A Decision Tree-based Analysis for Paralysis Disease Data

Even though a rapid development of modem medical science, paralysis disease is a highly dangerous and murderous disease. Shin et al. (1978) constructed the diagnosis expert system which identify a type of the paralysis disease from symptoms of a paralysis disease patients by using the canonical discriminant analysis. The decision tree-based analysis, however, has advantages over the method used in Shin et al. (1998), such as it does not need assumptions - linearity and normality, and suggest appropriate diagnosis procedure which is easily explained. In this paper, we applied the decision tree to construct the model which Identify a type of the paralysis disease.
Large Scale Manufacturing Systems Modeling Tools Based on Object-oriented Petri Nets

Manufacturing systems are usually large, complex, and concurrent in nature that makes it difficult to model and simulate the behavior in advance. The paper proposes an approach, called OPNets, for modeling and validating manufacturing systems. The approach is based on object-oriented high-level Petri nets in which modeling components of Petri net are constructed into object hierarchy. The objects communicate with each other by passing messages. To enhance the reusability and maintainability, a system are developed by object hierarchy. Inheritance among object hierarchy is also supported in OPNets. The modeling scheme of OPNets tries to resolve the complexity problems of Petri net.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the object-oriented metrics which have strong impact on the reliability and fault-proneness of software products. The reliability and fault-proneness of software product is closely related to the design properties of class diagrams such as coupling between objects and depth of inheritance tree. Methods: This study has empirically validated the object-oriented metrics to determine which metrics are the best to predict fault-proneness. We have tested the metrics using logistic regressions and artificial neural networks. The results are then compared and validated by ROC curves. Results: The artificial neural network models show better results in sensitivity, specificity and correctness than logistic regression models. Among object-oriented metrics, several metrics can estimate the fault-proneness better. The metrics are CBO (coupling between objects), DIT (depth of inheritance), LCOM (lack of cohesive methods), RFC (response for class). In addition to the object-oriented metrics, LOC (lines of code) metric has also proven to be a good factor for determining fault-proneness of software products. Conclusion: In order to develop fault-free and reliable software products on time and within budget, assuring quality of initial phases of software development processes is crucial. Since object-oriented metrics can be measured in the early phases, it is important to make sure the key metrics of software design as good as possible.
고령자 복지정책과 노동시장정책에 관한 연구: Therborn의 복지국가 유형화를 중심으로

고령화 현상은 전 세계가 직면하고 있는 과제이며 급속도로 증가하고 있는 고령인구의 추세에 비추어 21세기를 고령화의 시대라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 서구의 복지국가들에게 있어 고령자의 낮은 노동시장 참여는 복지국가체제 유지에 많은 부담을 안겨주었고, 안정적인 인구성장을 기초로 설계되었던 복지제도의 틀이 변화되는 주요 요인으로 고령화 사회의 도래에 주목하고 있는 것이 일반적인 견해이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Therborn이 제시한 복지정책의 확대정도와 노동시장정책이라는 기준을 토대로 시장중심 복지국가의 대표적인 미국, 완전고용을 지향하는 복지국가로서는 일본, 보상적 복지국가에는 독일, 정부가 강력하게 개입하는 복지국가는 스웨덴을 대표적으로 선정하여 살펴보았다. 대상의 모든 복지국가에서 보편적으로 보여주고 있는 공통적인 지향점에 방향을 맞출 수 있도록 한국의 고령자 노동시장정책에 대한 현황과 개선방안을 모색해 보고자 한다. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze how welfare states have changed in the period of population ageing. The welfare nations had developed with expansional economy and spent substantial amount of money. The cope with population ageing, we need a variety of responses to later retirement aimed at improving the job possibilities for older people. Consequently, this paper search about welfare system and employment policy in standard Therborn’s typology of welfare states. The old labor’s policy must be considered the welfare and macroeconomic factors. This study focused on improvement of policies about older workers stay for a long time in labor market. In the context of increased life expectancy and need for long-term infrastructure for health care maintenance, the aged people employment is needed not only for their welfare but also increasing the overall productivity of these old people.
A CMOS 6–10 GHz impulse radio UWB transmitter based on gated oscillator with switching pulse shaper

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In an impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) system for low-power location-aware sensor networks, the output pulses must meet the FCC spectral emission mask. In addition, to increase battery life, the IR-UWB transmitter must be energy efficient. In this paper, a CMOS ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitter designed using a 0.11-μm process is presented for 6–10 GHz applications. To reduce energy consumption, the transmitter adopts a gated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that directly drives 50 Ω output impedance. A gated VCO that uses a trapezoidal pulse for on/off gating of the tail current source satisfies the spectrum mask without requiring an additional pulse shaping filter. The active energy consumption is 13.4 pJ/pulse at a pulse repeating frequency (PRF) of 40 MHz. The side-lobe rejection performance is more than 30 dB.</P>

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>We aimed to determine the clinicopathological significance of the gross classification of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) according to the Korean Liver Cancer Association (KLCA) guidelines.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>A retrospective analysis was performed on 242 cases of consecutively resected solitary primary HCC between 2003 and 2012 at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The gross classification (vaguely nodular [VN], expanding nodular [EN], multinodular confluent [MC], nodular with perinodular extension [NP], and infiltrative [INF]) was reviewed for all cases, and were correlated with various clinicopathological features and the expression status of “stemness”-related (cytokeratin 19 [CK19], epithelial cell adhesion molecule [EpCAM]), and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)–related (urokinase plasminogen activator receptor [uPAR] and Ezrin) markers.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Significant differences were seen in overall survival (p=.015) and disease-free survival (p = .034) according to the gross classification; INF type showed the worst prognosis while VN and EN types were more favorable. When the gross types were simplified into two groups, type 2 HCCs (MC/NP/INF) were more frequently larger and poorly differentiated, and showed more frequent microvascular and portal venous invasion, intratumoral fibrous stroma and higher pT stages compared to type 1 HCCs (EN/VN) (p<.05, all). CK19, EpCAM, uPAR, and ezrin expression was more frequently seen in type 2 HCCs (p<.05, all). Gross classification was an independent predictor of both overall and disease-free survival by multivariate analysis (overall survival: p=.030; hazard ratio, 4.118; 95% confidence interval, 1.142 to 14.844; disease-free survival: p=.016; hazard ratio, 1.617; 95% confidence interval, 1.092 to 2.394).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>The gross classification of HCC had significant prognostic value and type 2 HCCs were associated with clinicopathological features of aggressive behavior, increased expression of “stemness”- and EMT-related markers, and decreased survival.</P>
초상자성 코발트 페라이트 나노입자에 대한 자화 및 자기엔트로피 변화

In order to the magnetization and magnetic entropy change for superparamagnetic ferrite nanoparticles, ultrafine cobalt ferrite particles were synthesized using a mircoemulsion method. The peak of X-ray diffraction pattern corresponds to a cubic spinel structure with the lattice constant 8.40Å. The average particle size, determined from X-ray diffraction line-broadening using Scherrer's, is 7.9 ㎚. The maximal magnetizations measured at 5 and 300 K are 24.3 emu/g and 17.2 emu/g, respectively. Superparamagnetic behavior of the sample is confirmed by the coincidence of the M vs. H/T plots at various temperatures. According to the thermodynamic theory, magnetic entropy change decreases with increasing temperature.
