        Native and non-native listeners` perception of foreign accent for duration-manipulated English L2 speech

        This work investigates if non-native Chinese and Korean listeners agree with natives in the evaluation of foreign accent for Chinese talkers’ English L2 speech, but unlike many previous studies, speech rate was manipulated to expand and compress in English statement and yes-no question stimuli. Results showed that Chinese listeners’ ratings were significantly similar with those of native listeners in the assessment of English statement stimuli regardless of the listeners’ L2 proficiency. Korean listeners did not, however, show such a pattern. When judging yes-no question stimuli, Chinese listeners statistically agreed with natives, yet high listeners only for Chinese high talkers and low listeners only for Chinese low talkers. Korean listeners did not, on the other hand, show a significant agreement with natives. This was interpreted as stating that the interlanguage shared by the same L1 talkers and listeners might facilitate speech comprehension and ultimately enable the listeners to be sensible enough to the temporal changes of stimuli. Concerning non-native listeners’ L1 background and L2 proficiency, the Pearson correlation analysis showed that non-natives’ L1 background, rather than L2 proficiency, contributed to inducing similar foreign accent ratings to native listeners. However, L2 proficiency seemed to play a role in a particular sentence type where the sound features were closely associated with proficiency in the interlanguage shared by the same L1 non-natives.

        한국어 유사 문법 교육에서 자료주도학습의 적용 효과 연구

        본고는 유사 문법 교육에서 코퍼스를 활용하여 자료주도학습의 효율화 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 자료주도학습은 학습자가 콘코던스를 통해 추출된 언어자료에서 발견한 언어자질(salient feature)을 분석한 후 자기 스스로 발견한 규칙을 일반화한다는 것이다. 중국의 한국어 교육은 전통적으로 교사중심의 연역적 설명과 명시적 정보를 암기하는 주입식 교육인 점을 고려하여 본고에서는 중국의 한국어 학습자들의 유사 문법 학습에 대한 요구 조사 결과를 통하여 귀납적 방법과 연역적 방법의 자료주도학습 모형을 설계하고 실제적인 교육 현장에 적용하여 그 효과성을 검증하였다. 이를 검증하기 위해 두 학급을 실험집단으로 선정하고 학급별로 각각 학생중심 귀납적 학습과 교사중심 연역적 학습을 적용하여 14차시의 연구수업을 실시하였다. 연구수업의 전과 후에는 학생들을 대상으로 한 사전·사후 평가 및 개방형 설문을 실시하여 학습방법과 학습자 수준에 따라 학습효과가 다르게 나타났음을 밝힘으로써 인지적, 정의적 실험 결과와 개방형 설문을 바탕으로 설계한 학습모형을 수정하고 보완하였다. 본 연구는 코퍼스를 활용하여 구체적이고 실제적인 활용 방안을 개발하여 교육 현장에 적용함으로써 한국어 유사 문법 교육에 새로운 가능성을 고찰한 점에서 의의가 있다. The purpose of this study is to explore the efficiency of data driven learning using corpus in similar grammar education. Data-driven learning is that learners generalize their own rules after analyzing salient features found in language data extracted through the concordance. Considering that Chinese Korean language education is traditionally teacher-centered deductive and explicit information memorizing, this study based on the results of a survey on similar grammar learning, designed data-driven learning models of inductive and deductive methods and applied them to the actual classroom to verified its effectiveness. To verify this, two classes were selected as an experimental group, applying student-centered inductive learning and teacher-centered deductive learning to each class, respectively,for a total of 14 lessons. Before and after the research class, pre- and post-evaluation and open-ended questionnaires were conducted for students, revealing that learning effects differed depending on the learning method and learner level. On this basis, combined with cognitive and effective experiment results and the results of the open questionnaire, the designed learning model is modified and supplemented. This study provides a new possibility for Korean similar grammar education by using the corpus to make specific and practical application plans and applying them to the field of education.

        The effects of non-native listeners` L1 background and L2 proficiency on the perception of foreign accent for pitch-manipulated native and Chinese accented English speech

        This study reports a perception experiment of foreign accent where both native and non-native Chinese and Korean listeners participated in judging the foreign accent of native and Chinese accented English speech, but unlike many previous studies, pitch was manipulated to increase and decrease at the peak in statements and at the valley in yes-no questions to find out if non-native listeners` sensitivity to pitch conforms to native listeners. Moreover, the current study attempts to find the effects of non-native listeners` L1 background and L2 proficiency in the extent to which the agreement occurs between native and non-native listeners` ratings. Results showed that the prosodic system pertaining to pitch in their L1 influenced L2 listeners` responses to the synthesized changes of pitch in L2 speech. Non-native Chinese and Korean listeners` perception of foreign accent was also different between statement and yes-no question stimuli as pitch serves as a distinctive function in two syntactic structures of their L1. This all provides the evidence for the effect of non-native listeners` L1 background. Non-native listeners` L2 proficiency also turned out to contribute to the foreign accent judgment only for Chinese high talkers` yes-no question stimuli, which serves as the evidence for the effect of L2 proficiency. However, it held true only when the listeners did not share their L1 with the talkers. (University of Seoul)

        韩汉语羡余否定“-잖아”和“不是嘛”的交互主观性类型

        韩汉语都有羡余否定表达方式,但其表现手段各有不同。本文以“-잖아”和“不是嘛”为例,试从交互主观性类型上做以对比。首先,界定了羡余否定的概念及其研究范围,然后以韩中电视剧剧本为依据,从句法位置、情感指向及交互主观性的角度,对比了韩国语“-잖아”和汉语“不是嘛”羡余否定表达的异同。通过语料的对比分析,我们认为韩国语是以对方(第二人)视角为参照的语言,相较汉语的自我视角,具有更强的交互主观性。这一判断也给韩国语更加倾向于交互主观性,汉语倾向主观性和交互主观性并重提供了一种旁证。本文的结论对于把握韩汉语羡余否定的特点具有一定的参考价值。 Korean and Chinese have different ways of expressing redundant negation. This paper takes “-잖아” and “不是嘛” as an example, and tries to make a comparison of the different types of interactive subjectivity between Korean and Chinese redundant negation. Firstly, this paper defines the concept of redundant negation and its research scope. Then, based on Korean and Chinese TV dramas, this paper compares the similarities and differences between Korean “-잖아” and Chinese “不是嘛” from the perspectives of syntactic position, emotional orientation and interactive subjectivity. Through the comparative analysis of the corpus, we believe that Korean is a language with the perspective of the other (second person) as the reference, and has stronger interactive subjectivity compared with the self-perspective of Chinese. This judgment also provides a circumstantial evidence that Korean language is more inclined to interactive subjectivity, while Chinese language is both inclined to interactive subjectivity and reciprocal subjectivity. The conclusion has certain reference value for grasping the characteristics of redundant negation in Korean and Chinese.

        Combined analysis and miRNA expression profiles of the flowering related genes in common wild rice (oryza rufipogon Griff.)

        Common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) is the most closely related ancestral species to Asian cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.). It contains various valuable traits with regard to tolerance to cold, drought and salinity, flowering diversity and many quantitative trait loci with agronomic important traits. Flowering is one of the most important agronomic traits. However, flowering-related transcriptome and how to be regulated by miRNAs have not been estimated in O.rufipogon. To identify how the genes and miRNAs regulating flowering in O.rufipogon. Three O.rufipogon RNA libraries, two vegetative stages (CWRT-V1 and CWRT-V2) and one flowering stage (CWRT-F2) were constructed using leaves tissue and sequenced using Illumina deep sequencing. 27,405, 27,333, 28,979 unique genes were obtained after mapping to the reference genome from CWRT-V1, CWRT-V2 and CWRT-F2, respectively. Then differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened and got 1419 unique genes are likely to involve in flower development. Detailed information showed that MADS box and floral meristem identity genes, such as MADS 1, MADS14, Hd1 are involved in common wild rice. Then, combined analysis of miRNA and mRNA expression profiles was performed. Twenty three known miRNA-mRNA pairs and five new candidates were presented an anti-correlationship. Interestingly, 12 miRNAs were negatively correlated with 20 mRNAs encoding flowering-related proteins, indicating that miRNAs regulated target genes to promote flowering in CWRT-F2 group. The results provided here genomic resources for flowering related genes and how these flowering genes were regulated by miRNAs in common wild rice.

        Effects of calcination temperature on properties of sulfuric acid-assisted Y2O3 nano-powder for highly transparent ceramics

        The transparent Y2O3 ceramic was prepared in this work via vacuum sintering of Y2O3 nanopowder obtained by sulfuric acidassistedcalcination. The calcination temperature notably influenced the dispersion, morphology and sinterability of Y2O3nanopowders. The calcined powders at various temperatures showed similar shapes, primarily comprised of round particleswith an isotropic surface. Nevertheless, the particle size gradually increased as the calcination temperature was raised. Thepowder calcined at 1100 ℃ showed a lower agglomerate state (n = 2.19) and better sintering properties instead of thoseobtained at other calcination temperatures, which can be correlated with a larger specific surface area at the low temperatureof <1100 ℃ and the rapid growth of large particles at 1200 ℃, respectively. The powder, calcined at 1100 ℃ was vacuumsintered in transparent ceramics for 5 h at a temperature of 1700 ℃. The transparent ceramic exhibited a dense and uniformmicrostructure, and the 1.5 mm thick sample has an inline transmission of up to 70% at 800 nm wavelength
