Physiology and genetics of early maturity in cereals are the subject of practical as well as scientific interest for agronomist and plant breeders, Thorough understanding of the true nature of such a complex character requires physiological and genetical knowledge about the internal factors, which are closely bound up with and react to some particular external or environmental factors. From the practical point of view. experiments should be conducted under controlled conditions. especially the day length and temperature, so that the genotypic differences pertaining to these factors may be discerned. Takahashi and Yasuda (1958, 1970) maintained that at least three physiological factors were responsible for determining earliness in barley. namely. (1) spring and winter habit of growth or vernalization requirement, (2) ogitioeruiduc response or sensitivity to short-day, and (3) earliness factor in a narrow sense or minimal vegetative growth. The same situations were true in common wheat also (Yasuda and Shimoyama, 1965), In this report. physiology and genetics of internal factors and their relations to the time of heading in the field will be presented with some problems concerning differences in mechanism of early maturity between barley and wheat.

西陣織産業における在日朝鮮人の同業者組合に関する考察 ―1945年~1959年を事例に―

This study stated the Zainichi Korean owners’ unions from 1945 to1959 in Nishijinori industry. It was found that Korean owners’ union (朝鮮人織物組) was established for the acquisition of raw materials’ supply and mutual aid within Korean owners through the article of incorporation, personal records and memories. We also found that the 2nd Korean owners union(第二組合) was established in 1947 through the newspaper’s advertisement. The actual reason for establishing the 2nd union is still unclear, but it was later found to be integrated into Korean owners’ union from 1953 to 1957. The confrontation between communist and anti-communist Koreans occurred and further intensified in the Korean owners’ union after the Korean war in 1950. Through studying personal records, this study also discussed how the anti-communist Koreans had withdrawn themselves from the Koreans union and later established the Sogo-Kijaku-union (相互着尺組合). The Korean owners’ union was relatively cooperative to the Japanese society through collection of donation money while natural disasters occurred in Japan, and the spread of energy saving movements and Labor Standards Act (労働基準法) in Nishijinori industry through the newspaper articles. It seemed that Koreans were trying to improve their status in Nisijin through various cooperation activities in the Japanese society. Chosenjin renmei (朝鮮人連盟: Koreans federation in Japan) had extinct because of the dissolution order of GHQ in 1949. Koreans owners’ union tried to negotiate with Kyoto city’s mayor and take the leading role and build a cooperative relation with Kyoto city in such difficult situations. That movement could be evaluated as an intentional approach from the Korean owners’ unions towards ensuring their livelihood in Kyoto instead of Chosenjin renmei. Koreans owners’ union and Sogo-Kijaku-union had been cooperative to Japanese unions when the owners unions was integrated into one comprehensive union in Nishijinori industry in the late 1950s. Thanks to the cooperative attitudes of that two unions, for which they were able to attain the exclusive position of the upper comprehensive union Nishijin Textile industrial Association (西陣織物工業組合) and reflect their stronger influences. However, Koreans owners’ union had lost their influences gradually and were not able to act for Koreans at the end of 1950s. 本稿では西陣織産業における1945年から1959年の在日朝鮮人の同業者組合について見てきた。朝鮮人織物組合の定款や、また個人の記憶や記録などによるものであるが、西陣織産業内において原料である生糸の配給権獲得や朝鮮人同士の相互扶助を目的に、1945年直後から朝鮮人連盟を中心に朝鮮人の組合設立の機運が高まり、1946年に朝鮮人西陣織物工業協同組合(朝鮮人織物組合)が結成されたと考えられる。 新聞の広告から、1947年に朝鮮人第二西陣織物工業協同組合(第二組合)が設立されたことを確認した。この第二組合がどのような経緯で誕生し、朝鮮人織物組合がどのような違いがあるのかは、未だ明確に分かっていないが、1953年から1957年の間に朝鮮人織物組合に統合されていったと考えられる。 また1950年の朝鮮戦争勃発後、朝鮮人織物組合内で思想的な対立が激化する。ここで朝鮮人織物組合のやり方に批判的な朝鮮人業者が脱退し、彼らを中心に1950年代に相互着尺織物協同組合(相互着尺組合)を結成したことが、個人の記録から分かる。 京都新聞の紙面上で確認できる朝鮮人織物組合の活動として、日本国内の自然災害被害への義援金集めや、業界でのエネルギー節約運動の取り組み、労働基準法の普及など、朝鮮人織物組合を筆頭に、朝鮮人の組合は日本社会に対して比較的協力的であった。日本人社会への協力姿勢を通じて、西陣業界内での朝鮮人の地位向上を目指したのではないだろうか。 また1949年9月GHQの団体等規制令により朝鮮人連盟は解散命令を受け、朝鮮人の日本での生活を保障する組織が消滅する。こうした苦しい状況の中で、京都市長の高山義三に朝鮮人織物組合が中心となって直接交渉をし、京都市との協調的関係を構築しようとした。こうした活動は、朝連に代わって朝鮮人の同業者組合が、京都の在日朝鮮人の生活を保障するために行った動きであったと評価することできるだろう。 1950年代後半からは、西陣織産業における総合的組合を作る動き、組合を一本化しようという動きの中で、朝鮮人織物組合や相互着尺組合は、またしても日本人の組合に対して協力的であった。こうした協力姿勢のおかげで朝鮮人の二組合は、業界での上部組合であった「西陣織工業組合」の中での地位を確固としたものにすることができたと考えることができる。しかし帰国事業が近づく1959年には、朝鮮人織物組合は朝鮮人独自の活動を取れないなど、同業者組合のもつ力は弱くなっていったと考えられる。
A Study on Quantification of Kano's Quality Model

This paper proposes a method for quantifying the types of quality elements proposed by Kano; namely: attractive quality, one-dimensional quality, and must-be quality. Kano's classification of required quality has helped us improve our thinking in product development. However, his classification is conceptual rather than quantitative, and the conventional techniques of questionnaire and group interview cannot provide quantification of the relationship between the degree of customer satisfaction and the degree of sufficiency of required qualities. This paper describes how a quality element under Kano's quality model can be expressed as a utility function, and describes an application to quality design of a cellular phone.
Electro-Functional Octupolar π-Conjugated Columnar Liquid Crystals

<P>A series of propeller-shaped π-conjugated molecules based on 2,4,6-tris(thiophene-2-yl)-1,3,5-triazines has been designed and synthesized to obtain ambipolar charge-transporting liquid-crystalline materials. The 3-fold electron-donating aromatic units are attached to the electron-accepting triazine core, which forms electro-functional octupolar π-conjugated structures. These octupolar molecules self-organize into one-dimensional columnar nanostructures and exhibit ambipolar carrier transport behavior, which has been revealed by time-of-flight measurements. In this approach, electron-donor and acceptor electro-active segments are assembled individually in each column to give one-dimensional nanostructured materials with precisely tuned electronic properties. Their desirable electronic structures responsible for both hole and electron conductions have also been examined by cyclic voltammetry and theoretical calculations. Study Design: Large cohort study of volunteers.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the severity of knee osteoarthritis, assessed using the Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grading scale, and spinopelvic sagittal alignment in older adult volunteers.Overview of Literature: The relationship between spinopelvic alignment in the sagittal plane and knee osteoarthritis in the coronal plane is unclear.Methods: Volunteers over 50 years of age underwent radiographic analysis. Radiographic parameters including pelvic tilt (PT), pelvic incidence (PI), lumbar lordosis (LL), thoracic kyphosis, and sagittal vertical axis (SVA) were measured. The the three Scoliosis Research Society-Schwab sagittal modifiers (PT, SVA, I–LL) were categorized and the KL grade was assessed. Differences in spinopelvic parameters and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores among KL grades were evaluated.Results: A total of 396 volunteers (160 men, 236 women; mean age, 74.4 years) were analyzed. PI–LL and PT in KL4 were significantly higher compared to that in the other KL grades. However, there were no significant group differences in SVA. In women, but not in men, higher frequencies of the worst modifier grade (++) were observed for PI–LL and PT in the KL3 and KL4 groups compared to those for the other KL grades. In women, the ODI score in KL4 was worse compared to that in the other KL grades.Conclusions: Individuals over 50 years of age with severe knee osteoarthritis had poor lumbo-pelvic sagittal alignment. Moreover, the progression severity of knee osteoarthritis had more impact onstronger relationship with lumbo-pelvic malalignment and disability-related low back pain in women than in men.
