        Application and Performance of Cellulose Acetate/γ-Poly(glutamic acid)/TiO2 Electrospun Fibrous Membranes

        In this study, cellulose acetate (CA)/poly-(γ-glutamic acid) (γ-PGA)/TiO2 fibrous membrane were prepared byelectrospinning. The wettability of the fibrous membrane was studied by using water contact angle measurements. Scanningelectron and thermogravimetric analyses were carried out to determine the microstructure of the fibers and the thermalstability of the membrane. A study was conducted on the corn seedlings grew of the CA/γ-PGA/TiO2 fibrous membranebasedagricultural film in soil at room temperature. Maize plant height, leaf area and SPAD (Soil and plant analyzerdevelopment) were investigated when covered with a CA/γ-PGA fibrous membrane and a CA/γ-PGA/TiO2 fibrousmembrane. In a simultaneous fashion, water absorption and degradation rate were also studied. Our study highlights thepotential use of these fibrous membranes for mulching film applications. The fibrous membrane may also find potentialapplication in food packing materials, facial masks and antimicrobial films of wound dressing.

        중국 소비자의 신분욕망이 고급 화장품 구매의도에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 설문조사를 통해 중국 직장여성의 신분욕망이 사회적 권력의 수준에 따라 고급 화장품 선호도 및 구매의도에 미치는 영향을 분석했다. 실증분석 결과에 따르면, 신분욕망이 높은 소비자일수록 고급 화장품에 대한 구매의도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 고급 화장품 선호도 변수의 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 고급 화장품 선호도가 완전매개 역할을 하고 있어 신분욕망이 직접적으로 구매의도에 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로 분석됐다. 신분욕망이 고급 화장품에 대한 선호도에 긍정적 영향을 미치고, 이와 같은 선호도가 고급 화장품의 구매의도로 이어지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 신분욕망이 고급 화장품 선호도에 미치는 영향은 소비자의 사회적 권력 수준에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 사회적 권력이 낮은 소비자일수록 신분욕망이 고급 화장품 선호도에 미치는 영향이 높게 분석됐다. 이는 사회적 권력이 낮은 소비자일수록 과시적 소비를 하려는 심리가 강하게 발생하고 보상소비를 할 가능성이 높아짐을 의미한다. 반면 사회적 권력이 높은 소비자의 경우, 신분욕망이 고급 화장품 선호도에 미치는 영향력은 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 중국 고급 화장품 시장을 대상으로 마케팅 전략을 수립할 때, 사회적 권력이 높은 여성과 낮은 여성을 구분할 필요성을 보여준다. 사회적 권력이 높은 여성을 대상으로는 효용성을 강조하는 반면, 사회적 권력이 낮은 여성에게는 지위 향상이 연상되는 광고메시지를 사용할 필요가 있다. This study examines the influence of the desire for status on the preference and purchasing intention of luxury cosmetics in China. According to the empirical findings, consumers with high desire for status have high intention to purchase luxury cosmetics. Also, as the preference of luxury cosmetics plays a role of full mediation, the desire for status has a positive effect on the preference for luxury cosmetics, and such preference leads to the purchase of luxury cosmetics. The findings also show that the influence of the desire for status on the preference of luxury cosmetics varies according to the level of social power of consumers. The lower the social power of the consumer, the higher the influence of the desire for status on the preference of luxury cosmetics. On the other hand, the desire of status does not have an effect on the preference of luxury cosmetics significantly in the case of consumers with high social power. Such empirical results imply that cosmetic firms should use different advertising phrases according to their target customers.

        Thioredoxin A of Streptococcus suis Serotype 2 Contributes to Virulence by Inhibiting the Expression of Pentraxin 3 to Promote Survival Within Macrophages

        Streptococcus suis serotype 2 (SS2) is an important zoonotic pathogen that can infect humans in contact with infected pigs or their byproducts. It can employ different types of genes to defend against oxidative stress and ensure its survival. The thioredoxin (Trx) system is a key antioxidant system that contributes adversity adaptation and pathogenicity. SS2 has been shown to encode putative thioredoxin genes, but the biological roles, coding sequence, and underlying mechanisms remains uncharacterized. Here, we demonstrated that SSU05_0237-ORF, from a clinical SS2 strain, ZJ081101, encodes a protein of 104 amino acids with a canonical CGPC active motif and an identity 70–85% similar to the thioredoxin A (TrxA) in other microorganisms. Recombinant TrxA efficiently catalyzed the thiol-disulfide oxidoreduction of insulin. The deletion of TrxA led to a significantly slow growth and markedly compromised tolerance of the pathogen to temperature stress, as well as impaired adhesion ability to pig intestinal epithelial cells (IPEC-J2). However, it was not involved in H2O2 and paraquat-induced oxidative stress. Compared with the wild-type strain, the ΔTrxA strain was more susceptible to killing by macrophages through increasing NO production. Treatment with TrxA mutant strain also significantly attenuated cytotoxic effects on RAW 264.7 cells by inhibiting inflammatory response and apoptosis. Knockdown of pentraxin 3 in RAW 264.7 cells was more vulnerable to phagocytic activity, and TrxA promoted SS2 survival in phagocytic cells depending on pentraxin 3 activity compared with the wild-type strain. Moreover, a co-inoculation experiment in mice revealed that TrxA mutant strain is far more easily cleared from the body than the wild type strain in the period from 8–24 h, and exhibits significantly attenuated oxidative stress and liver injury. In summary, we reveal the important role of TrxA in the pathogenesis of SS2.

        HS-Sign: A Security Enhanced UOV Signature Scheme Based on Hyper-Sphere

        For “generic” multivariate public key cryptography (MPKC) systems, experts believe that the Unbalanced Oil-Vinegar (UOV) scheme is a feasible signature scheme with good efficiency and acceptable security. In this paper, we address two problems that are to find inversion solution of quadratic multivariate equations and find another structure with some random Oil-Oil terms for UOV, then propose a novel signature scheme based on hyper-sphere (HS-Sign for short) which directly answers these two problems. HS-Sign is characterized by its adding Oil-Oil terms and more advantages compared to UOV. On the one side, HS-Sign is based on a new inversion algorithm from hyper-sphere over finite field, and is shown to be a more secure UOV-like scheme. More precisely, according to the security analysis, HS-Sign achieves higher security level, so that it has larger security parameters choice ranges. On the other side, HS-Sign is beneficial from both the key side and computing complexity under the same security level compared to many baseline schemes. To further support our view, we have implemented 5 different attack experiments for the security analysis and we make comparison of our new scheme and the baseline schemes with simulation programs so as to show the efficiencies. The results show that HS-Sign has exponential attack complexity and HS-Sign is competitive with other signature schemes in terms of the length of the message, length of the signature, size of the public key, size of the secret key, signing time and verification time.

      • Synthesis of Block Copolymers Consisting gof Polyoxypropylene and Poly(ε-benzyloxycarbonyl L-lysine) and their Blood Compatibility

        A-B-A type block copolymers were prepared by the polymerization of (-benzyloxycarbonyl L-lysine N-carboxyanhydride) (A segment) using amino-terminated polyoxypropylene (POP, B segment) as an initiator. The morphology of the block copolymers showed POP domains dispersed in the poly(-benzyloxycarbonyl L-lysine) (PBCL) matrix. Water contact angles of films of the block copolymer were almost same as that of the surface of PBCL film. Upon acid treatment of the block copolymer films, water contact angles decreased. Thrombus formation on block copolymer films was minimum for a POP content of 29 mol%. Identical results were obtained from a blood clotting test. The number of platelets adhered to the bulk and the surface-modified block copolymers was almost equal. However, serotonins were less released from the platelets adhered on the PL-2 block copolymer and surface-modified block copolymers (MPL-1, MPL-2, MPL-3).

        Study on super-harmonic resonance for gear transmission based on teeth surface friction

        Gear backlash and time-varying nonlinear meshing stiffness are the key design attributes of modern warship planetary gear transmission. The transmission prominent concern is teeth surface friction dynamics affect behavior and way. Therefore, the change of directionin meshing process, teeth surface friction will generate a larger oscillation, excitation response and energy consumption ways to affectdynamic characteristics of planetary gear transmission, which makes response range, dynamic behaviors more complex. Gear model andmulti scale equations for transmission are established, analyzing incentive role teeth surface friction when considering dynamic and staticload on influence law of gear resonance frequency response.

        A fancy hydrangea shape bimetallic Ni-Mo oxide of remarkable catalytic effect for hydrogen storage of MgH2

        The design of catalysts with excellent catalytic activity plays an important role in the field of solid-statehydrogen storage of new energy sources. Herein, a novel hydrangea-like NiO@NiMoO4 composite catalystwas prepared through a facile hydrothermal reaction. Subsequently, NiO@NiMoO4 was doped into MgH2by ball milling to solve the problems of high dehydrogenation temperature and slow desorption kineticsof MgH2. It can be seen from the experimental results that the MgH2 + 10 wt% NiO@NiMoO4 compositestarts to dehydrogenate at about 190 C, which is about 170 C lower than that of pure MgH2. Meanwhile,after complete dehydrogenation, the composites can start to absorb hydrogen below 40 C. Comparedwith pure MgH2, the activation energy of hydrogen absorption and dehydrogenation of the compositedecreased by 47.6 kJ/mol and 46.5 kJ/mol, respectively. In 10th cycle tests, the MgH2 + 10 wt%NiO@NiMoO4 composite still has good cycle stability. After adding a small amount of biomass charcoal,the hydrogen storage capacity can even be maintained above 97%. Furthermore, the characterizationresults show that the in situ generated new species Mo and Mg2Ni/Mg2NiH4 synergistically promotethe adsorption and dissociation of hydrogen. This new synergistic mechanism provides new comprehensiveinsights for improving reversible hydrogen storage in MgH2.

        In the gear meshing process, gear temperature field concerns the meshing surface friction, the friction heat depends on the contact pressure, the contact pressure is affected by the elastic deformation of gears and the temperature field caused by the thermal deformation, so the temperature field, stress field and displacement field should be mutual coupling. It is necessary to consider in meshing gear pair in the operation process of thermodynamic coupling contact stress (TCCS) and thermodynamic coupling deformation (TCD), and based on thermodynamic coupling analysis (TCA) of gear teeth deformation.

      • Highly efficient DSB-free base editing for streptomycetes with CRISPR-BEST

        <P><B>Significance</B></P><P>Although CRISPR-Cas9 tools dramatically simplified the genetic manipulation of actinomycetes, significant concerns of genome instability caused by the DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and common off-target effects remain. To address these concerns, we developed CRISPR-BEST, a DSB-free and high-fidelity single-nucleotide–resolution base editing system for streptomycetes and validated its use by determining editing properties and genome-wide off-target effects. Furthermore, our CRISPR-BEST toolkit supports Csy4-based multiplexing to target multiple genes of interest in parallel. We believe that our CRISPR-BEST approach is a significant improvement over existing genetic manipulation methods to engineer streptomycetes, especially for those strains that cannot be genome-edited using normal DSB-based genome editing systems, such as CRISPR-Cas9.</P><P>Streptomycetes serve as major producers of various pharmacologically and industrially important natural products. Although CRISPR-Cas9 systems have been developed for more robust genetic manipulations, concerns of genome instability caused by the DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and the toxicity of Cas9 remain. To overcome these limitations, here we report development of the DSB-free, single-nucleotide–resolution genome editing system CRISPR-BEST (CRISPR-Base Editing SysTem), which comprises a cytidine (CRISPR-cBEST) and an adenosine (CRISPR-aBEST) deaminase-based base editor. Specifically targeted by an sgRNA, CRISPR-cBEST can efficiently convert a C:G base pair to a T:A base pair and CRISPR-aBEST can convert an A:T base pair to a G:C base pair within a window of approximately 7 and 6 nucleotides, respectively. CRISPR-BEST was validated and successfully used in different <I>Streptomyces</I> species. Particularly in nonmodel actinomycete <I>Streptomyces collinus</I> Tu¨365, CRISPR-cBEST efficiently inactivated the 2 copies of <I>kirN</I> gene that are in the duplicated kirromycin biosynthetic pathways simultaneously by STOP codon introduction. Generating such a knockout mutant repeatedly failed using the conventional DSB-based CRISPR-Cas9. An unbiased, genome-wide off-target evaluation indicates the high fidelity and applicability of CRISPR-BEST. Furthermore, the system supports multiplexed editing with a single plasmid by providing a Csy4-based sgRNA processing machinery. To simplify the protospacer identification process, we also updated the CRISPy-web (https://crispy.secondarymetabolites.org), and now it allows designing sgRNAs specifically for CRISPR-BEST applications.</P>
