Tetrandrine (Tet), a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid, has been reported to have a radiosensitization effect on tumors. However, its effects on human glioma and the specific molecular mechanisms of these effects remain unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that Tet has a radiosensitization effect on human glioma cells. It has been hypothesized that Tet has a radiosensitization effect on glioma cells by affecting the glioma cell cycle and DNA repair mechanism and that ERK mediates these activities. Therefore, we conducted detailed analyses of the effects of Tet on the cell cycle by performing flow cytometric analysis and on DNA repair by detecting the expression of phosphorylated H2AX by immunofluorescence. We used western blot analysis to investigate the role of ERK in the effect of Tet on the cell cycle and DNA repair. The results revealed that Tet exerts its radiosensitization effect on glioma cells by inhibiting proliferation and decreasing the expression of phosphorylated ERK and its downstream proteins. In summary, our data indicate that ERK is involved in Tet-induced radiosensitization of glioma cells via inhibition of glioma cell proliferation or of the cell cycle at G0/G1 phase.

Two new phenolic glycosides were isolated from the rhizomes of Curculigo orchioides Gaertn.. Based on comprehensive spectroscopic analyses including IR, MS, 1D- and 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC, and HMBC), their structures were elucidated as 3-hydroxyl-5-methyphenol-1-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1) and 1',3'-dimethoxyl-4-hydroxyalangifolioside (2).

Effects of low temperature on chlorophyll content and chlorophyll fluorescence Parameters in Phalaenopsis were studied. The results indicated that chlorophyll content, Fv/Fm and ΦPSII of HY under day/night temperature 11/6℃ went on decreasing, while F0 increased slightly, all these parameters could recover partly, change of qp was unconspicuous. These conditions showed HY` photosynthetic apparatus were inactive partly. Chlorophyll content, Fv/Fm and ΦPSII of JT944 decreasing dramatically to 0 and F0 increasing firstly then decreasing under day/night temperature 11/6℃ showed photosynthetic apparatus were damaged irreversibly. Chlorophyll content, Fv/Fm and ΦPSII of HY decreasing slightly and F0 increasing slightly under day/night temperature 14/9℃, while they could recover equal to CK; Chlorophyll content, Fv/Fm and ΦPSII of JT944 decreased, while F0 increased firstly then decreased under 14/9℃. All these could recover mostly. The changes of chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in GL14 were between HY and JT944. Effects of day/night temperature 17/12℃ were slight. The above conditions showed the lowest temperature of Phalaenopsis` photosynthetic apparatus keeping activity was above 12℃.
Study of transient response in dielectric microstrip line with opto-microwave pulses

We study on the transient response in non-uniform microstrip lines with optically controlled microwave pulses. The transient response of the microwave pulses in plasma layer has been evaluated by reflection function of dielectric microstrip lines. The variation of characteristic response in plasma layer with localized pulses has been evaluated analytically. Reflection the change of the reflection amplitude has been observed.
