To provide the scientific corroboration of the traditional uses of Akebia quinata (Thunb.) Decne., a detailed analytical examination of A. quinata stems was carried out using a reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method coupled to photodiode array detector (PDA) for the simultaneous determination of four phenolic substances; cuneataside D (1), 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethyl-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (2), 3-caffeoylquinic acid (3) and calceolarioside B (4). Particular attention was focused on the main compound, 3-caffeoylquinic acid (3), which has a range of biological functions. In addition, 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethyl-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (2) was considered as a discernible marker of A. quinata from its easy confuse plants. The contents of compounds 2 and 3 ranged from 0.72 to 2.68 mg/g and from 1.66 to 5.64 mg/g, respectively. The validation data indicated that this HPLC/PDA assay was used successfully to quantify the four phenolic compounds in A. quinata from different locations using relatively simple conditions and procedures. The pattern-recognition analysis data from 53 samples classified them into two groups, allowing discrimination between A. quinata and comparable herbs. The results suggest that the established HPLC/PDA method is suitable for quantitation and pattern-recognition analyses for a quality evaluation of this medicinal herb.

<P>The purpose of this study was to investigate the large-scale characteristic molecular signature of Müllerian inhibiting substance (MIS) in human ovarian cancer cells through expression genomics. To understand the comprehensive molecular mechanisms by which MIS inhibits ovarian cancer cell growth, we identified the large-scale characteristic molecular changes elicited by MIS in the human ovarian cancer cell line OVCAR-8, using DNA microarray analysis. Combined serial gene expression analysis from 0 to 96 h after MIS treatment of OVCAR-8 cells resulted in 759 genes which showed at least a 2-fold change in overexpression or underexpression compared to non-treatment groups. Of the 759 outlier genes, 498 genes were mapped to known biological cellular processes, and the resultant major pathways included metabolism, signal transduction, cell growth and apoptosis. Among these pathways, 68 genetic elements were dissected as cell cycle-related genes induced by MIS. Although cellular phenotypic changes by MIS were observed after 24 h of treatment, the characteristic large-scale molecular changes were observed from 48 to 96 h of exposure to MIS. This finding may imply that the suppressive role of MIS on ovarian cancer cells could be cumulative in that the metabolic disturbance of MIS is followed by arrest at the G1/S cell cycle checkpoint. We suggest 759 outlier genes comprise the characteristic molecular signature of MIS, which may be responsible for the suppressive effect on OVCAR-8 cells. Although the precise biological mechanisms underlying these outlier genes should be validated, the genetic elements described herein provide promising therapeutic interventions for ovarian cancer.</P>

A new monoterpene glycoside, 6'-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranosylalbiflorin (1), and four known compounds; albiflorin (2), 6'-O-benzoylalbiflorin (3), paeoniflorin (4) and benzoyl paeoniflorin (5), were isolated from the methanolic extract of the roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall.. Their chemical structures were completely elucidated using a combination of 20 NMR techniques (COSY, HMQC and HMBC) and HRESI-MS analyses. To investigate the bioactivities of these compounds, their effects on the differentiation of osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells were tested. Compound 1 ($0.01-10{\mu}M$) significantly increased the alkaline phosphatase activity and nodules mineralization of MC3T3-E1 cells compared to those of the control (P<0.05). These results suggest that newly isolated compound 1 has a direct stimulatory effect on bone formation in vitro and may contribute to the prevention for osteoporosis.

Fibrosarcoma of the ovary is an exceedingly rare primary ovarian stromal tumor, which has a poor prognosis. Fibrosarcoma may arise de novo or as a result of malignant change in a benign fibromatous or fibrothecomatous tumor of the ovary. There are only about 30 cases in the literature reported within past three decades, showing the extreme rarity of these tumors. We report a case of primary ovarian fibrosarcoma with a review of the available literature.
A Longitudinal Analysis of Concentration Developments for Container Terminals in Northern Vietnam

Vietnam has been one of Asia’s fastest growing economies since 1990, with a steady growth of 6-8 percent. Vietnam’s container port throughput volume also increases impressively year by year, at around 6-8 percent since 2002. To cope with increasing cargo volume, the development of modernized container terminals in Northern Vietnam has intensified. This longitudinal study aims to identify the development of the system and, in particular, the concentration or deconcentration tendencies, as well as the geographical patterns from 2005 to 2014. In order to achieve the study’s objectives, the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index (HHI), concentration ratios (CR1, CR3), the Gini coefficient, the Lorenz curve, and shift-share analysis (SSA) were applied based on container throughput volume data from 2005 to 2014. The results demonstrate that the development of container terminals in Northern Vietnam has experienced a deconcentration trend and considerable shifting among its terminals during the period of observation. The proposed and validated research is original as it is the first study of concentration, deconcentration, and geographical patterns for container terminals in Northern Vietnam. The findings will enable port authorities, policy makers, and port operators to understand the development and changes of container terminal systems in Northern Vietnam more clearly.
초등학생이 지각한 부모양육태도, 성장신념이 학업지연행동에 미치는 영향: 그릿의 매개효과를 중심으로

최근 학업성취를 예측하는 비인지적 요인에 대한 다양한 탐색이 시도되는 가운데, 본 연구는 학업상황에서 흔히 관찰되는 역기능적 태도인 학업지연행동의 내‧외적 선행요인으로 지각한 부모양육태도, 성장신념, 그릿을 선정하여 구조적 관계를 탐색하였다. 연구대상은 D광역시 소재의 3개 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 재학생 521명(남학생 268명)이며, 수집된 자료는 Mplus 8.2와 SPSS 25.0 프로그램으로 사전 기초분석 및 구조방정식 모형 방법을 통하여 검증하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 초등학생의 학업지연행동은 부모양육태도, 성장신념, 그릿과 유의한 부적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 초등학생의 성장신념과 그릿은 학업지연행동에 직접 영향을 미쳤지만, 부모양육태도는 유의한 직접 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 셋째, 초등학생의 그릿은 성장신념이 학업지연행동에 미치는 영향을 부분 매개하고, 부모양육태도가 학업지연행동에 미치는 영향을 완전 매개하였다. 이 결과는 초등학생의 학업지연행동 예방에는 학습자가 스스로에 대해 갖는 긍정적 인식과 믿음이 중요하며, 아동기부터 그릿 등의 비인지적 요인을 통해 긍정적 신념을 가질 수 있게 돕는 개입이 필요함을 보여주는 것이다. 더불어 학습자가 긍정적 신념을 갖도록 돕는 중재방법 및 교육환경의 마련과 함께 부모가 바람직한 양육태도를 가질 수 있도록 적절한 부모교육이 뒷받침되어야 하겠다. Recently, non-cognitive factors in learning have been considered as one of the most important factors to predict academic outcomes. This research was designed to explore structural relationships among perceived parental attitudes, growth mindset, grit and academic procrastination which is one of the most well-studied maladaptive learning attitudes. To do so, data of 521 elementary students(268 males) in D city was collected and the data was analyzed through Mplus 8.2 and SPSS 25.0 for descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling. First, as the result, it was confirmed that participants’ academic procrastination has negative correlations with parental attitudes, growth mindset and grit. Second, the perceived parental attitudes did not directly affect the academic procrastination whereas both growth mindset and grit had significant direct effects on the procrastination. Third, the grit could mediate partially the relationship between growth mindset and academic procrastination and fully the relationship between perceived parental attitudes and academic procrastination. The results of this study identified that helping elementary students have positive beliefs and attitudes towards themselves could prevent their academic procrastination. In addition, designing and implementing adequate intervention programs is required to inspire elementary students’ non-cognitive factors such as grit. Finally, practical implications such as parental training programs were suggested.

The quality of the personnel has been a key component in determining the success of any business in the hospitality industry. Thus, hospitality organizations are always in search for individuals with desired qualities from different recruitment pools. It is also critical that job seekers, who are interested in entering the hospitality industry, also have a clear understanding of what is needed for them to be successful in the industry. Therefore, several issues emerged. Do recruiters have a clear set of criteria for them to select individuals that match their needs? Do job seekers recognize important competencies that are necessary for them to climb up the career ladder in the hospitality industry? Additionally, is there a gap between recruiters and job seekers in terms of their perceived importance of KSAO (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other characteristics) for a career in the hospitality industry? Both groups perceived that communication skills are the most important competency that one should possesses for career success. Yet, the ranking of other important KSAO is different between managers and students. In addition, the research findings are different from previous studies. The results suggest that academic advisors can be an effective medium in bridging the gap between managers and students. The value of this study is enhancing current understanding on selection issue in the hospitality by comparing different stakeholders` perspectives at the same time.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Membrane-based gas separation requires highly delicate engineering of molecular structures for the desired separation performance. Herein, a new efficient approach to fabricate high-flux mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) for C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>6</SUB>/C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>8</SUB> separation is reported by utilizing ZnCo-mixed hybrid zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8-67) with unexpectedly large aperture size. Our structural characterizations in molecular level reveal that the ZIF-8-67 exhibits a larger aperture size compared to ZIF-8. Such a large aperture size of ZIF-8-67 is attributed to the large angle between two neighboring ligands and the long metal-ligand bonding distance, which is confirmed by refining the computed XRD pattern until it matches the experimental one (Rietveld refinement). More importantly, the inclusion of ZIF-8-67 in the 6FDA-DAM matrix enhances the C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>6</SUB> permeability by up to 240% with the moderate C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>6</SUB>/C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>8</SUB> selectivity improvement (70%), as compared to those of the polymeric counterpart. Furthermore, the temperature-dependent transport characterization verifies that the ZIF-containing MMMs improve the C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>6</SUB>/C<SUB>3</SUB>H<SUB>8</SUB> energetic selectivity at the sacrifice of entropic selectivity due to a unique molecular sieving behavior of the ZIFs, thereby enhancing the diffusivity selectivity.
