Influence of particle distribution on filter coefficient in the initial stage of filtration
Xing Min,Longcang Shu,Wei Li,Emmanuel Kwame Appiah-Adjei 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.2
Under the condition that the size of suspended particles is nonhomogeneous, we studied how filter grain and suspended particles affect filter coefficient in the early stage. A stochastic method was used to study the variation of the initial filter coefficient. Through physical experiment, the collected data include the initial inflow and outflow concentration, the size distributions of particles in suspension and so on. By introducing the standard capture probability function P(d) and the characteristic length of filter bed Lc, this separated the grains’ and particles’ influence on filter coefficient. An example showed that we could use P(d), Lc to ascertain the result of effluent distribution, ratio of Cout to Cin in any depths and equivalent filter coefficient λm. We also studied the filter coefficient λl during the experiment and the first-order derivative of λl.

Manas River is the largest river at the north foot of Tianshan Mountain, and it is obvious that the landforms at the north flank of Tianshan Mountains respond to the tectonic movement. A hypothesis has been put forward that geomorphology of the north flank of the Tianshan Mountain Range is the result of active tectonic processes. Based on the filed survey and analysis, the hypothesis has been proved by the results of the research. By investigating into the evolutions of Manas River valley fold hills, alluvial fans and terraces, it is indicated that Tianshan Mountain piedmont has been constantly uplifted along with main body of Tianshan Mountain since Quaternary, and continues to be thrust from south to north, which makes the piedmont range constantly extend to the basin direction. The deformed main body also moves from south to north. Meanwhile, the alternant Pleistocene ice age and interglacial age climate also has significant impact on the current landform patterns of north piedmont of Tianshan Mountain.
Impedance behavior of excess CaO type non-stoichiometric Ca1-xZrO3-δ perovskite ceramic
Huiyu Li,Xingmin Guo 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.3
Excess CaO type non-stoichiometric Ca1-xZrO3-δ (x = 0.2, 0.23) was prepared to investigate their impedance behavior in 500 Ce1100 C temperature range. It was confirmed that grain plays predominantly role in total resistance and relaxation process. The grain boundary resistance decreases more rapidly than that of grain with the rising of temperature. The relaxation time was found reduces with temperature increases. The activation energies are calculated to be 1.19 eV of C1.2Z and 1.53 eV of C1.23Z. The excess CaO is suggested can enhance the resistance and relaxation process of grain boundary and gives rise to a higher activation energy of C1.23Z. By analyzing dielectric permittivity, polarization effect was verified works more seriously at higher temperatures especially in C1.2Z. The excess CaO was proved can relieve the polarization effect in C1.23Z.

We investigated the increased risk of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) caused by the combined use of antibiotics and an immunosuppressive drug in a mouse model. Our data showed that an approximate return to pretreatment conditions of gut microbiota occurred within days after cessation of the antibiotic treatment, whereas the recovery of gut microbiota was delayed with the combined treatment of antibiotics and dexamethasone, leading to an increased severity of CDI. An alteration of gut microbiota is a key player in CDI. Therefore, our data implied that immunosuppressive drugs can increase the risk of CDI through the delayed recovery of altered gut microbiota.
Study on Farmland Soil’s Absorption Characteristics to BHC in Northeastern Industrial Polluted Area
Gao Ming,Hua Xiuyi,Dong Deming,Zhao Xingmin 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.6
This article adopts samples from farmland soil in Zhang Yi Zhan, Shenyang City, where is located in China’s northeastern industrial polluted area, assisted by systematic absorption test and soil column device and measuring system, to conduct in-depth study on the transfer rule of a persistent pollutant-organochlorine pesticide (OCP) BHC in soil, by which we could obtain the spatiotemporal variation process of pollutant concentration in unsaturated soil column under certain pollution transport condition. The experiment result indicates, that by comparing the leaching curves of each soil column filled with sample soil collected from various soil layers across the district, we could find that the transfer velocity of BHC in the vadose zone of soil column No. IV(60~80cm) was faster than that in No. I(0~20cm), No. II(20~40cm) and No. III(40~60cm), while that in No. V (80~100cm)was the maximum. This was possibly due to its close to upper soil layer where high content of clay and organic matter exist, while the lower soil layer was nearly sandy with low content of organic matter. However, the proved research shows, that soil's absorptive capacity to BHC would grow with an increase of organic matter content, therefore, the soil column No. V had smaller absorptive capacity than No. IV, and much smaller than No. I, II and III, extending the transfer capacity of pollutant to a larger degree. Namely, once the water body polluted by OCP reached to the lower soil layer of vadose zone, its transfer velocity would accelerate, which could be potentially hazardous to ecological system and underground water. Thus to research on the transfer characteristics of BHC in each soil layer of vadose zone would be of great importance as it would provide theoretical basis for improvement and restoration of soil and underground water pollution.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between 18F-FDG PET/CT semi-quantitative parameters and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society (IASLC/ATS/ERS) histopathologic classification, including histological subtypes, proliferation activity, and somatic mutations. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 419 patients (150 males, 269 females; median age, 59.0 years; age range, 23.0–84.0 years) who had undergone surgical removal of stage IA–IIIA lung adenocarcinoma and had preoperative PET/CT data of lung tumors. The maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax), background-subtracted volume (BSV), and background-subtracted lesion activity (BSL) derived from PET/CT were measured. The IASLC/ATS/ERS subtypes, Ki67 score, and epidermal growth factor/anaplastic lymphoma kinase (EGFR/ALK) mutation status were evaluated. The PET/CT semiquantitative parameters were compared between the tumor subtypes using the Mann–Whitney U test or the Kruskal–Wallis test. The optimum cutoff values of the PET/CT semi-quantitative parameters for distinguishing the IASLC/ATS/ERS subtypes were calculated using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The correlation between the PET/CT semi-quantitative parameters and pathological parameters was analyzed using Spearman’s correlation. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: SUVmax, BSV, and BSL values were significantly higher in invasive adenocarcinoma (IA) than in minimally IA (MIA), and the values were higher in MIA than in adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) (all p < 0.05). Remarkably, an SUVmax of 0.90 and a BSL of 3.62 were shown to be the optimal cutoff values for differentiating MIA from AIS, manifesting as pure ground-glass nodules with 100% sensitivity and specificity. Metabolic-volumetric parameters (BSV and BSL) were better potential independent factors than metabolic parameters (SUVmax) in differentiating growth patterns. SUVmax and BSL, rather than BSV, were strongly or moderately correlated with Ki67 in most subtypes, except for the micropapillary and solid predominant groups. PET/CT parameters were not correlated with EGFR/ALK mutation status. Conclusion: As noninvasive surrogates, preoperative PET/CT semi-quantitative parameters could imply IASLC/ATS/ERS subtypes and Ki67 index and thus may contribute to improved management of precise surgery and postoperative adjuvant therapy.
