        Interactions between Endophytes and Plants: Beneficial Effect Endophytes to Ameliorate Biotic and Abiotic Stresses in Plants

        Endophytes are typically non-pathogenic microbesthat at some period in their life cycles colonize the interiorspaces of plant tissues. There is a growing interest in the roleof the endophytes in ameliorating various stresses on plants,including biotic stress (such as pathogenic microbes) andabiotic stress (such as drought and salt stress), becauseendophytes can produce phytohormones, fixing nitrogen,antagonistic substances, enzymes, which plays an importantrole in plants respond to biotic and abiotic stress. Previouslyresearchers have reviewed endophytes promote plant growththrough direct or indirect mechanisms. In order to furtherclarify the interactions between endophytes and it’s hostplants, we reviewed the biological properties of endophytesisolated from different parts of plant, the methods of plantinoculation with endophytes and the beneficial effects ofendophytes to mitigate biotic and abiotic stress in plants.

      • The Improved Wavelet Threshold Function and Its Application

        Images will produce noise in the process of storage and collection. Wavelet threshold de-noising is a simple and effective de-noising method, but the choice of threshold function is a key. The hard-threshold function is discontinuous and there is the deviation between the signal processed by the soft-threshold function and the real signal, so this paper constructs a new threshold function at the origin sufficiently smooth to deal with above problems. A parameter is added to the new threshold function, which is between the soft-threshold and hard-threshold function by adjusting the parameter. The new threshold function can remove the noise effectively, and the image information is well preserved. Hence it plays an important role in follow-up edge detection. The de-noising method with improved wavelet threshold is presented, and then uses morphological edge detection on the new image in this paper. The result shows that the method can detect the complete edge effectively, and the visual effect and objective evaluation are good.

        AtFes1A is essential for highly efficient molecular chaperone function in Arabidopsis

        AtFes1A is a co-chaperone of heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70), which is a key component of plant molecular chaperone systems. Plants without AtFes1A generally present defective thermotolerance. However, the underlying mechanism of this molecule has remained elusive. In the present study, we used thermolabile firefly luciferase as a molecular reporter to evaluate the efficiency of the plant molecular chaperone system. Renaturation of firefly luciferase in atfes1a mutants lagged far behind that of wild-type (WT) plants. In contrast, in vitro AtFes1A did not affect renaturation of firefly luciferase, whereas Hsp70 did significantly. We propose that AtFes1A is indirectly involved in plant molecular chaperone systems.

      • An Improved Canny Edge Detection Algorithm

        Aimed at the defects of the traditional Canny operator, this paper puts forward an improved algorithm in edge detection. First, this paper gives a new method on selfadaptive image block based on threshold value. Next, by proposing a new hybrid filterbank of self-adaptive median and morphology, we adopt this hybrid filter-bank to smooth the noise image. Then, we add the information of gradient in two bevel directions, so that the information of gradient is more complete. Last, by using the threshold value to process the image of gradient which is after non-maxima suppression, we obtain the image edge. For the noise image, this improved algorithm not only can filter out noise well, but also the image edge is continuous, smooth, clear. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm has a good effect in edge detection, strong capability of noise immunity. The objective evaluation and visual effect are good, too.

        Let a, b, q be integers with q > 0. The homogeneous Dedekind sum is dened by $$\Large S(a,b,q)={\sum_{r=1}^{q}}\(\({\frac{ar}{q}}\)\)\(\({\frac{br}{q}}\)\)$$, where $$\Large ((x))=\{x-[x]-{\frac{1}{2}},\text{ if x is not an integer},\\0,\hspace{75}\text{ if x is an integer.}$$ In this paper we study the mean value of S(a, b, q) by using mean value theorems of Dirichlet L-functions, and give some asymptotic formula.

        Effect of Initial Orientation on Corrosion Behavior of AZ80 Magnesium Alloy in Simulated Body Fluid

        Three diferent orientation specimens (P-ND30, P-ND60 and P-TD) prepared from the rolled AZ80 magnesium alloy plateswere immersed in simulated body fuid (SBF) for 384 h. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests were measuredat 24 h, 96 h, 192 h, 288 h, and 384 h during immersion. The corrosion morphology and chemical composition of the threeorientation specimens were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS). X-ray difractometer (XRD) was used to evaluate the phase composition of the surface of the specimen at diferentimmersion stages. The results indicated that the P-ND30 and P-ND60 specimens had similar corrosion behavior. The P-TDspecimen showed the best corrosion resistance. A degradation evolution model was established, and the efect of initialorientation on corrosion behavior was discussed.
