      • Expression of HMGB1 and its Clinical Significance in T-cell Lymphoma

        Mao, Xing-Jiang,Wang, Geng-Fu,Chen, Zhi-Jun,Wang, Li-Na,Zhang, Jun-Biao,Wang, Hui-Ling Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical significance of HMGB1 expression in T-cell lymphoma. Methods: Immunohistochemical staining for HMGB1 and survivin was performed with specimens from 120 cases of T-cell lymphoma and 40 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia with antibodies against human HMGB1 and survivin. Results: The expression of HMGB1 and survivin was significantly higher in tissues of T-cell lymphoma than in reactive lymphoid hyperplasia. Positive expression of HMGB1 and survivin was observed in 63.7% (65/102) and 61.8% (63/102) of T-cell lymphoma cases, respectively. While was associated with gender, age, and tumor location, significant correlations with malignancy and clinical stage were observed. Spearman rank correlation analysis revealed that the expression of HMGB1 and survivin was positively correlated in T-cell lymphomas (P<0.01). Conclusions: Expression of HMGB1 and survivin in T-cell lymphomas is significantly associated with malignancy and clinical stage, but not with gender, age and tumor location. Elevated expression of HMGB1 may be an important biomarker for the development and progression of T-cell lymphoma.

Diversity and Active Mechanism of Fengycin-Type Cyclopeptides from Bacillus subtilis XF-1 Against Plasmodiophora brassicae

( Xing Yu Li ),( Zi Chao Mao ),( Yue Hu Wang ),( Yi Xing Wu ),( Yue Qiu He ),( Chun Lin Long ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2013 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.23 No.3

Bacillus subtilis XF-1, a strain with demonstrated ability to control clubroot disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, was studied to elucidate its mechanism of antifungal activity against P. brassicae. Fengycin-type cyclopeptides (FTCPs), a well-known class of compounds with strong fungitoxic activity, were purified by acid precipitation, methanol extraction, and chromatographic separation. Eight homologs of fengycin, seven homologs of dehydroxyfengycin, and six unknown FTCPs were characterized with LC/ESI-MS, LC/ESI-MS/MS, and NMR. FTCPs (250μg/ml) were used to treat the resting spores of P. brassicae (107/ml) by detecting leakage of the cytoplasm components and cell destruction. After 12 h treatment, the absorbencies at 260 nm (A260) and at 280 nm (A280) increased gradually to approaching the maximum of absorbance, accompanying the collapse of P. brassicae resting spores, and nearly no complete cells were observed at 24 h treatment. The results suggested that the cells could be cleaved by the FTCPs of B. subtilis XF-1, and the diversity of FTCPs was mainly attributed to a mechanism of clubroot disease biocontrol.

Zhang, Xing-Mao,Wang, Zheng,Liang, Jian-Wei,Zhou, Zhi-Xiang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.13

Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the outcomes of laparoscopic colorectal resection in a period of learning curve completed by surgeons with different experience and aptitudes with a view to making clear whether seniors had a better learning curve compared with juniors. Methods: From May 2010 to August 2012, the first twenty patients underwent laparoscopic colorectal resection completed by each surgeon were selected for analysis retrospectively. A total of 240 patients treated by 5 seniors and 7 juniors were divided into the senior group (n=100) and the junior group (n=140). The short-term outcomes of laparoscopic surgery of the two groups were compared. Results: The mean numbers of lymph nodes harvested were $21.2{\pm}11.0$ in the senior group and $17.3{\pm}11.5$ in the junior group (p=0.010); The mean operative times were $187.9{\pm}60.0min$ as compared to $231.3{\pm}55.7min$ (p=0.006), and blood loss values were $177.0{\pm}100.7ml$ and $234.0{\pm}185ml$, respectively (p=0.001); Conversion rate in the senior group was obviously lower than in the junior group (10.0% vs 20.7%, p=0.027) and the mean time to passing of first flatus were $3.3{\pm}0.9$ and $3.8{\pm}0.9$ days (p=0.001). For low rectal cancer, the sphincter preserving rates were 68.7% and 35.3% (p=0.027). Conclusions: Seniors could perform laparoscopic colorectal resection with relatively better oncological outcomes and quicker recovery, and seniors could master the laparoscopic skill more easily and quickly. Seniors had a better learning curve for laparoscopic colorectal cancer resection compared to juniors.

      • Analysis of Laparoscopy-assisted Gastric Cancer Operations Performed by Inexperienced Junior Surgeons

Zhang, Xing-Mao,Wang, Zheng,Liang, Jian-Wei,Zhou, Zhi-Xiang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.12

To clarify whether gastric cancer patients can benefit from laparoscopy-assisted surgery completed by junior surgeons under supervision of expert surgeons, data of 232 patients with gastric cancer underwent operation performed by inexperienced junior surgeons were reviewed. Of the 232 patients, 137 underwent laparoscopy-assisted resection and in 118 cases this approach was successful. All of these 118 patients were assigned to laparoscopic group in this study, 19 patients who were switched to open resection were excluded. All laparoscopic operations were performed under the supervision of expert laparoscopic surgeons. Some 95 patients receiving open resection were assigned to the open group. All open operations were completed independently by the same surgeons. Short-term outcomes including oncologic outcomes, operative time intra-operative blood loss, time to first flatus, time to first defecation, postoperative hospital stay and perioperative complication were compared between the two groups. The numbers of lymph nodes harvested in the laparoscopic and open groups were $21.1{\pm}9.6$ and $18.2{\pm}9.7$ (p=0.029). There was no significant difference in the length of margins. The mean operative time was $215.9{\pm}32.2$ min in laparoscopic group and $220.1{\pm}34.6min$ in the open group (p=0.866), and the mean blood loss in laparoscopic group was obviously less than that in open group ($200.9{\pm}197.0ml$ vs $291.1{\pm}191.4ml$; p=0.001). Time to first flatus in laparoscopic and open groups was $4.0{\pm}1.0$ days and $4.3{\pm}1.2$ days respectively and the difference was not significant (p=0.135). Similarly no statically significant difference was noted for time to first defecation ($4.7{\pm}1.6$ vs $4.8{\pm}1.6$, p=0.586). Eleven patients in the laparoscopic group and 19 in the open group suffered from peri-operative complications and the difference between the two groups was significant (9.3% vs 20.0%, p=0.026). The conversion rate for laparoscopic surgery was 13.9%. Patients with gastric cancer can benefit from laparoscopy-assisted operations completed by inexperienced junior surgeons under supervision of expert laparoscopic surgeons.

Identification of putative carboxylesterase and aldehyde oxidase genes from the antennae of the rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

        Yu-Xing Zhang,Wen-Long Wang,Mao-Ye Li,Shi-Guang Li,Su Liu 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.3

In insects, odorant-degrading enzymes (ODEs) play essential roles in the degradation of volatile odorants and maintenance of olfactory sensitivity. ODEs include several enzyme families with detoxification functions, such as carboxylesterases (CXEs) and aldehyde oxidases (AOXs). The rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is a serious rice insect pest in Asia. In this study, 18 putative CXE genes and four AOX genes were identified from the antennae of C. medinalis by retrieving a previously released transcriptome dataset. BLASTX searching and phylogenetic analyses showed that these genes are closely related to their respective orthologs in other lepidopteran species. Expression patterns of these genes were determined by reverse transcription- quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). Four candidate genes, including three CmedCXEs (CmedCXE17, CmedCXE20 and CmedCXE24) and one CmedAOX (CmedAOX2) were antenna-enriched and considered potentially involved in odorant degradation. Our findings provide a comprehensive sequence resource and expression profiles of CXE and AOX genes in C. medinalis antennae, which may facilitate further studies of the odorant degradation mechanisms in this insect species.

      • An Optimized Third Harmonic Injection Method for Three-Phase Cascaded H-Bridge Photovoltaic Inverter

        Wang Mao,Xing Zhang,Tao Zhao,Yuhua Hu,Fusheng Wang,Zhiqiang Dai,Renxian Cao 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

The uneven irradiation and temperature in photovoltaic (PV) modules of three-phase cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverters will cause the unbalanced output power between solar panels, resulting in unbalanced grid current between three phases. In addition, since each phase can be regarded as a single-phase inverter, the second harmonic voltage pulsation of dc-side capacitors is a problem to be solved. To solve these two problems, a third harmonic injection optimization method on the basis of fundamental frequency zero sequence is proposed in this paper. The third harmonic with the same amplitude of fundamental modulated wave signal is injected into the modulated wave signal when the amplitude of synthesized wave signal is no greater than unity. Otherwise, the amplitude of third harmonic is decreased correspondingly to ensure the amplitude of synthesized wave signal being unity. With this method, the dc-side voltage pulsation is effectively restrained and the power balancing limit of CHB inverter is expanded. The feasibility and effectiveness of this method are verified by an experimental prototype of a three-phase seven-level CHB inverter.

Study of Deformation Mechanisms of a High-Purity α-Titanium Plate Under Monotonic Loading with the EVPSC-TDT Model

        Chao Ma,Xing Duan,Xiaoqian Guo,Hua Qiao,Lianying Zhang,Xianbiao Mao,Peidong Wu 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.2

The deformation mechanisms of a rolled high-purity α-titanium plate under monotonic loading along the rolling direction(RD), transverse direction (TD), and normal direction (ND) are investigated by the Elastic Visco-Plastic Self-Consistent(EVPSC) model, which incorporates a Twinning and De-Twinning (TDT) scheme to describe twinning behavior duringstraining. In the EVPSC-TDT model, plastic deformation is assumed to be accommodated by prismatic, basal and pyramidal⟨c + a⟩ slip modes as well as the 10̄12 extension and 11̄22 contraction twin modes. Numerical results based on theEVPSC-TDT model are in good agreement with the corresponding experimental data. The tension–compression asymmetry, anisotropic initial yielding and strain hardening behavior are interpreted in terms of the predicted relative activities of variousdeformation modes, twin volume fractions and texture evolutions. It is demonstrated that twinning plays an important rolein tension–compression asymmetry and plastic anisotropy, which is closely related to the loading direction with respect tocrystal orientations in the initial texture. In addition, it can be concluded that the TDT scheme permits better performancein describing twinning-associated deformation behavior for the rolled high-purity α-titanium plate than the PredominantTwin Reorientation (PTR) model even when detwinning is not involved.
