined with treadmill running on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in high-fat fed C57BL/6 mice

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the combined effect of caloric restriction and exercise training on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its metabolic complication associated with high fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity. In this study, we attempted to delineate the potential mechanism(s) by which the combined treatment strategy improves the metabolic complications of NAFLD in HFD-induced obese mice. Method: C57BL/6 mice (n=50) were fed standard chow (SC) (n=10) or HFD (n=40) for 23 weeks. Further, the HFD fed mice were further divided into four groups; HFD (n=10), HFD+exercise training (EX, n=10), HFD+SC (n=10), and HFD+SC+EX (n=10) for the last 8 weeks of the 23-week dietary treatment period. Mice in EX groups were forced to run on a motor-driven rodent treadmill for 50 minutes per day and 5 days per week. Result: Liver histology showed that caloric restriction combined with treadmill exercise alleviated HFD-induced hepatic steatosis in conjunction with reduced body weight and subcutaneous fat mass gains and improved whole body insulin resistance. The beneficial effects of the treatments were associated with up-regulated molecular markers of hepatic β-oxidation in conjunction with suppressed molecular markers of de novo lipogenesis and inflammation. Yet, the alleviating effects of the treatments were in the order of HFD+SC+EX, HFD+SC, and HFD+EX. Conclusion: The current findings of the study suggest that caloric restriction combined with exercise training had greater treatment and/or protective effect against NAFLD and its metabolic complication in mice with HFD-induced NAFLD phenotype.

        흰쥐 관절염 모델에서 족삼리와 대릉 배오 전침의 상호억제 효과

        Objectives: We examined mutual inhibitory effects of combined acupoints in arthritic pain induce by carrageenan (CA). Electroacupuncture (EA) is considered a potentially useful treatment for arthritis. Although the analgesic effect of acupuncture is well documented, little is understood about its biological basis. There are many previous studies of positive effect of combined acupoint, this study was conducted to see the mutual inhibitory effects produced by combined acupoint (ST36 and PC7) on arthritic rats. Methods: For the induction of inflammatory pain rat model, CA was injected into the knee joint cavity. There are four groups; EA was applied to bilateral PC7 acupoints(PC7 group), ST36 acupoints (ST36 group), and both PC7 and ST36 acupoints (ST36+PC7 group) except for the control group. The pain level were assessed to determine the change in weight bearing force. We also examined the COX-2 expression in dorsal horn using immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis. Results: The ST36+PC7 group data showed the significant reduction of weight bearing force and the induction of COX-2 protein expression compared with the ST36 group. Conclusions: Simultaneous EA applied to the ST36 and PC7 acupoints reduced the analgesic effect of the ST36 group on knee inflammatory pain.

        청소년참여 경험이 자기표현능력 함양에 미치는 영향 : 자치활동 및 사회참여를 중심으로

        본 연구는 청소년참여 경험이 중ㆍ고등학생의 자기표현능력 함양에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 청소년참여기구 및 학급회의, 학교운영위원회 등 학교 안팎에서 이루어지는 대표적인 자치활동 참여 경험을 비롯해 사회문제 참여 경험 등 다양한 청소년 참여활동 경험을 종합적으로 고려하였다. 분석 자료는 「2017 한국 아동ㆍ청소년 인권실태 조사」데이터를 활용하였으며, 데이터의 위계적 구조를 고려하여 다층모형분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 청소년참여 경험은 중ㆍ고등학생의 자기표현능력에 독립적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 구체적으로, 소수의 청소년이 참여하고 일회성으로 경험하는 청소년참여기구보다, 학급회의처럼 다수의 청소년들이 일상적으로 참여하는 학생자치활동의 긍정적 효과가 좀 더 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 특히 학생자치활동의 경우에도 참여 여부 자체보다는, 자유로운 의사발언이 보장되는 등 실질적인 참여 환경이 조성되었을 때 긍정적인 효과가 발휘되는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 청소년참여 활동의 긍정적 효과를 확산하기 위한 방안을 논의하였다. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of youth participation such as youth self-governing activities and social participation on self-expression capability of middle and high school students using 「The Status of Right of Children and Youths in Korea in 2017」 data collected by the National Youth Policy Institute. Especially, this study tried to reflect various aspects of youth participation, for example Youth Participation Organization, students’ self-government activities such as class meeting, and other social participation activities. In addition, this study considered not only participation or not, but also the mode and level of participation. The main results are as follows. Even after controlling the effects of various variables, it was found that the experience of youth participation has an independent effect on the self-expression ability of middle and high school students. Specifically, there was a difference in effect depending on the mode of participation. The atmosphere of free class meetings helps to improve self-expression skills. On the contrary, it was found that unfree class meeting atmosphere had a negative effect on students self-expression ability than not having class meeting. On the other hand, the experience of participating in Youth Participation Organizations had a positive effect only on only high school students. Based on these findings, this study discussed the positive aspects of youth participation activities and argued that more youths should be provided with opportunities to participate.

        The Effects of Counseling about Death and Dying on Perceptions, Preparedness, and Anxiety Regarding Death among Family Caregivers Caring for Hospice Patients: A Pilot Study

        Purpose: This pilot study aimed to examine the influence of death counseling on perceptions, preparedness, and anxiety regarding death and dying among family caregivers of hospice patients. Methods: Death counseling developed based on the SPIKES model was provided to 37 family caregivers in a hospice and palliative care unit. Perceptions, preparedness, and anxiety regarding death were assessed with a self-administered structured questionnaire, and participants' scores before and after counseling were compared using the paired t-test. Results: Significant changes were found in perceptions, preparedness, and anxiety regarding death after counseling. Compared to before counseling, the scores for perceptions of death (t=-4.90, P<0.001) and preparedness for death and dying (t=-16.23, P<0.001) improved, while anxiety (t=3.72, P=0.001) decreased after counseling. Some changes were also found in the types of support that family caregivers needed to prepare for the death of their family members in the hospice care unit. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that death counseling could help family caregivers prepare for the death of their loved ones. Hospice and palliative care providers should play a key role in supporting family caregivers of hospice patients by developing strategies for counseling.

        질 내 유산균의 Candida albicans에 대한 항진균 효과 연구

        Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is one of the urogenital infections occurring in women worldwide. Candida albicans is generally observed among various types of microorganisms causing VVC. Antibiotic therapy is typical, and the use of Lactobacilli probiotics is to be recognized as a promising alternative. The aim of this study was to select vaginal lactobacilli with probiotic properties against C. albicans. In a previous study, we isolated 38 lactobacilli from vagina of Korean women and 20 isolates were shown to inhibit C. albicans. We further selected 10 isolates which were able to inhibit C. albicans less than 10<SUP>5</SUP> CFU/mL. Among these selected strains, Lactobacillus salivarius MG242 (identified by 16s rRNA sequencing) was finally selected based on its strong anti-candidal activity, acid/bile salt resistance and adhesion property. Indirect adhesion activity of MG242 measured by auto-aggregation assay showed more than 60% auto-aggregation after 5 h standing. Taken these results together, the selected strain MG242 may have potential for application in vagina health related products.

        학생자치활동이 중고생의 학교교육 효과 인식에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 학생자치활동이 중·고등학생들이 인식하는 학교교육 효과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원이 수집한 「아동·청소년 인권실태 조사」자료를 활용하여, 중학생과 고등학생을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 학급회의 운영 여부, 학생회 운영의 자율성 보장 수준, 학교에서의 자유로운 의사표현 수준, 학교의 주요 의사결정 과정에 대한 학생 참여 및 의사결정과정의 공유 등 학생자치활동의 개념을 포착하는 다양한 변수들을 활용하여, OLS 회귀분석을 통해 학생자치활동의 효과를 세밀하게 살펴보고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 학생자치활동은 학생들이 인식하는 학교교육의 효과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 구체적으로, 학생들이 학교 안에서 자유롭게 의사표현을 하고, 학생회 운영의 자율성이 보장되며, 학교의 규칙이나 규정 등 주요 의사결정 과정에 학생들이 참여하도록 기회를 보장하고 의견을 공유하는 참여의 절차가 잘 준수될수록 중학생 및 고등학생이 느끼는 학교교육의 효과는 제고 되었다. 학급회의 운영 여부의 경우, 중학생 집단에는 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인된 반면, 고등학생 집단에서는 뚜렷한 효과가 확인되지 않았다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 본 연구에서는 학교교육의 효용성을 증진하는 데 도움이 되도록, 학생자치활동을 활성화 할 필요가 있음을 제언하였다. 아울러 학생자치활동을 내실화하기 위한 양적·질적 측면의 지원 방안을 논의하였다. The purpose of this study was to analyze empirically the effects of students’ self-government activities on students’ recognition of effectiveness of schooling using representative data collected nationwide. In particular, this study utilized various factors that capture the concept of students’ self-government activities, such as the operation of classroom meetings, the level of assurance of autonomy of student council administration, the level of free expression of opinions in school. As a result, it was confirmed that students’ self-government activities positively influenced the effect of school education that students perceive. Specifically, when students are free to express their opinions in the school, to ensure the autonomy of the student council, to ensure that students participate in major decision-making processes, such as school rules and regulations, the effect of school education felt by junior high school students and high school students was improved. In the case of classroom operation, it was found to have a positive effect on middle school students, but no significant effect was found in high school students. Based on the results of this study, this study suggests that it is necessary to activate students’ self-government activities to improve the students’ recognition of effectiveness of school education and satisfaction with school.

        중·고령자의 온라인 여가활동 유형에 따라 여가자원이 여가만족도, 행복감에 미치는 영향 연구

        본 연구는 중·고령자의 온라인 여가활동 유형에 따른 여가자원과 여가만족도, 행복감의 관계를 검증하고자 한다. 이를 위해 2019년 국민여가활동조사의 전체응답자 가운데 중·고령자 3,138명을 최종 분석대상자로 선정하였으며, 온라인 사회형 여가활동, 온라인 취미형 여가활동, 온라인 정보탐색형 여가활동 세 집단으로 구분하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 온라인 사회형 여가활동 집단은 여가비용과 여가만족도, 행복감 간 정적인 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 여가시간은 여가만족도에만 정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 온라인 취미형 여가활동 집단은 여가비용은 여가만족도와 행복감 둘 다에게 정적인 관계를 가졌으나 여가시간은 유의미하지 않았다. 셋째, 온라인 정보탐색형 집단은 여가비용과 여가시간 모두 여가만족도와 행복감과 정적으로 유의미한 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 각 여가유형별로 여가자원과 여가만족도, 행복감 간의 관계가 다르게 나타났음을 확인하였으며 이러한 연구결과는 여가활동 유형에 따른 차별화된 지원이 필요함을 강조하고 있다. 본 연구결과는 중·고령자의 여가만족과 행복감 증진을 위한 실천적 개입의 기초자료로서 활용될 것이다. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between leisure resources, leisure satisfaction, and happiness according to the types of online leisure activities among middle-aged and older adults. To conduct this research, we referred to “The National Survey on Leisure Activities (2019)” by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as engaging with 3,138 participants aged 50 or older. Based on prior research, multiple linear regression analysis was conducted by dividing groups into online social leisure activities, online hobby leisure activities, and online information-search leisure activities. First, the online social leisure group showed that leisure cost had a positive relationship with leisure satisfaction and happiness, while leisure time only affected a positive effect on leisure satisfaction. Second, the online hobby leisure activities group showed that leisure cost had a positive relationship with leisure satisfaction and happiness. Third, the online information-search group showed that leisure resources(leisure cost and time) had a significant positive significant relationship with leisure satisfaction and happiness. Based on the results, we emphasized the need for differentiated programs and policies according to the type of leisure activities. The results of this study provided the fundamental material for practical interventions to promote leisure satisfaction and happiness for middle-aged and older adults.

        일반계 고등학생의 직업결정에 영향을 미치는 요인

        본 연구는 한국교육고용패널(KEEP) 자료의 중학교 3학년 3차 데이터를 이용하여 일반계 고등학생의 희망직업 결정여부에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 일반계 전체 고등학생들의 직업결정에는 성별, 가정 내에서의 직업·학교·학과에 대한 정보탐색 활동, 학교 내 상담 경험, 적성에 대한 인지가 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 직업결정 여부에 영향을 미치는 요인들 간의 성별 차이를 살펴보기 위해 전체고등학생을 남학생과 여학생으로 분리하여 분석한 결과, 남학생의 경우 직업결정에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 변인들은 가정 내에서 이루어지는 직업·학교·학과에 대한 정보탐색 활동과 본인의 적성에 대한 인지 여부가 강력한 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 반면 여학생의 경우, 자아개념이 강하고, 부모에 대한 의존도가 낮고, 학교에서 진로상담 경험이 있으며, 본인의 적성을 인지하고 있을수록 직업결정가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. This study examines factors which influence job decisions of general high school students using the 3rd wave of KEEP(Korea Education and Employment Panel) data. The authors found that the variables such as sex, job(schools, departments) exploring activities, experience of career counseling in school, and recognition of self aptitude have a significant effect on their job decisions. The authors also found the differences of job decisions between male and female students. The male students' job decisions are influenced by job(schools, departments) exploring activities, and recognition of self aptitude. Female students' job decisions however are influenced by self concepts, dependency on their parents, experience of career counseling in school, and recognition of self aptitude. This results address the importance of career guidance and imply that career guidance strategies should be different between male and female students.

      • 진로탐색 교육기부 프로그램 운영 효과성 분석

        교육기부 프로그램 운영 목적은 교육기부 표준 모델을 구축하고 진로탐색 프로그램을 개발 및 적용함으로써 교육기부 기관간 혹은 학교-교육기부 기관의 유기적인 네트워크망을 형성하여 안정적인 진로탐색 교육기부 생태계를 구축하는 것이다. 학교급로 체계적인 프로그램 개발 절차에 따라 체험형 프로그램을 6차시로 제작하여 운영하였고, 진로탐색 교육기부 컨설팅을 상시적으로 진행하였으며, 사전ㆍ사후 검사를 통하여 프로그램 효과성을 검증하였다. 진로 탐색 교육기부 프로그램 실시결과, 「진로탐색 교육기부 프로그램」 참가에 대한 만족도는 대체로 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교육기부 기관과 학생의 만족도의 차이는 없었다. 셋째, 프로그램에 참가하기 전과 후의 진로성숙도는 진로계획성과 진로행동 부분에서 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 마지막으로 전체적으로 직업기초능력이 향상되는 결과를 보였다. 본 프로그램을 통하여 첫째, 진로교육 역량 강화를 위한 진로탐색 프로그램 서비스 안정화에 기여하였고, 둘째, 자유학기제 도입에 따른 진로탐색 교육인프라 구축에 기여하였으며, 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학생들에게 행복한 학교생활을 위한 창의ㆍ인성 교육의 기회를 제공하였다. 아울러 표준화된 진로탐색 교육기부 프로그램을 제공함으로써 각 산업별 교육기부 기관 및 공공기관의 교육기부 참여 의지를 고취시켰고, 초ㆍ중ㆍ고 학교급별 학생의 자기주도적 진로설계 능력 함양과 계층 간, 지역 간(도ㆍ농간) 교육격차를 해소에 기여하였다. The purpose of the educational donation program is to establish a standard model of educational donation and to develop and apply a career exploration program to establish an networking between educational donation agencies or school-education donation agencies. Based on the systematic program development procedure at the school level, this career exploration education programs were served and then, the program effectiveness was reported through pre and post test. As a result of conducting career exploration education donation program, it was found that satisfaction with participating in career exploration education donation program was generally satisfactory. Second, there was no difference between education donation agencies and students satisfaction. Third, the level of career maturity was improved partially and the level of overall job ability was improved. This study implies that First, it contributed to the stabilization of the career exploration program system for strengthening career education capacity. Second, it constructed the career exploration education system through the introduction of Free sementer system . By providing a standardized career exploration education donation program, it encouraged the agencies to participate in the education donation by the educational donation organizations and the public organizations in each industry. Also, these programs contributed to improving the students self-directed career designing ability.
