New Enzymes Acting on Peptides Containing D-Amino Acids : Their Properties and Application
Yasuhisa, Asano 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2000 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.10 No.5
Knowledge on the enzymes acting on D-aminoacid-containing peptides appears to be somewhat limited when compared with those acting on peptides composed of L-amino acids. Less than ten D-stereospecific enzymes are hitherto known. This review describes about several novel Dstereospecific peptidases and amidases of microbial origin, including D-aminopeptidase (E.C. 3.4.11.19), alkaline Dpeptidase, and D-amino acid amidase, which are applied to the synthesis of D-amino acids and/or D-amino acid derivatives.
Utilization of Microbial Insecticides in Japan
Yasuhisa Kunimi 한국응용곤충학회 2009 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2009 No.05
Historically in Japan, studies on the diseases of the silkworm, Bombyx mori, as a factor affecting the well-being of the silk industry, have dominated insect pathology. However, work by Hidaka (1933) demonstrated the possibility of controlling the pine moth, Dendrolimus spectabilis, with the fungus Beauveria bassianaand since then, various attempts have been made to develop a method to control insect pests using insect pathogens (Table 1, 2). The cypovirus product, Matsukemin, was the first microbial control product to be registered in 1974, and inactive and live Bacillus thuringiensis products were also registered and put on the market as pesticides in 1980 and 1981, respectively (Table 3). Currently, there are 32 microbial insecticides on the market that constitute slightly less than 2% of all insecticides used in Japan (Table 4, Fig.1, 2). Adoption of biopesticides is likely to increase in the near future due to scientific advances and several new government policies that encourage the use of alternative pest control products.
Impact of Fin Aspect Ratio on Short-Channel Control and Drivability of Multiple-Gate SOI MOSFET’s
Yasuhisa Omura,Hideki Konishi,Kazuhisa Yoshimoto 대한전자공학회 2008 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.8 No.4
This paper puts forward an advanced consideration on the design of scaled multiple-gate FET (MuGFET); the aspect ratio (Rh/w) of the fin height (h) to fin width (w) of MuGFET is considered with the aid of 3-D device simulations. Since any change in the aspect ratio must consider the trade-off between drivability and short-channel effects, it is shown that optimization of the aspect ratio is essential in designing MuGFET’s. It is clearly seen that the triple-gate (TG) FET is superior to the conventional FinFET from the viewpoints of drivability and short-channel effects as was to be expected. It can be concluded that the guideline of w < L/3, where L is the channel length, is essential to suppress the short-channel effects of TG-FET.

This paper describes design and development of a system that supports continuous creation of hazard maps by local residents in their daily life. We made an interview survey to design our system in a model traditional town in Saga, Japan. The results show that in spite of continuous efforts, many practical problems remain and residents feel unsafe. Based on these results, we designed and developed a unique ICT-based support system which contributes to community-based disaster prevention/reduction. The continuous resident participation and posting design are core concept for our sustainable community-based approach. Our system continues to support making a hazard map by integrating the community-based hazard information. Local residents register information about the spot (disaster types, a risk level, a photograph, comments, positional information) that can be dangerous in case of disaster. We have evaluated the usefulness and possibilities of our prototype system implemented as an iOS application.
